  1. Just the thought of minors (who seemed to me as per you post don't give a rats) taking dogs out without a leash is just
  2. Interesting, I heard a completely different story on the radio and tried looking on the news for it. They said they were attacked in the street, never mentioned they were the owners of the pitbull or the full story behind it. The way the media made it sound was some random dog in the street just went "crazy". Hopefully they recover but you'd really like to know the full story and treatment of the dog. I have friends in the neighbourhood there might try see if they know them.
  3. You poor thing!! how horrible, especially being a pup makes it hard. I would have done the same in picking pup up no matter what. Yes and I would report it, and if you happen to go back warn others. I always pass on info with anyone I see in my area of issues or incidents (that you get to know of course) it's nice when people warn me about people to watch out for so I am prepared. Also I'd like to know what beach, cant tell if you're in Syd Glad everything is alright though
  4. It's clear that you don't operate this way but I find odd the sort of semi-suggestion that because a dog would otherwise be dead, an inquirer should just take any old nonsense from a rescue group. If any rescue group operates like this then their dogs won't be adopted anyway. That's the thing, people go to pounds before rescue groups often because they know it's 1: easier to get the dog, 2: they are saving the dog from having to go to another place before being permanently placed, and 3: they are saving them from death row. What I don't understand is why a rescue group would think that a dog which has been in a pound for a while and potential owners have come and seen the dog and declined, would then go to a rescue organisation to get this unwanted dog and pay twice as much for it as they would have straight from the pound. I see many dogs at the pounds which rescue don't want because they know they probably aren't re-homeable and the ones which would be easy to home they snatch up. What's the point in that if the dog would most likely be sold straight from the pound to a good family? I think some pounds it's easier, but some aren't. What about pounds that puts dogs on a tender system so whoever bids the highest $$ gets the dog no questions asked. Sorry but I think that's wrong 1.) Putting an "auction" on a dog like that 2.) Family/Person meet the dog, then be told sorry you need to put a bid in, then the family get upset when they don't get the dog over a price. The other issue is you don't know who is buying these dogs and some may not be desexed and making the problem worse. I know of one they are trying to stop the tender system because it may be doing the opposite and turning people away from rescuing these dogs.

    What To Do?

How sorry to hear about Sookie, must have been really hard. I think you will know whats right to do, if it were me, I need at least 2 weeks or so for everything to sink in till I made a decision. I am sure you guys will get another puppy but just make sure she is ready (usually always once you meet a new pup you will feel much better) In comparing dogs, I agree another breed makes it easier or yes another colour. Good luck and lots of
  8. Great idea, been waiting for this for a long time hopefully will reduce many cases.
  9. We adopted Tahli from RSPCA the lady who interviewed us was excellent, and I did not feel intimidated by questions by all means come to my house and check it out. As someone said you learn from your mistakes. Even do a criminal check, whatever. You do what you do if you really want the dog. I'd be cautious if I was working in rescue, I bet you a number of people lie on the questionnaire, as the lady at the RSPCA said to us, so many people get caught out lying about having kids or owning other dogs etc. So no I don't think they are unreasonable. Because someone might lie about having a cat, bring dog home, dog kills it, then they get rid of the dog again. Sorry but I am very passionate about rescues and thats just my opinion..
  10. Yep Tahli's a mama's girl cant wait to have cuddles this afternoon !!! As for the sookyness, not sure I think it's starting She's just my little lamb follows me everywhere, even sits at my feet when blowdrying my hair ha ha

  14. I just hope the scum gets caught, what a fool Pup will find a home in no time for sure. Just hope their legal system follows through with what they said, unlike here.
  15. I'm just so sick of the legal system RIP Mac
  16. Awww dyzney how gorgeous :D Lovin the froggie pics!!
  17. Hi All, So who's dogs lay down with the frog legs? Is this a sign of anything bad? Heard different rumours but it amazes me how they do it. She only started this few weeks ago. Even though I find it cute, and several of my previous rotties did this, wondering who else's dogs do this?? and if any pics pls upload :D
  18. That's what's annoying I took Tahli to the oval on Friday for a walk and I saw this lady let off her German Shepherd to walk freely (it's not even fenced off) It just stuns me I don't know what this dog is like could be a really good dog who knows, but it clearly says at the entrance all dogs must be on lead. Why do people think they are above it all and just let them off? not saying the GS was bad but people keep taking the risks and look who suffers? Hope she recovers soon Kiesha good luck with everything ;)
  19. 5 years!? Are these judges crazy?? I wouldn't let that person near 100 ft of an animal ever again!! Or he needs serious lessons on what dogs need and prove it before he can handle one again.
  20. Obviously still doesn't get through to people in my area, went for a nice walk and all 3 times I found dog poop in all different parks, so I picked it all up. It just takes 30 seconds. Amazes me, id do the same if I saw someone leaving it behind, I'd grab and chase too
  21. Tahli is doing this too. She doesnt have any fleas or anything noticeable on the skin I have checked over and over. It's most likely environmental. I am going to try the t-shirt idea too otherwise making an appointment Wednesday to find out what to do. It's driving me nuts just seeing it!
  22. My thoughts are with you, sending prayers she will be ok and come out of it poor thing
  23. If you know so much about Cesar Millan and his work, then you would know about Nu Nu the little chihuaha. A RED ZONE case. Don't believe me, go to his website and search for Nu Nu, she died this year of old age. If people have a red zone dog, they should seek PROFESSIONAL help. It amazes me that you even know about Cesar Millan as you have only whinged about Bull breeds and how bad they are, considering he's an ambassador for the big bad Pit Bull I watch every episode of Cesar, and have to agree, and also add that I see every kind of dog in this show big or small so that to me confirms that it's all types of dogs not particular breeds. At least Cesar doesn't go along with the media and all the journo's in presenting only particular breeds, if anything he tells you it can be ANY dog and that show proves it to me.
  24. How ADORABLE is he???! sorry just had to write that
