Raised Bumpy Rash On Staffy Pup
Mason_Gibbs replied to NOCTRL's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
A bit long winded don't you think Ok seriously though, point taken. Well bred Staffordshire Bull Terriers are not predisposed to skin issues. Interestingly we still see well-bred Labrador retrievers with a relatively higher incidence of skin disease. Parents who are fully health tested and have never had a litter affected by allergies can suddenly and out of the blue produce entire litters affected by allergies. There are plenty of pedigree "well bred" AmStaffs and Staffords with allergies. Plenty of people out there breeding from dogs that "0nly get a little bit itchy when they lay on grass". I've had breeders of both breeds say to my face "there are no allergies in my lines" and then go on to say "oh, she itches on the grass, but..." It's out there if you know what you are looking at / what questions to ask and its far more prevelant than people like to think. ETA: I say that as someone with a decade in AmStaffs and a long term owner of two dogs with allergic skin disease. I've spent that decade doing a lot of research on this issue. Whenever I go to the derm the dogs before or after our appointment are either labs or staffy's. My lab comes from a registered ethical breeder and he has allergies. -
Wishing Bondi & Louis luck

Some Ideas To Keep Heelwork Exciting

Our strategy is similar, we use the 2 food game now to gee him up and then go straight into heel work. Kath & Kim heelwork ??? Tell me more??? -
Yup I can't really comment about Train a pup time as it was too far for us, loved pup school at our club tho as its very controlled but did not enjoy the vet one.

Some Ideas To Keep Heelwork Exciting
Mason_Gibbs replied to Mason_Gibbs's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
We did a seminar at the beginning of the year and were told to have a play first as that gets them excited, I'm afraid my dog is too laid back and placid if I don't try get him moving before hand he lacks enthusiasm and looks like a slow motion wind up toy who's batteries are running flat -
Yes Train a pup time. Is it for some1 who hasn't had a dog before?? I found pup school this time around very boring and a bit of a waste of time. I'm even battling in club classes as I know how to teach most things. I would skip classes altogether but then he wouldn't be able to do the club comps

Absolutely bucketing down in the south, now! Ahhh love to listen to the rain when I don't have to be out in it :D But hope for your sake mirawee that it stops! Ruby and Millie saw Tracy today for their first Bowen session. Millie was a bit sore in a shoulder and her buttocks But nothing severe so doesn't need a follow up session. I mentioned to Tracy about Millie being a bit incontinent when she drinks heaps of water and weeing herself when she is asleep. So she did her thang down in Millie's private areas and says that should fix it And if in summer she is starting to suffer from it again to come and see her again when it's happening as she can treat it then. Awesome! If this natural way works then I won't need to put her on medication for it Worth a shot I say :D Millie was so at ease for a lot of it, she was laying on the table for belly rubs My poor Ruby, I knew she was sore. Turns out she was very sore Pinched nerves in her shoulders with her left shoulder worse, causing her to not be able to extend her front legs and short stepping. It went diagnally across her back to her right hind leg so it kind of explains why on recalls/retrieves she comes into me at a diagonal She is booked in for a follow up session in 10 days. Tracy reckons she should be good as gold come the weekend Here's hoping I see the results I'm after :D I have noticed Ruby stepping a bit short worse with the 1 front leg but thought I was maybe just how she moved etc, glad its fixed up :D

Mason_Gibbs replied to dubbleyoo's topic in General Dog Discussion
Gibbs eats any sticks and bark he can find when out walking, i take them off him but sometimes he is too quick!! Last week he ate some of the hosepipe pooped it back out, he has also eaten a plastic bowl.Oh and he is only 17 weeks..
