  1. Hi all - sorry but who's the guy on DOL who does blade sharpening? Nicest man or something? We need a few blades sharpened for work, and the local blade sharpeners are shite... Thanks in advance! -WithEverythingIAm
  2. Meloxicam for dogs is bodyweight x 0.2 / 5 - cats = bw x 0.3 / 5 -WithEverythingIAm
  3. Busterlove - BIGDOGPETFOODS is closer - North Brisbane - that's where we get all our pets meat. http://www.bigdogpetfoods.com -WithEverythingIAm
  4. None of them have the same active ingredients. Just because a dog has a reaction from one batch of a product, doesn't mean they will for another batch, nor another different product! They also test at 10 times the recommended dose not 4. As to the opening poster - as others have said, give Bayer a call, and see what they have to say for themselves. -WithEverythingIAm
  5. Just wanted to tell everyone about this product. It's reasonably new on the market, so not many of you will know about it. Comes in tab sizes for dog 0-5kg, or 5-25kg. You can either use it as an all-wormer and give every 3 months - covers Hookworm, Whipworm, Roundworm & Tapeworm. Or you can use it monthly, and it'll cover the above worms, as well as heartworm. It's also much cheaper than other Vet bought wormers & worm/heartworm combo preventative tabs, with the Vet I work at charging $3.25/tab for the small dog size, and $8.25/tab for the 5-25kg size. Info on the product -WithEverythingIAm
  6. Midol, If the external applications aren't working, perhaps try internal? Sentinel Spectrum - won't kill fleas but will render them infertile and unable to reproduce other little flea babies. Capstar - will kill all fleas that bit the animal for 24 hours, then stop working. Repeat every 2-3 days, for 2-3 weeks, and you'd significantly reduce the flea population Proban - one dose every 3 days? I'm not 100% sure that's the dosage rate, I don't have a packet in front of me? Sentinel & Capstar work quite well together! -WithEverythingIAm
  7. I can answer this one - someone rang up the other day to ask same thing about sentinel spectrum! If the tab has stayed down more than 2 hours, then enough will have been absorbed to cover you for the month for the worms & heartworm. If not, then another tablet ASAP! -WithEverythingIAm
  8. If you're looking for the CHEAPEST wormer at the Vets, I'd go with Milbemax. A tablet for dog 5-25kg is $8.25 or so? 2 tabs for 25-50kg, and 3 tabs for 50-75kg's. It covers all types of worms, and heartworm also if given monthly. Dogs up to 5KG costs $3.50/tab. MUCH cheaper than Interceptor which does the same job! Much cheaper than drontal also if you're just looking for an all-wormer (every 3 months). -WithEverythingIAm
  9. Why would they still need expressing if the glands are removed  There's nothing to express!! -WithEverythingIAm
  10. Oh and "Sprint Oil" is a great additive, and good for adding extra weight. -WithEverythingIAm
  11. Euk Low Res, Hills i/d are usually recommend for dogs with complaint like pancreatitis. -WithEverythingIAm
  12. Since switching to Nutro, I don't really feel the need to add anything to the dry food? I do still give bones to chew one, but don't really need any extra additives like I used to. -WithEverythingIAm
  13. Cartrophen injections shouldn't be too expensive unless you have a giant breed dog? Or the vet is charging you a consult each time? You can also get it in a capsule form called "sylvet" capsules, which must be kept in the fridge until used (like the cart inj) Firstly we recommend people start on glucosamine once every 2nd day, and fish oil capsules twice a week. Joint Guard is also a great product, and comes in powder, and recently introduced a liver flavoured dog chew into their range. You can also get fish oil capsules from your local vets now, and actually cheaper than buying from the supermarket. If these don't work, then it's time to bring in the big guns, and try pentosan polysulfate aka Cartrophen or Sylvet. -WithEverythingIAm
  14. I used to have to stand over my dog and encourage him to eat. He was fine if we'd added egg, or sardines or sprint oil to his food, but otherwise, he would rather starve. Then we discovered Nutro Natural Choice, and haven't looked back! He LOVES the stuff! -WithEverythingIAm
  15. We do the vet's MIL's cat each year before summer with a #40 blade, but only with the grain. We leave his head, socks & tail tip. He kinda looks like a lion afterwards, and his fur feels like velvet. -WithEverythingIAm
  16. Euk low residue is quite expensive - around $75 for only 6.8kg's, and of course being prescription, only available at the vets. -WithEverythingIAm
  17. If you were coming to get it done at our surgery, you'd be charged around $150 for the desex, and another $40 or so for the hernia, as another incision would need to be made. This would include ET tube for breathing, and catheter for needles, as well as IV fluids, pain relief and antibiotic injections. If you wanted a E-collar for a dog that size looking between $18-20? No extra charge to take stitches out 10 days later by the vet. -WithEverythingIAm
  18. Where in the Wide Bay is the course held? I know a guy on the Sunshine Coast who has his own security company with dogs. -WithEverythingIAm
  19. If they're under 25KG then they'll need 1x Dog Milbemax tab each, or 2 if they're over 25KG's. These are cheaper than Drontal, but I can't find anywhere online who sells them? The good thing about Milbemax tabs is they will stay fresher longer, as they are in individual blister packs like human panadol etc ETA - They do all the worms including tapeworm, and even heartworm Oh and I found a bulk lot of them: http://www.vetnpetdirect.com.au/product.ph...=356&page=1 -WithEverythingIAm
  20. Not sure how they compare price-wise, but check out this link: http://www.vet-pet-supplies-online.com/category17_1.htm They sell the major brands in bulk lots. How many dogs are you actually buying for? The only problem buying in bulk is how soon they'll go out of date? These wormers are given once every 3 months. I personally if I were to be worming a dog Border Collie size (25KG) I'd be using Dog Milbemax. 1 x 5-25kg tablet, and cheaper than drontal and the like. Ask your Vet if they stock these, and if so how much it'd cost? Or ask if you can buy a box off them? (20 in a pack I think?) Usually each lot of tabs will have 1 x dispensing fee, then charge per tab thereafter. -WithEverythingIAm
  21. There's a good one usually available at your local Vets called "Frightful Noises" put out by Dr Cam Day. There's a more expensive one called "Scary Sounds" but much the same. Not sure if either have plane noises though? -WithEverythingIAm
