  1. I've found most breeders either breed for one specific colour, or two colours - Black/choc, or Black/Yellow.
  2. Hopefully I'll be there - looking at the Vic Roads website, it is saying 3 sections of the Glenelg Highway are closed. Hmmmmm.......
  3. I know a lab breeder in Qld who sells the chocs cheaper because she hates the colour. There's no diff health-wise based on colour. I really dislike the look of North American "hunting" Labradors.
  4. Yes - quite normal. Cat breeders don't allow outside matings like dog breeders do. It can spread FeLV & FIV. British Shorthairs also do not breed during the cooler months of the year. And if you leave cats too long to be mated, they will get pyometra. As I've already stated, I'm updating the website right now. But thanks for your "input".
  5. Yep - updating the website as we speak. I think I need to get it higher in the listings when people google. It's so hit & miss though when it comes to web advertising. I pay my cat council each year, and even when I was top of the page for my breed, I had hardly any responses. Maybe 5 for the whole year. I had more at Cat-World, which is similar to DOL. I think people are put-off though that I am not in Melbourne.
  6. WOW - Could you be any more bitchy SwaY? Sheesh! Just because you live near a big city, with lots of potential customers, doesn't mean everyone else does. I live in "the bush". Because I live an 8hr round trip from the closest shows, and have a child, I don't get to go to shows frequently, and get advertising material "out there". Not that I HAVE to answer your questions, but I sell to other breeders, plenty of pet owners, and even my Vets have bought one. Do you have any suggestions on where else I could advertise?
  7. British Shorthairs - http://www.bymysidebrits.webs.com I am going to a Pet Expo tomorrow, and whilst printing out all my material, I thought this ingenious plan up.
  8. Hi all, OK, this is probably a REALLY weird topic, but I'm a pedigree cat breeder, and looking to get my brochures for advertising my cattery further afield than it currently is. I'm situated in Hamilton in SW-Vic, so would prefer to swap with others in Victoria/South Australia, but also those in capital cities in other states as well, or those with airports AAE service. Would anyone here be interested in swapping brochures or business cards & displaying them in their local Vet Surgeries? We could either print them out & post to each other, or just send as a computer doc, and print each others out. I'm not asking for a lot - just 10-20 perhaps? Reply or PM me if interested? THANKS!!! http://www.bymysidebrits.webs.com
  9. Will be good to see you Pandii. Everyone, remember you're allowed to bring your pets with you, so bring your poochies along with you, as it IS a family day out, and pets are part of the family too!
  10. If I were buying a Chocolate lab, I'd either get one from Catraz in Victoria, or Avokah in Qld. Hope this helps!
  11. Will do Pandii! Would love to see you & your kidlets too, if you can make it!
  12. Just bumping this up, in case others interested in attending who haven't see this post. We have a brand new cage for the cats (top/bottom), and it's much bigger than I expected, so will have to take a trailer. Hopefully I won't have to reverse it at all, as I have no idea how to do so! I have decided I will just take 2 cats with me to the expo - a blue girl, and a blue bi-colour young boy kitten (9 months old). Below are the two I'm bringing along with me. DORA And young BARNEY Looking forward to meeting those of you who are attending.
  13. I read it as he was about to post the bill, but the dog slipped it's check chain, and was waiting out by the ute.
  14. Yes - it is I. Well myself & little Lara. OH has to work unfortunately. I thought seeing as it doesn't start until 11am, that I could be ready by 8-8:30 in order to be there in time. Trip usually takes under 2hrs, but then I will have the set-up too, which will be fun. And yes - come say hi & introduce yourself - won't be letting the GP hold the cats, so if you want a hold, you'll have to come behind the table for that. :D I was hoping they'd put a link up for me on the expo website, but no cigar.
  15. Just wondering if anyone is going? We will be there with our British Shorthair cats, as a breed display. http://ballaratpetexpo.webs.com/ http://www.facebook.com/pages/Ballarat-Pet...170021856350162
  16. I might actually go check out one of these shows - I'm in Hamilton about 1hr from both.
  17. Quick Question Does anyone know how I can find out my "Breeder Registration Number" on Pet Plan website? Need to register a kitten this afternoon, and no idea how to find this out. It's been over a year since I last used it, and it used to automatically put this info in. Thanks! -WithEverythingIAm
  18. That's it Pandii - I DEMAND that you buy a nice big property ASAP, 1/2 way between Warrnambool & Hamilton! I'm sure they will take toilet paper for payment, and I don't mind chipping in a few rolls. :D You probably wouldn't want to use your bikes for Lure Coursing, because the tyre needs removing - this is what drives the rope around the pullies to pull the plastic bag around which is what the dogs chase after. :D There's nothing but Conformation Dog Club here. Sooooo boring. But if you moved here, we could start a social one up - there's not even Obedience or Agility here. The showground is plenty big enough to do "other stuff" though. Just a heap of pot holes around the ground that need filling in (or bull dozing to make flat). I personally think dogs are more rounded & balanced if they have titles at BOTH ends of their name, especially if they have one which has something to do with why they were bred. -WithEverythingIAm
  19. Great Barko/Uncle Albers - I don't believe Laucke Mill tests on animals at all. It's an Aussie company based in South Australia. -WithEverythingIAm
  20. I was involved in Obedience, Endurance, Lure Coursing, and a little bit of Agility up in Qld. Rocky loved Lure Coursing the best. I should dig up my videos of him having his fun, and put them up on youtube some time. Lure Coursing is quite a cheap sport to start up (you just need a mounted motorbike in working order, pullies, thin rope, and an enclosed field). The Qld club in Brisbane never advertised, as they had TOO many people coming along each meet. -WithEverythingIAm
  21. OK. I'll Organise EVERYTHING for trials, but I don't want to be President/VP/Secretary/Treasurer of the club. -WithEverythingIAm
  22. Nah I'd just prefer that a bunch of us puts together the "SW Vic Dog Sports Club" that has everything both ANKC disciplines & NON-ANKC also.Imagine if we could choose from Obedience, Agility, Tracking, Endurance, Retrieving trials, Herding, Flyball, Lure Coursing, Dog Sledding, Canine Disc, Dock Diving, Rally-O, Doggy Dancing, Weight Pulling, Schutzhund, or all of the above? -WithEverythingIAm
