  1. I think all of us in other States are thinking of everyone in the danger zones and willing you to be safe. How can all of this be happening to our country....fires, floods, cyclones.
  2. Update on Layka in Ipswich.......house completely under water
  3. My daughter is in Karalee - evacuated now with animals and if not gone already is expecting the house to go. On a flood plain so no house insurance either.
  4. Layka has evacuated from Ipswich with all dogs, cats and horse safe! Staying with a friend near Inala. House situation at Ipswich not looking good.
  5. You have said it so well redangel. Best thoughts to you, Greytmate, as you face this tough time.
  6. People used to tell me that I would know when it was time for my 16 year old lovely girl to go, but I thought HOW will I know? She declined over a period of two weeks, but it was when she tried to join the other dogs in welcoming home my OH and her legs went from under her and I realised I did know. It was time. We gave her the best night and took her to the vet the next day. It's so hard, Puppy Sniffer, but if you feel you can, when the time comes, let your face be the last thing your dog sees as she goes to the Bridge. As someone has said previously, you will know in your heart.
  7. So sorry Dogmad. What a beautiful tribute to your departed dog to keep rescuing others in need.
  8. Bosisto's Eucalyptus spray is a natural product which really does freshen a room. You can also put eucalpytus in the wash and as it is a natural antiseptic, it will kill germs as well........smells pretty good anyway!
  9. Agree with Poodlefan's suggestions....perhaps with a healthy dose of love thrown in.
  10. My beautiful girl was put to sleep last year by the vet who had treated her since puppyhood. The vet, the assistant, my husband and me all cried together as she went. They left us for a time to hold her and talked to us when we came out. A few days later a card and a special poem dedicated to our girl was received from the vet. They also held her ashes for me until I felt I could pick them up. Some people are just special.
  11. MissyPriss, When my lovely old girl went to the bridge last year I wrote a piece with all our memories of her, happy and sad and added photos from puppyhood to old age. As she had grown up with my family we had quite a few beautiful times to share. When she went I sent it to the family members and friends who knew and loved her too and we cried together. It is now my lasting tribute to her and in a way, has been very theraputic for me. Your dog will be in your heart always and someday you will look back and smile.
