  1. I have tried all the vets all natural complete mix and that does not agree with my dog. Thanks for the suggestion but I would need to clear it with my dermatologist first.
  2. My dog is allergic to grass pollens, was your dog tested for allergies?? If it's the pollens causing it I'm afraid they breathe it in and no amount of topical stuff helps. We use antihistamines, pred and immunotherapy desensitization injections. Go and see a dermatologist it's the best bet.
  3. My dog has allergies and his face has been really itchy the last few days
  4. Seems that Gibbs has a really sore toe... Here I am stressing about OCD and you name it and he has a possible fracture of the toe, he is on anti inflams and will get X-rays in a few days if no better
  5. If that's true than on an elimination diet why do people get told to feed sweet potato and a novel protein? Normal potatoes can be a prob but they are the only veg I know that can cause a prob. Raw can be balanced but ts not as simple as people think you need to actually follow a formula ie this much % of this and this much of that. If you had seen a dermatologist you would have all the info they print out and give you as an patient and therefore would have more facts, not being funny just telling it how it is. ETA, people like me who have a dog with severe allergy problems will understand that I have tried all sorts of things, feeding this, doing that but at the end of the day it's not as simple as people think.
  6. I'm not altogether sure that we will make the dinner Friday, Gibbs needs X-rays this week and we will see what they show, if he in the unlikely event needs an op we won't be leaving him at home, I'm taking him to the vet in a couple of minutes so will see what he says...
  7. By choice that is what I'd do, but if mine have to go to kennels then they have to be vaccinated within 12 months of their stay Most kennels accept titres now
  8. Don't know where you get your info from but veggies don't trigger allergies in dogs btw!! Have u ever seen a dermatologist?? Canidae is grain free so he has no issues on it. He is eating half a cup of kibble with raw each day and IMO growing puppies need a balanced diet I wouldn't take a chance and do raw for a puppy
  9. I title my older boy, will probably vaccinate Gibbs in 12 months time then tire him too.
  10. Roo, goat and lamb meat and bones, a variety of veges ( cooked) cheese, sardines ( fresh not tinned), sweet potato or pumpkin ... Pears, banana, yoghurt... I can't think of what else I'm leaving out....
  11. My lab hasv been going red too in some patches, did expensive tests etc but nothing was found, he was on home prepared but is now on raw with a bit of Canidae and it's slowly coming right, I think his was just dead coat I think. I would try BH for him too but he is allergic to rice
  12. I'm taking him in to my vet tomorrow for a consulte after chatting to him on the phone this AM. I'm also waiting for the radiologist to phone me back from PVE to hear if we decided to o for an MRI how much it would be., although my vet feels X-rays shod be sufficient.
  13. Mason and I may be on the same diet soon I may have celiac disease
  14. What sort of an injury?? He leapt off a wall and landed heavily on his right front. Turned his elbow cartilege into a serrated mess. The first vets we saw were all for operating blah blah. Metcalfe said it was ridiculous, as the serrated cartilege would be smoothed out over time - which it was. MG, could Gibbs have panoesteitis? Are you sure he's always limping on the same leg? Zep (our Lab) also had this. They grow out of it, but it can last throughout puppyhood and is common in large-breed puppies. It's basically irregular calcification of the long bones as they grow, causing pressure and pain (kind of like if you kick your shins on a table). No I'm afraid it's always the same leg that he limps on, I'm beginning to think maybe I should take him to Applecross but then I do trust my vet and should maybe let him do the X-rays, I'm just very confused ATM.
  15. A lot of people recommend Steve at Applecross, is he a specialist of any sort??
  16. Have a google CC it's basically a cartilage type disorder which affects the joints. Both vets feel its highly unlikely that's it's OCD so I'm not too too stressed. I guess from here I can either try a round of anti inflams which I haven't done as yet and then get my vet to X-ray, scared to use Perth specialists as they won't be cheap and an MRI is just out of my price range I think
  17. Well if it's not tendon/ligament it something which could be far worse. Both my vets are against crating as they feel you need movement to heal ( no hooning off course all on lead walking etc). If its not tendons ligaments it could potentially be something like OCD which is far worse I think. Hoping it's just muscular....
