  1. Oh noooo I can't see them! It might be because I don't have permission - wanna be facebook friends? :D I'm Allie Levine..
  2. Gemma was a papered toy poodle, died of old age at approximately .. 17? Blitzen I believe was also papered (though not 100% sure), miniature poodle, PTS 4 years ago at age 15-16 ish. He had some sort of heart problem and was on meds from about age 7, also had arthritis toward the end.
  3. Don't worry, I just arrived at mum's house to pick Mimi up.. she basically looks like Hairy McLarey. And Maggie has a home hair cut. So whatever Toby and Leo look like, they can't look as mangy as mine!
  4. I'll bring Mimi too to add an extra dog! She lives with mum but is my little heart dog. Who er, can be a bit of a bitch a times. Nothing I don't deal with every time we go to the park though
  5. Absolutely. Actually, I can count on one hand the number of breeds I could realistically ever own, due to my allergies and asthma. But theoretically, it would definitely put me off. The little poodles I had growing up lived to 16-18 - that's the kind of life expectancy I want!
  6. Yay, so glad Leo is going to be there! I've been silently admiring him for ages..
  7. Let me guess - Sophie is a greyhound?
  8. Travesty! I'm happy to go ahead with a short one too - no idea how long they usually last anyway! After lunch would be best for me, but will drag OH out of bed early if required
  9. I don't know what you mean. I mean if its is the state CCs code then we need to trust that they will accept the complaint and make an informed judgement and take appropriate action It seems like quite an opaque process, from what I have read in this thread. If people don't have confidence in something, or understand how it works, they can't be expected to trust it.
  10. Really?? It's in English for me: http://southernstarsarp.com/index-old.htm The breeders (Southern Star) came to Australia from the US according to that site, but yep, apparently it's an old Yugoslav breed. from http://southernstarsarp.com/History.htm
  11. Yes!! My old dog Mimi does this, but none of the others do. I actually find it hilarious, particularly cause she's so serious and concerned looking. It definitely sounds very primeval and wolf-like I agree.
  12. Wow, what magnificent looking dogs. Please please post some pics when you get him!
  13. Gorgeous video, that's the kind of thing that goes viral! I'm not a cat person at ALL but videos like this make me think that maybe they're not so bad after all...
  14. I was going to bump this up too! I'm way too excited... :D ETA - I can actually bring 2 dogs if we need to make up numbers. My old Mimi lives with mum but I can bring her along too, she'd probably have a ball.
  15. I was walking my foster greyhound one day when he caught sight of a cocker spaniel puppy on the other side of the park. He went from about 3km/hr to the speed of light before I could even register that I was flat on my face being pulled across the park. I was dragged about 20-30m before letting go of the lead and jumping up to run after him. It was a long walk home with mud and grass embedded all through the front of my shirt, pants, face, hair.. everything. Horrible! The poor puppy didn't know what hit her, cause the grey just appeared out of nowhere. She is fine though - now a lovely, well adjusted dog who I frequently see at my park.
  16. List of dogs Snout Girl- Bert, Sally and Bruce (and an OH) Alkhe - Maggie (and probably OH) List of food Snout Girl- Zucchihi fritters, sausages, sauce Alkhe - something sweet, tbc! (open to suggestions also..)
  17. Yep, chocolate is bad because it contains theobromine. The darker the chocolate, the greater the quantity, so dark chocolate is worse than milk, which is worse than white chocolate. Anything with chocolate in it is therefore bad, but it varies in how bad. And how bad will also depend on the size of the dog, as with most poisons etc. Chocolate cake may be less bad than a block of chocolate cause there's probably less actual chocolate in it. But.. still bad. As for onions, I'm not sure about how toxic they can be, and whether cooking affects it. I personally wouldn't worry about a little bit in some leftovers, but would judge it on how much there is. Someone else may have a more logical way to determine it though!
  18. If he's smaller than a JRT or a Toy poodle, he's not a Parson. Aww! Ah well, I wonder what he is - probably just a small.. something. Who knows. I'm going to take some photos tomorrow and get some opinions.
  19. Great, thanks for your advice Ams and cavNrott - will give them a call first thing. I'm never sure whether I'm overreacting and/or being paranoid, but I'm so glad this forum exists to reassure me I'm not completely insane worrying about these things!
  20. The other day I saw a little wet patch on the couch where Maggie had been lying, and thought she must've been licking herself or something, and licked a wet patch on the couch (or I'd spilt something and not realised). I didn't think anything of it. I just noticed it again though- she had just been lying there just chilling and I noticed a very wet patch under her vagina. It's not urine, it seems a bit thicker and is clear. Occasionally she does a tiny wee when she gets really overexited, but she's only 4 and not incontinent. A few minutes after finding this patch, I checked again (she had moved on the couch) and there was another wet patch underneath her. Does anybody have any ideas as to what this could be? Does this just happen sometimes or it is an early sign of a UTI or something?
  21. My Maggie is obsessed with socks too. And tights, when I'm putting them on and they're a bit hanging off the end of my foot. I love that you bought Rosie her own pair - I wonder if Mags would stop stealing all ours if she had her own! She even stealthily makes her way into my housemates' rooms and steals their socks while I'm in the shower every morning. Either housemates' socks or the recycling bin..
  22. Wish I could add something to this, beyond that there's a little Parsons at my park, who's a gorgeous little guy. He is smaller than a JRT, though his owners refer to him as a Parsons Jack Russell. I just thought it was a .. variation fo the breed or something. He's fine boned and actually a bit smaller than my (small) toy poodle, and very nimble. He's from the wife's brother's farm, where he was bred- no idea where, though it's somewhere in Vic. And no idea whether they're registered or what the deal is- he was a Christmas present about 2 years ago, and is the first dog either of them have owned. He's awesome! Thus ends my inane rant.
