  1. A lady at the park told me that her vet gives her dog a new 2 monthly tablet that protects against ticks and fleas for 2 months She can't remember the name of it. Anyone know what she talking about it costs $50 per tab
  2. Hi there, Should you only feel the "pea" size lumps of the anal glands if they need "doing"? I can't feel Sal's, but she scoots now and then mainly only around other dogs tho, not at home She's a meduim size Kelpie and has had some spring allergies the vet said "could be anything." The beach is better to her skin than the park.
  3. Thanks everyone. I guess I'll keep it up and not use any other chem's because admittedly, i do stop it during the winter, and it's only the 2nd dose this spring...here's hoping
  4. Thats really heart-breaking Are you friendly with them? Maybe if so, you could suggest they foster him out??? Better life to be had
  5. You are very kind :D Thanks for the feedback.
  6. i totally agree! Sally was fine with no distractions, but a nightmare with other dogs. I wouldn't have her any other way. Everyone says she is the friendliest dog they have ever met. But the gentle leader makes it so wonderful. Bliss and Happiness
  7. Hi, No response health forum, I try here Anyone using comfortis had any problems with length of effectiveness, noticed a flea yesterday only after 2 weeks. This was a new batch from Pricelss Pets. Last 6 months no problem. Thanks
  8. Hi there, Used comfortis last 6 months OK. Gave Sally dose (enough for 27Kg she is only 20kg) 2 weeks ago, and I have just seen a flea! She has been scratching like mad lately, but I thought it was her "spring skin" she gets each year. Anyone had reduced efficacy with this product? Thanks :D
  9. We have a solo dog, but she really LOVES other dogs to play, so we go everday to meet with other similar dogs. We wanted 2, but after a trial with 2 pups(siblings) when Sally was little, it was too difficult and they also started fighting alot. After much angst we rehomed one to a farm with older dogs. We might get another when Sally matures a bit more (shes 2). We have 2 cats as well.
  10. I was bitten by a cattle dog as a child. Everyone in the street used to sneak past their house! But I really like them now...well, after taking a look at their BODY language. Sally(Kelpie) is learning, now turned 2 she is finally getting it that not everyone wants to be her best friend (God love her, she wants to be friends with EVERY dog and human). It's weird but Sally seems to have her favourite breeds to play with. The GSD is one she seeks out if they are up for a play! (Maybe from watching too many Rex episodes ) Also as a kid my aunts Silky HATED kids and we were really scared of it! I Like the term Ceasar milan uses for bigger dogs as "POWERFUL"-Breed, not "aggressive"-breed, ie the outcome could be much worse for a BIG biter than a little one. The size can be of issue ie This morning i saw 2 large breeds having a wonderful play and the owner of another dog picked up his toddler just in time before they knocked over their stroller! Common sense prevailed
  11. Oh! Its also still avail for download from SBS: http://www.sbs.com.au/ondemand/video/2074053964/The-Secret-Life-Of-The-Dog-Full-Ep For 7 days!

  13. Hello, Just a dumb question By "bitch" is it standard that the dog is not de-sexed? Or do the dogs still have these problems even when neutered (so still called "bitch" on the Dol forum? Ta
  14. Really!!! I'll have to try it. Must be an anti-fungal in it or something. Thanks
  15. With spring comes allergies..... Does anyone have tips for itchyness? I have had some success with dilute apple cider vinegar washes and calendula tea.
  16. Oh thats fantastic! What a brilliant job you do.
  17. Oh dear, It's a terrible shame. When all we really want is to stop cruelty and the production of more unwanted pets. Perhaps there is some constructive ideas that Dolers can suggest to achieve that goal? (:
  18. Do you have any trouble getting them to eat it mixed in the food? I have one only eats dry food, she could be a problem
  19. Just saw Red Dog at the movies. LOVED IT!!!!!! It was wonderful to see an iconic Aussie film without any talking animals or Hollywood style special effects! (I just hope it doesn't make some stooopid people go out and buy a Red Kelpie and stick it in their backyard) And yes...I shed many a tear. What's your favourite doggy movie?
  20. I thought there was an "oscars Law" in Vic, and the campaigners just want to have the same in NSW????
  21. Hi, a while back there was a link to a great article on how to deal with dog fights. Can anyone give the link? There has been a few fights at the park lately (not mine) but I would like to copy the article for them as one of the elderly owner went to grab the collar of his fighting dog and got bitten badly. I remember them saying to grab the back legs. thanks.
  22. ok i'll take a look, and wipe just-in-case and see if she still does it. She also very rarely has a bit of a leak of urine when she's lying down after being thoroughly exhausted from a big play at the park.
