thanks for that mas i prefer not to use topicals because my two have an alergy propensity and topicals seemingly tend to aggravate that condition... i'm changing next month [or in november !??!] to a sentinel product that controls all parasitic infestations --- i just need to confirm whether i can supplement comfortis with the sentinel product in the case of an adult flea infestation ;)

bad start crazydoglady and yeah, i'd feel the same as you if i were in your boots... fsweet, give your neighbours a bit more time but moreso, offer them some more help if their dogs haven't settled within the next week or so --- moving is considered one of the most stressful periods in a human's life, so i can only imagine what it might be like for a dog would your two welcome play dates? just asking!

lesley, lana, both your stories are beautiful; very touching indeed for me, i don't know atm where i stand... i have bella, my first ever dog who took days, maybe longer to crawl in and snuggle into my heart so it wasn't immediate but now i wonder how i ever managed without her and only this past week we celebrated her 2nd anniversary with us ;) quite often i just have to snuggle her because if i don't, i think i would simply dissolve because i ache for her so much ;) then there's byron --- it's been just short of 12 months since he came into our lives and he's developed in leaps and bounds over the past several months and damn it if he isn't stealing my soul... each of them, separately and together form this one thing that just envelopes me and when i'm away from them, i sometimes feel an intense need to be with them --- i don't know how to explain such an ache, a physical and emotional overwhelming need... now i have bobbie, my 8-mo foster fail kitty and i can't explain the conundrum i find myself in with her, bella and byron *sigh* if anything were to happen to either one of them, i believe i would simply die... edited for clarity and of course some spelling

julz, stay strong, read and take in what others have posted in this thread --- the success rate for survival is high! be good to your two gorgeous dogs, but don't let them know how you are feeling; you must be strong for them as a token of good faith and healing, i have 4 candles burning: one each for you and your OH and one each for indie and bonnie...

thanks aussielover, looking to use sentinel after october given that both dogs were administered the dreaded heartworm injection that time last year... i don't think it does adult fleas tho --- can comfortis be used as a one off with sentinel in the case where fleas are found?

it would seem that at some point after my post at 3:37 am i was able to get to bed; albiet a messy, throw together kind of bed yet one that was dry and not stinky --- on reflection, i could have joined the OH in BR 2 but the dogs would have been a tad offended cuz that room is pet free... shaar, i don't know why i smiled but the fact that i then winced would surely make up for it --- god awful predicament to say the least! t, i used napisan for a while but kept returning to biozet attack --- there wasn't any remaining smell cuz i plastered the marked areas with de-solv-it before putting the king-size comforter, its cover and sheeting separately in the washer --- the de-solv-it took care of the surface marks on the mattress protector... as for them picking up signals: yup! a combo of that and the parasite treatments i'd given earlier in the night --- doing it different next time, learnt my lesson... frufru, yeah, i understood that about comfortis but was complacent cuz they'd both had it before without ill effect --- mixing it with drontal tho was the kicker perhaps, so gunna do it very different next time... bully, i hope your lil one has recovered after such an ordeal and skip, no truer words, none... thanks everyone for your input, greatly appreciated :D

back! all went well, as you would expect i'm sure but i have to say that i'd like to try the alternative next time; home carers like gsd fan recommended and perhaps not in my home, but theirs --- something to consider for next time at least gsd fan, your site is very similar to the top dog minders service! aussievee, it amazes me that from the scant info i provided you were able to identify who i'd boarded my pets with! the heavily pregnant daughter gave birth in the weeks before we went on leave and her gorgeous sheltie was also being boarded with them, altho she had indoor privs i don't know whether they have a daughter living in melbourne tho... only 2 remarks to make: the dogs stunk but then i knew they would cuz the kennel bella and byron shared also stunk [a 40-minute trip home with smelly dogs and bedding ='d a HUGE amount of water was used that night and for the next 2 days]; and margaret [lady owner] thought bella was byron cuz 'he had the broader skull'!??! dunno about anyone else but i know a deffo way of telling the sex of a dog! anyway, thanks everyone for your input --- it's greatly appreciated and i now consider myself that much wiser special thanks tho to mother moocher for all the care and assistance provided in the days leading up to our departure

hello kitteh and congrats on getting dana thru a really bad time --- she loves you for it! i'd add raw chicken/turkey necks to her diet, and other raw bones of low fat type. i'd also look at dumping rice from her diet, feeding her raw [human grade] chicken [instead of cooked] and bulking out her meals with pulped or cooked mashed sweet potato. roo meat is an excellent low fat meat as for other appropriate food for a dog with her condition, i'll leave that up to the experts on this board good luck!

sooo close but yet still not close enuf --- i need to be up at 5!!! *holy crap*

my pets are being boarded for 10 days from tomorrow so i treated them for parasites --- i didn't do very well earlier, i *treated* the two dogs with their drontal chews; byron ate half and well, bella tried to bury hers --- retrieving both and when dishing up their dinner, i crushed up byron's bit in his bowl and bella's whole bit in hers, then i added a crushed up comfortis tab in each too! neither dog was happy with their dinner and neither of them finished... so, about an hour ago, i'm heading off to bed only to find two patches of vomit on the bed [OH left it in my capable hands, chosing to move to the 2nd bedroom *winner*] i know it was byron cuz bella was downstairs with me and when we got upstairs i found byron snuggled in his bed on the floor [he's almost always on the bed], and bella was VERY interested in the smell of his breath [which is more than a little unusual]... anyhoot, i'm up still, laundering and my question is, where did i go wrong? can i not smush up the drontal? can i not smush up the comfortis? can i not mix them together? both dogs have had both before but not at the same time and not smushed --- was smushing them the wrong thing to do? or was administering them at the same time the wrong thing to do? HALP!

2nd load on; one more to go there are still stains on the comforter *gnashes teeth*

right then... so it's like about 1:30 am and i'm ready to hit the sheets ONLY to find vomit in two spots on the bed [OH went to the 2nd bedroom cuz he couldn't deal ] so here i am, back at the computer at 2 am; a comforter in the wash with a set of sheets and a cover to go --- the cycle per load takes just short of an hour and that doesn't include drying! yes, i could dress the bed otherwise BUT i have to wash what is already stained *headslap* i guess this is some kind of payback for not understanding the appropriate treating of parasites in dogs; both were wormed with drontal [up to 10 kg] and they each got their dose of comfortis [4.6 to 9 kg] too [they are both being boarded tomorrow on account of me and the OH going on a 10-day break] they've had both drontal and comfortis before, but not together and this time too, i crushed up both and added it to their dinner --- neither of them ate all of their meal i won't do it that way again... bobbie got a dose too of 2mg worming paste --- she's a bit ansty, unsettled... this kinda sux!

mother moocher, i thank you from the bottom of my heart --- even tho it didn't work out for me this time [it was extremely short notice], it helped get me thru a difficult few days and as i said in my pm to you, it will be different next time ;) gsd fan, i will be looking into your services also, when next i need it to all the other posters, ty for your comments and insights --- i'm comforted by your stories over the past 30-odd hours, when i knew the pet sitting help wouldn't come to fruition, i've psyched myself up, prepared food and warmth for my two fluffies and kitty for a 'holiday on the farm' i'm still not so happy about it, but there's bugger all i can do about it now, and so, it is what it is... i gotta get myself off to bed now, cuz we're up before dawn tomorrow, intending to get on the road at about 7:30 am --- i'll revisit this thread when i get back just to let you all know that it was all but me being a worry wart

Definitely no socialisation - with people or dogs. But he is just overly friendly - throws himself bodily at everyone and everything. His previous owner said they had rabbits in a large hut outside in the yard with him and pup would constantly go and sit/sleep squashed up against the hutch. He showed no indication of wanting to attack them - more like wanting to play with them or just be with them. Poor love - just wanted company, maybe he thought they were his litter mates hee hee It's a wonder he didnt have an identity crisis - wait! Maybe that's why he jumps so much Okay now I'm just babbling - I think I'm exhausted! as much as i'm laughing at your jumping joke, i also feel horribly sad that this gorgeous lil man, in such a short life, had such a kind of turmoil!!! i am so glad you have him now --- he is where he belongs btw, get off the computer and go to bed!

yeah um hi there i was wondering if you could provide me with a dog of similar style in this pic but with the longer legs. it's called a chidane. i want one to carry my handbag. i'm not fussy on colour but xmas this year features lilac understood! i know a place ;) But if you get a dog that doesn't fart who will you be able to blame the smells on? says puppy_sniffer hahahahahahahahahaha ;) now see, i can imagine a couple of these adorably wee pocket pets as truly awesome xmas tree decorations so, a couple with bright purple eyes and a coat tinged with lilac would be perfect --- will they come in a box set? i'd like 10 let's negotiate cuz i'm not looking to breed...
