  1. Dont buy while shelter pets die! Example of alienating.
  2. This morning I woke up with a certain young dog under the doona, lying right along side me with his head on my shoulder/arm... Yeah, he is not spoiled at all..... (oh by the way, I got up and had shower, got dressed, came back into the room, he was in the same position but with my husband!!!Yep, definitly spoiled)...
  3. Yep... My husband falls for it every single time Maui usually lies across his legs in the evening...He will get down of the couch and sit by the back door, so my husband gets up to let him outside. As soon as he gets to the door, Maui will run back to the couch and lie down in the warm spot! I laugh every time
  4. Isnt it funny how things change?? I was just reading through this old thread from when we first got our boy.. Wow.. Yeah he MUST be an outside dog... Pffft.. That went out the window..... Maui is wherever we are! He has his own bed next to ours where he sleeps every night... Things didnt turn out how I thought they would, but you know what, I wouldnt change a thing! Maui thinks he is a human and just wants to be around us. (even on the bloomin toilet he follows) I had some weird ideas when I first got him, I just think its so funny how a dog can change your perspective of everything...
  5. We have a concrete backyard, so we bought some fake grass. My boy now only wees and poops on that now. He was trained to go there from about 3 months old
  6. I had never heard of the tea idea before! Thank you will get Husband to do this as soon as he gets home...
  7. I have washed it out a few times with warm water, even managed to sqeeze a few drops of water in to try flush anything out. (Hes such a good dog to let me do that)... He doesnt seem to be squinting, well he wasnt this morning... Hubby is out surfing at the moment so when he gets home he will keep an eye on him...
  8. My boy Maui (Will be 1 year old this month) has had a weeping eye since yesterday morning. It has a bit of gunk in it. We have been washing it with warm water when we can.. Yesterday the gunk was green (according to husband), now its clear (well, it was this morning)... Overnight his eye crusted a little and he had a bit of trouble opening it before I gave it a rinse... I really dont want to rush him to the vet every time something isnt right.. But I was wondering if this has happened to anyone and if I shopuld take him or not? (My first dog, so I am as usualy over protective).... He was his usual insane bouncy self this morning before I left.
  9. I have a Jack Russell Terrier named Maui, who will be one year old on the 27th
  10. My JRT Maui loves Purina Supercoat (Small Breed, purple one). We tried many different types of dry food and this was the one he liked the best so this is what he eats
  11. There is a big difference between a JRT and a lab. Many labs would end up crippled if they ran 5 - 7km as pups - their joints wouldn't handle it. Ahh ok, see I didnt realise that. Learn a new thing every day Thank you!
  12. We have a 9 month old JRt who goes for 5-7 km walks daily, if he doesnt he would drive us mad!!!. I honestly also think people take exercise rectriction too far, what about all those working dogs whoa re running km's since they were wee yound pups!.. Our dogs walks are not on concrete, its on grass (oh and puddles, he LOVES finding puddles, the muddier the better) and he runs around at his speed, stopping, starting sniffing, he loves it.. You just have to mention the W word and he runs to the door.
  13. I posted once to asked how to get our puppy used to sleeping in his pen... He now spends 3/4 on his bed next to ours (he was supposed to be an outside dog, heheh) then jumps up on the bed around 5am for cuddles (well cuddles with my feet)..
  14. This is my boy taking advantage of a lazy weekend without my husband. We watched DVD's and drank champers (well, I did) and nibbled on cheese and kabana..
  15. Just a short n funny one.. We had a minor car accident on the weekend and I have a sore/stuff neck from it. My husband was rubbing Deep Heat on it this morning, I was sitting on the floor in front of him (who was on the couch).. Maui was watching on with curiosity and then jumped on the back of the couch with his paws on my husbands shoulders! It would have made the funniest photo. It was like he was copying..
  16. Gota be in it to win it!!!
  17. http://www.news.com.au/national/year-old-dog-patches-saves-himself-from-death-row-by-singing-happy-birthday/story-e6frfkvr-1226099609964 A TRILLING terrier has saved himself from death row - by singing Happy Birthday. Poor old Patches' elderly master passed away and, in the confusion that followed, the 17-year-old ended up in the pound. As relatives desperately tried to find him, it seemed the search for the dog, who used to howl along as his master sang, would be in vain. But then a Victorian Dog Rescue foster carer found a dog matching Patches' description at Mildura Pound - and was asked to sing Happy Birthday to it. "I started singing to him and at first he got a sad, faraway look in his eyes, just like he was thinking about something or missing someone," Kaye Grivec said. "Then he put his head back and started howling along with me and I just burst into tears of joy." Marie Vassallo, the Sydney-based daughter of Patches' late master Eddie, said the dog had spent hours sitting on her father's knee while he sang songs to him, mostly in Italian. "When they finished singing, Dad would say, 'Bravo, bravo, Patches' and Patches just loved it," she said. "When it was anyone's birthday, Dad would telephone them and sing Happy Birthday to them with Patches singing along. It was Patches' favourite song and it became a family tradition for Dad and Patches to sing it together." Mr Vassallo was 82 when he died three months ago. Patches had been his constant companion for 15 years. Ms Vassallo said she was heartbroken in the aftermath of her father's death to discover Patches had gone missing and probably would have been impounded for at least three weeks. "It meant his time on death row would have been up and he had probably been destroyed," she said. "But through Victorian Dog Rescue we were able to find him again in Mildura and now we are organising to have him brought to Sydney to live out his life with us." Ms Vassallo praised the animal organisation for "doing the impossible and rescuing old dogs no one wants from pounds and then finding new homes for them." "Patches would be dead and buried by now except that Victorian Dog Rescue go the extra lengths to find homes for dogs others think are impossible to place," she said. "In this case, they have returned a much-loved dog back to his very grateful family."
