wow you are a super mum.. you give me hope!! hehehe Thankyou for your advice No super mum thats for sure (just look at my house ) but i just do bits at a time when i can and i have pup inside with me and the kids. He is going to be crate trained we are getting there he goes out the back to be a dog and he comes inside. The biggest thing is getting distracted with the kids and the dog does an ooopsy inside but i have my 8 year old trained as well now she takes him out and asks him to go. so as soon as i can see that distraction is coming she takes him to the loo or he is put out the back. He has lots of toys and he comes back when i can split my attention again. good luck in your choice you can do it oh and my partner works away so only get adult help when he is home if thats what his help is

can i ask how you teach the offer paw? thats a great one

Yes I know, I wasnt walking him for exercise so much as to begin to get him used to being outside. As the great Ceasar has stated in lots of his instructional videos, training begins before we even realise they can understand us. I did however check with the vet yesterday and he said that its fine to walk him, just not to other dogs or thru the park until his booster shots? he is your pup and do as you wish I had a pup nearly die of parvo and never sat foot into a park until he got his last needles. and plus 1 to the above poster

congrates of your pup he is lovely. please be very careful on walking a large breed at such a young age one he is not vaccinated fully and can pick up all sorts and too they dont need that much exercise. train him to walk in the backyard then out in public.

could i also sujest that you must relize this is a baby and is going to do some naughty things so he may still chew things up before he grows up at about 2. and please look into training with pup im currently doing the distance program with k9 pro. i can reccommend that. this pup will need alot or play and training have you thought of crate training? this is great also and yes pics are a must

hey, I am a mum of 3 kids 8, 3 and 10 months When i was preg i got my rotti boy, he was amazing with my daughter and right up til he got sick and was PTS he was the most careing and loveing dog to childeren. he did knock my daughter over a couple of times and we did tell him off and guess what he learnt to watch where he was going after that. Now im the proud owner of a samoyed boy, i was very up front with my breeder that i have young kids he did not mind and this boy apart from haveing to teach him that the baby is not his play mate (he tries to play puppy games with him lol) he has so far been great with the kids. Do i think a lab is a good idea, this is a hard one .............maybe maybe not they are GREAT pets when trained and worked with but not are monsters. i think if you are willing to do the work then go for it !!! I train my pup when bubs asleep mainly or i take him out the back where he loves to be and train the dog with bub playing out there. like someone said it is not rocket scince. Maybe look at other breeds are well unless you are set on a lab. and also im going to say get a pup unless you can get one you know where its been so to speak (i know im going to get shot for this) you dont want anyone eles problems to deal with it will make life much more work. and reserch reserch reserch

i think that also one thing i found was I had breeders when i emailed just give me 1 lined answers. or not very informative emails or just no answer at all. this would turn the adverage person off reg dog breeders it certinatly turned me off a certain breed. I can see why its easier for the unknowing to just go to a brb or pp because they dont have has much issues. I got a great puppy from a breeder who answered all my questions etc. but i can deffantly see how people could just walk away from going to reg breeders.

yes i read that also. hmmm oh well sometime people need to learn the hard way.

there was a breeder in vic i believe that i contacted a few months ago that was having pups closer to the end of the year? they where not cheap. i would be running a mile. i would recontact breeders but call them (my mate has a berner and that was the only way she got one) keep asking even contact the berner clubs in each state (something eles she did.)

LOL this reminds me of the DR harry days. when i was vet nursing all i wanted to do was shake Dr harry and say SHUT UP lol public believe unfortantly what the media says. we used to get but dr harry says ........... all the damm time.
-
i would be looking at getting the contract asap as you might not like what you see and they are normally none neg. i have seen one for a bernise and they had rights to your pup until they got a litter of 5 live pups you had to pay all the costs eg xrays etc and they walk away with pups worth what 1500 plus for nothing. we worked out she was raking in the $ so email ask to site this contract asap

hmm my kids and my family need me more then anything. So i would go early if i had to and take the dog and cat. if it was too late then i was forced to make the call i would to leave them behind maybe try to do something to help them. but humans are soo much more important then our fur babies. and i dont know how you could want to let your kids and hubby go and stay behind your child needs its mum and i dont think i could do that to my child. possiblely dieing to save a pet. i love my animals but my family comes first as heart breaking as it would be

hmm i think it sounds odd but i have not talked or seen the add. why not send it back to the breeder? does it have papers etc? have a look maybe at the house where is should be. I dont know im a little cynical -
Will Water Loving Dogs Swim And Swim And Swim
TsarsMum replied to Lucy's mama's topic in General Dog Discussion
there was a race horse in wa that did this. they called the owner and everything informing them the horse would have drowned when they lost sight of it. when it was found 35km away from where it swam out standing on a reef by a guy in a crane. it got it energy back and swam back to shore. animals are odd odd creatures -
i would ask your self do you have enough time for both? what happens if they fight? you will have to very domminate breeds matureing at the same time there is more likly then not a few cracker barneys this is regardless of sex. I would be waiting til your gorgess boy is older maybe a year or so 2 puppys make life 10 times harder not easier. i would have your boy going great and getting it (so to speak) he might be able to help teach the pup the ways of the household.
-
absolutly agree 110%
-
im someone who thinks you should be able to grab there food/bowl/bones etc as one day you might have too. i do this from a pup so i cant help you with this issue. maybe a trainer or someone close who could

I have 2 times been the person with the dog on the lead doing the right thing and the person with the other dog was not. My old boy was not DA but would have acted the same way if a a dog came bounding up to him while on a lead. He was a extreamly domminate dog (the difference being he would have let go the min i yelled) he also would have pinned and not bitten. My hubby was walking him and our other dog and this stupid guy with his german shep pup no lead letting it run riot on a road came bounding up and started jumping all over our dogs (these dogs are 50kg plus each) my hubby made both dogs sit pinned there mouth shut or there would haven not been anymore puppy left (this puppy would have been about 6 months. my hubby said if his hands were not busy he would have decked the guy. the guy just slowly walked up and said oh he is only a pupp WTF that does not matter when our 2 dogs rip it to shreads. I was sooo glad it was not me walking them that day as i would not have been able to hold them. This pup will be trained sooo differently. as the rotti has dommance issues from poor 'puppy play crap'. i wont do it again
