  1. I'd not make the desexing rebate a show stopper Poppy. The main things to look out for are good puppy raising and health testing. Thats a good point! I don't think it would be a deal breaker! But I am determined to find a breeder with a health garuntee and one who offers the 6 weeks free pet insurance. It was just make the whole experience (brings a new pup home) so much more enjoyable for me!
  2. We would like to get Poppy a play mate in the future. IF we do this I think I will want to go through a reigstared AND reputable breeder! I will be looking for someone who offers some sort of pet insurance, health garuntees AND a rebate for desexing. I know that sounds like I want a lot from the breeder BUT I know there are breeders out there who offer all of that and I know it would make my 2nd time puppy experience A LOT less stressful than this one has been!
  3. There was a mix at the Puppy Preschool I took Poppy (my 14 week old CKCS X) to on Monday night. We had one Lab breeder there with a puppy of hers (not sure why she came tbh!), two other Lab X, a pure Pug and a pure husky. I don't think any were from reg breeders. The Lab breeder who was there mentioned that they had bought their 12 week old pup to the session that had started 4 weeks ago. So I wondered how fast they were producing puppies.
  4. The area is DEF not inflamed or red...its just the creasy bits that had me concerned but I am thinking its normal now and thinking back it has always been a bit dark in her creases. I rang my vet and spoke to the vet nurse and she said to just watch her. She didn't think it warranted the consult fee if she wasn't off her food, or not weeing or showing any other signs of being unhappy/unhealthy. She said that there will be a vet on tomorrow and they will see me then if I feel the need but I will just keep an eye on it. She also suggested to show her girly bits to the vet on Monday night at Puppy Preschool...kind of a here look at this, is it ok thing! Lol! Thanks for your advice! I really appreciate it even though you don't consider yourself an expert!
  5. I suppose! Perhaps we will meet some nice people at Puppy Preschool to have puppy play dates with!
  6. Oh! I have that cream! We got it last time we went to the vet as Poppy hads been dragging her bum so it was a bit red. She didn't have worms and the vet checked her anal glands which were all fine so she thinks she is doing it after a poo or if its itchy which is apparently normal. Should I put the cream on now? Or just watch it?
  7. Yeh, I guess your right! Monday can't come fast enough for me! I think Puppy Preschool will be great!!! Would be nice to meet other people with puppies without having to pay each time though...like on the weekends etc.
  8. It would be so nice if there was! Only think I would worry about it vacc's since puppies arn't fully vacc'd...although maybe that would mean it wouldnt be an issue...hmmm
  9. Thanks! I'm tossing up the vet visit now. TBH money is tight for us atm and I don't want to go in if its not needed. OH said he had a good look at her bits today and they looked fine... Hmmm
  10. I agree! I should of been more clear in saying it wasn't something we could afford. We have just moved and of course that has eaten up all our savings so while its not something we can afford NOW it will be something we can afford over the next few months as we start building up our savings again. After July Pet Insurance is something we want to look at.
  11. Is there such a thing? Like a group of people who meet with their 8 - 16 week old puppies to play and socialise?
  12. This scares the bejeebus out of me. We would simply NOT be able to afford a vet bill of over $500 in one hit. So even with pet insurance we would be stuck! I hope and pray that we NEVER have to cross that bridge!
  13. We go to the Brassall Vet Clinic on Hunter St. We are first time puppy owners and have only been once for Poppy's 2nd lot of vaccines and for her microchip. The vet we saw (Debby) was lovely. Took her time to give Poppy a full health check. Answered all my "silly" first time owner questions, offered to clip her nails for us, went though a few puppy ownership basics with me and commented on how well we were doing and how great it was that we were proactive in informing ourselves about her needs. We start Puppy Preschool at their Karalee Vet Clinic next Monday! Am very much looking forward to it!
  14. The Active Pets afternoon at Battye's Park in Brassall looks great! I would of loved to have taken Poppy as we live nearby but she hasn't had her 3rd vacc. Will there be more events like this? We are new to Ipswich and so don't know many people, let alone people with pets. I think it would be a great opportunity to meet new people and let our puppy socialise!
  15. As the title states...does anyone know of an easy pattern or website that shows how to sew a doggy coat? I want to make one for my 12 week old CKCS X. I was thinking polarfleece and didn't want the type with the strap under the tummy but rather the full type. Thanks!
  16. It very well could be. She has a small feathering of white hair coming off her vulva which is wet after she wee's so I'm guessing girl dogs can't just shake it off like boy dogs can. I bathed it in warm water yesterday and it looked a bit better but I think for my piece of mind I will still take her to the vet this arvo. Even if its just to get some information on doggy girly bits as they are very foreign to me!
  17. We have been bathing Poppy weekly with aloeveen as it has been raining non stop here and everytime she goes outside she gets muddy and wet and dirty. She loves her baths!
  18. your dog 'should' allow you to handle any part of their body.It is a necessary and basic grooming/health procedure, after all Practise every day- when she is relaxed... rub/pat her everywhere! ears, open mouth, rub gums, lift tail, rub inner thighs/belly/touch around vulva.... handle feet nd look between toes... everywhere! Thanks! I do handle ALL of her most days to get her used to it. She did let me wash her vulva with warm water and look and poke but then got sick of it. Understandably! Lol!
  19. Sounds like protein stained hair, It's orangey/red on the skin and hair. Caused by licking and licking some more She does lick down there! And its always been a bit red in the creases of her vulva...I can never get a close enough look as she doesn't like me poking around down there and I don't blame her! Lol! Do you think I should still take her to the vet???
  20. We use "Quick Quick" too! She (12 week old CKCS X) is getting SOOOO good at doing wee's with that command...but the poos are very hit and miss. Do I need a different command for poos???
  21. Thanks Sway! I think I will get her vet checked just incase! For my piece of mind! Lol! I'm not even sure if its dry blood. She just has darkness in the creases of her vulva that looks a bit crusty. I don't know though...Ive never had a girl dog or even known one so to be honest her whole girly bits are very strange to me! OH kept asking what it was when we first got her home! He thought something was wrong with her! Haha!
  22. I wonder if it is a bit of puppy acne? She did have a spot on her belly a week ago...its gone now though... Hmmm...
  23. Hmmm...I hope someone comes along soon with some ideas!!!
  24. 23 views and no one has any ideas??? Bumpity Bump Bump!
  25. So this afternoon when I get home I gave Poppy (our 12 week old CKCS X) cuddles and was giving her a brush when she rolled over for a belly rub. On closer inspection of her girly bits I noticed that there seemed to be a little pustule just on the inner bit of her vulva and it also looked as though there was some crusty blood on her vulva. Of course I paniced and rang the vet but they can't see her till tomorrow! So what could it be? She is still weeing fine.
