  1. Don't agree with this though. When I was looking for my Cocker my girls were fairly young - oldest was 8, youngest was 18 months old when she came to us so they were quite a bit younger when I first started the search (took a looooooooooong time to get my girl ). I don't know the answer to why you aren't having much luck - it might just not be 'your time' There will be a pup/dog out there for you that IS the right one i believe in fate...and i am really starting to think its not my time :D My childrens ages are 4, 2 and 1...I tend to get the how do i cope now from ppl..and then it begs the question how will i cope with a dog aswell..You just do. and it wont make a difference to me , The dog will be spoilt rotten and have 5 people after its attention. I have 5 young children and cope perfectly well with our puppy!!! I find the more children you have the more organised you are.
  2. My hubby has always been the doggy person, our dogs have always bonded with him. They like me but will ignore me completely when he appears. But not Ruby!! She will ignore him completely when she sees me 100% of the time. It is really frustrating him because he isn't used to it at all...I LOVE it!!! She will sit at my feet, tail wagging, staring at me pleading for a pat even if he is laying on the floor calling her name right near me. If we both sit on the floor she will come straight over to me and lick me or lay next to me.
  3. Happy birthday Aubrey!! What a lovely picture!!
  4. I was standing in line at IGA yesterday to buy some bread and was looking at the for sale board. I noticed a sign for Staffy X JRT pups for $700 :D . My little mind just can't even conjure up what that strange combo would even look like!!! Love sure has got to be blind...I can't imagine what either dog would see in the other
  5. A couple were out walking their dogs...maybe a lazy couple who didn't want to carry their own thongs...but they were exercising their dogs none the less...unlike most pet owners who are lucky to venture out in the yard to see their dogs once a week!! Why does every discussion have to turn into a pissing contest about who knows best?
  6. good or bad?! Huge lack of sleep, but she is fantastic now!!
  7. That sucks but at least you get one more good nights sleep before she arrives I remember that first week
  8. I can't believe people have dogs in a workplace that has a constant stream of clients flowing through like that! I love dogs and have Ruby inside...but if I go somewhere like the hair salon I think it is unhygienic to have a dog roaming around in a business like that. If it was a pet store or a vet or something like that, or even an office with no constant public contact, I have no problem...but I think it's wrong in a public place.
  9. I am sure I was a member here a few years ago but could for the life of me remember my username or password. I joined to get as much info as I could and make some new friends who also were going through the puppy stage!
  10. I can so relate to this!! My hubby has started saying "God, her tail is wagging...what has she done wrong or destroyed now?"....the joys of a puppy!
  11. Don't have anything exciting to say really...but I am over this rainy weather!!
  12. OMG how cool was that!! I think it's a bulldog isn't it!
  13. He is CUTE!! Love his colouring and those eyes!! What a cute boy....Looks like they are great friends already!
  14. Ruby's new collar arrived today and it looks so cute!! It's fake croc skin and I love it!! She had a great sleep last night from 10 - 5am...hope it's as good or better tonight!
  15. I picked the BB for it's laziness, laid back attitude , love of it's family and that adorable squishy face! I thought about the frenchie but don't like the sticky up ears. And to be honest I think I made 100% the right choice. I wanted a smallish dog, but not tiny, more solid. I also wanted a dog that didn't jump around like a crazy psycho. All the adult BB's I have met fit my criteria exactly. And you can't beat a breed you still think is cute as an adult!!
  16. 2 year investigation? Good to see they have that much money to waste! I guess they have no puppy farms over there or anything worse so they have to do something to keep themselves busy!!
  17. OMG some people need to get a life!!
  18. Thats a super tough one! I would never just leave them behind after a disaster just because the shelter wouldn't let me bring animals. But I have 5 young children (all girls) who I would never purposefully leave without a mother. I don't think I would risk my life if it was seriously dangerous? I often worry that I wouldn't be able to save all 5 girls in a fire or something bad like that, let alone pets! But if all kids were safe and I could make an attempt I would. I would like to hope we could all just get out safely and I wouldn't have to make that choice!
  19. Maybe having to obtain a licence like you need to own a turtle or snake. People having to do a small course and test on the basics to owning a dog, cat, etc... And a fee, would maybe deter idiots. I think parents should have to do a course before becoming parents with a test that you have to pass and show 100% attendance or no baby bonus! ETA...compulsory training should be brought in too...just like microchipping....and proof of current vaccinations to be registered at a property.
  20. Jules - Awwww he is so sweet, I love the spotty nose! Niques - That is so cute that he put himself to bed...and what a cute little duck toy. Bluefairy - That looks great, you are very talented!! Update on us - last night went well. I left my bedroom door open a little (glass door out to the garden) and Ruby let herself out to wee/poo at about 2.30am and again at 5.30am!! Still have wee accidents of a morning while the kids are getting ready for school. Maybe she is distracted by them?
  21. Awww how cute are the bottle pics! Big tough doggy is gonna get that bottle!
  22. I know the feeling! I think it was the second night we had James, two of our neighbours were having separate parties - loads of people about -and I was out at 11pm wandering the lawn, in the rain, in my PJs, torch in hand, following a dog (who meandered all around the front lawn, no less!) so he could do a wee. It's just shocking isn't it!! Last night at 2.30am I was standing in the rain, feet in mud while Ruby was pouncing on little palm fronds in the garden, and growling at a little piece of bark. She is great and wees straight away, changes position then poos...but then likes to wander about pouncing on random things in the garden when I try everything to get her back out of the rain. She glances up at me desperately trying to get her out of the garden with this look like "When I'm ready mum!".
