  1. Monday's biopsy confirmed the cancer is back, also lumps have not shrunk after chemo. We are attempting now to rescue, with daily Macrolone tablet and weekly chemo. Struppie is still extremely happy, obese and always hungry from steroid tablets. Not looking forward to the future anymore. Thanks Bindo, already have three GWPs buried in paddock. Latest photo of the boys, taken a day after chemo.
  2. That's nice news, hope you have the pleasure of Emma's company for a very long time.
  3. My old mum watched it last night and loved it, she wanted me to look it up. Thanks for posting, saves me having to google for it.
  4. My husband and I left Germany in 1969, seems we left at the right time. We were shocked to find out, through this post, that sex with animals was legal over there all these years. All the jokes one hears are about NZ and their sheep, new opening here.
  5. Wishing a quick recovery for your much loved pets, such a sad and worrying time, so sorry. Long ago, I lost a Tasmanian grey Kelpie to ticks, and had a Blue Heeler survive. Had no tick problems with GWPs since over thirty years. Atm I live in the bush near Bateman's Bay, thick tick country. I never have to use any tick control chemicals or search for ticks, they fall off and die/shrivel up in front of me. These dogs must be lethal to ticks??
  6. Hi, thanks for all your good wishes. My vet is puzzled why only 1x lymph node in neck (not throat) and 1x above knee/hindleg have enlarged, so she did a biopsy from those lumps, a blood test, also Struppie was given a dose of IV Vinblastine, which might be repeated weekly, on top of his 2nd daily Macrolone 20mg tablet. Struppie was picked up by his mate Adi and mum, arrived home eager and tail wagging. Both dogs feasted on a nice warm roast chicken, then fell asleep.
  7. Our Struppie, who suffers from Lymphoma, was treated with chemotherapy from 21.05.2012 - 07.11.2012. Three weeks after ending his treatment, he has relapsed, and because he is still so active and eager to go, our dear vet will start him on a different chemo drug/treatment tomorrow. Big disappointment for me, hope my money can buy him life/time. Just thought his story might be interesting to people with dogs suffering from cancer. Struppie is the blonde/clipped GWP on the left in photo, Adi, on the right, is the pup who was brought up by Struppie, like only a mother could.
  8. Adi, ready to take on the visitors at the dinner table, love him or leave.
  9. erinonthefarm and Julesā™„Cavs your thumbnail is so cute and made me giggle, that's exactly my place. Have to post it on my facebook page. Dogs first, horses second, people come third, that's what life taught me.
  10. Kissies on the cheek are encouraged, but sometimes - when they are exuberant, they jump up and kiss you smack on the lips. Their lives are too short to worry, have to cherish while it lasts, my husband warns me of catching a disease off dogs.
  11. She looks very nice and kind, have a happy life together, congrats. :)
  12. Lovely, that Emma is doing so well and makes you happy.
  13. You are awesome. More and more Greyhounds will get out into the community over time and each one will be a living, breathing endorsement and advertisement around what fantastic pets they make. In turn, this will lead to even more being adopted instead of killed.... hopefully we will see some in your neighbourhood soon! Greyt, I hope so, too. Will be chewing over this issue/waste, with tears in my eyes.
  14. Can't stop peoples' "recreation at any price", this is their entitlement. As we all know, to distance ourselves, we believe: animals have no pulse, they are already dead on their feet, also, they have no feelings and do not feel pain, like we do. I don't see any rehomed greyhounds around here, heard some end up at tips with tatoos removed. I am a nutter and do my share, I have adopted victims of the horse racing industry, love them and provide them with a lifelong home.
  15. DR, so sad to read your post. You tried the best possible treatment for your Bison, my deepest respect.
  16. My eight year old GWP is battling Lymphoma. He runs in a very large yard - where I sprayed Glyphosate around the shrubs, every year of his life. I am wondering if there is a connection, or if his grief, after losing his brother two years ago, may have caused his demise.
  17. Where there is life, there is hope, hang on Emma.
  18. Yes, it makes me sad to think of my pet's birthdays, both dog's and horse's. At the same time, I try to make their life with me a pleasure. Everyday is happiness, as long as they are still around!! :D :D
  19. Lovely to see Emma doing so well for you, hope she will be with you for a long time to come.
  20. So sorry to read your sad news update on Bison. You gave me hope, that there might be a fair chance to buy more time for our GWP Struppie. He is having chemo tomorrow - not yet in remission, lumps already came back after 3 weeks of no chemo, now trying more aggressive treatment. Great to have a permanent job.
