  1. I think greytmate has said words of wisdom again :) maybe why the instructors haven't helped much with this lady is they them selfs haven't has much experience with this sort of breed, one breeds westies 3 breed BC and one breeds toy and standard poodles. I haven't noticed any negativity in my obedience club towards others we are quite a freindly bunch, I haven't seen anyone getting annoyed at the lady to make her upset or anything I went to talk to her to be freindly :) she was shy but a lovely lady. I think some people have left beause they have been there a year and have made real progress with there dog and don't want to drive in there every Monday night. The problem in our club at the moment is the size of of the class like mine we had to be split into 2 groups and we still a big class so some people who need help are getting ignored.
  2. Anyway I dunno where some people got the idea I was being rude, and judgement about the lady I was just wondering why some people choose dogs that really are not best suted to them. And also who thought it would be a good idea to sell that type of dog to the lady who is a very shy and timid person and without informing them about perticular aspects of the breed. And what training would be required. Is it looks that people mostly go on to choose their dog? Or is there just too much miss information out there? Or maybe both :)
  3. I've done that before, let alone seen it. Not in class tho' come to think of it, falls into the category of "only in the car on the way home"!! I have done that too after rridin lessons and when I got kovu my GSD and the instructor told me his ears where too big bit of mean thing to say to a 12 year old
  4. There was a young girl about 13 years old with a really timid snappy boreder collie the other instructor did alot of private one on one with her and now she is so much better and same with a few different people that are struggling. But this poor lady clearly needs extra help and is obviously getting frustrated, and should still be in the intro class. I would help but I'm on such a tight time frame living 1 1/2 hours away as by the time we finish it is 8.30 I need o get zorro home to feed him and let the horses out on my way Maybe I should ask one of the instructors see if they have noticed.
  5. I never labeled her as incompetent, just maybe not suted to the dog/ type of dog as she was struggling. And to be Honist I was surprised the other instructor didn't do some one on one with her. I'm too glad to see she is at training but I also think she should have said in the lower class longer as it is small so she would have gotten a bit more it of it, as class 2 is rather large
  6. There is a new lady in our class at obedience, and I can't help but keep on thinking WHY???? She has so much trouble training her malamute, he is typically stubborn and just dosen't listen to her but she just just laughs about it :s Say we are all simply doing the sit commarnd her dog will just lye down and not listen but she just stands their pleading with the dog to do it, instead of telling it and maybe trying different things and using a powerful voice. I asked her the other day about why she chose that breed and she said she liked them, that was all. And apprently she did alot of reading about them before she got a pup. But she is just obviously just not a strong enough person to coupe with a breed like that. Sigh oh well...... Rant over
  7. OMG i have always wanted a Sheltie i might get one as my next dog its still to hard to decided between another cocker and one.........omg they are too cute nawwwwwww
  8. Why not increase training and do fun stuf inside that's that I do, we do new tricks and play hide and seek tug of war all different stuff
  9. OMG some people where born with a pole in the wrong place and noooooo sense of humor. i love that ad
  10. As the dog obviously didn't have any recall that was why he was on a lead the owner was doing the right thing, it is just unfortunate that the lead broke, it's not like the owner let him off run around like a loony, and I would be glad he was not aggressive :) hope your ankle is better soon. And I'm glad your dog is okay.
  11. I talk non stop to zorro, my OH just laughs.
  12. The gate they manged to unlatch it :) it was down the far end of the bottom paddock I think they scratched their head on it and it must have opened. They have now padlocked it
  13. i had a look for other posts but couldn't find any but i will tell them that the neighbor can't shoot their dog on their property. they have changed the the lock already. and the acres are full dog proof fencing they did a really good job when they are out the dog is locked in the house as she is a stay at home mum so is home 95% of the time anyway, and there is a separate garden fenced area. she has a horse that the dog is fine with but they where worried about how he would be with cows and sheep so that's why the new fencing was put up just for him :) as it is a shared fence they put the gate in as there was one there before. she went to feed the horse and found cows in the paddock and that's when Max chased them. anyway i will tell them to stop panicking
  14. I'm asking for a friend, A freind of mine has a lovely GSD and they have about 10 acres of land with they have fenced with dog fencing they put a new gate as well between their property and the naighbours, Some cows got through the new gate ( they don't know how) and well their dog was chasing them around on their property not the naighbours they tried to get the dog in but he was having to much fun running around. So they called the naighbour to come help get his cows of their land. So he came over and yelled at them about their dog chasing the cows and was threatening to shoot the dog. Anyway the cows are back and the dog is fine and try have changed the lock on the gate. But they are still concerned about the naighbour shooting their dog. Would that be illegal to shoot the dog on its property as it was his cows that broke through. They asked me but I didn't know I just know if the dog was on the naighbours property then yes. It probably won't happen again but they are worried.

  16. Well we went to te outback spectacular last night and it was soooo good :) they had some beautiful border collies there an you could have your picture taken with them. The man asked of I would like to and I said no. He said it was okay they don't bite and I don't have to touch them if I was scared. So i told him that wasn't it and my dog was at home being looked after by my mum for a few days and I feel like I'm cheating on him. You should have seen the look on his face!!! Kinda like oh a crazy dog lady wtf. Priceless.......... :)
  17. I don't think I will see him again soon I walked zorro at lunch time while the rain was staying away I normally walk him later. And if I did see him I don't think I would start asking him to much as he obviously has enough trouble with things with out me confusing him more. I would just say hallo to him and his old kelpie :)
  18. LOL tell them to google God knows what'll come up if they go home and google 'troll retriever' Hummm I wonder.... Just googled you would never guess? There is a dog called the nova scotia duck tolling retriever lol

  21. Just told OH apprently the guy is losing it a bit. OH fixes his computers and apprently he forgets he called OH to fix when he had already been there and fixed and will tell him not to bother coming as the computer is working again LOL!!! Poor guy at least he has his dog as a companion. At least it all makes sence now I was worried
  22. He was old ,I thought maybe he didn't have his glass or somthing I did feel bad laughing so hard but really I think anyone would with that comparison.
  23. Yes you heard I have been tricked, we went for a walk today when it wasn't raining and a man walking his kelpie told me that pit bulls where a danger to our community. I quickly corrected him saying no the only danger to community is the people and the stupid owners. He the. Said said " I thought pit bulls where banned how did you get yours" that is when I burst out laughing I was wondering why he stopped to talk to me about that? Omg you should have seen his face when I stopped laughing and told him zorro was a cocker spaniel. Omg I have never laughed so much in my life!!!!!! The deadly pitbull
