  1. I drive a Honda Odyssey. He normally is in the front seat in a car harness only because the seats are leather, even though they are covered they have side rests so I can keep an eye on him in the front. The day we went to the breeders (and when we go camping) he was in the boot part, I fold down the back seat so he has more room and he is harnessed in also. I'm on a weeks holiday now so we will be going for daily drives to school and I'm going to take him to the beach also.. I agree I need to give him more access to car rides.. Well there's your first thing to work on. Going in the car needs to be old hat to the pup. With my drooly vomity babies, it was mileage as much as anything that got them over it. I think there's also an anxiety component in a lot of dog's car sickness. What sort of car have you got and where does your pup travel in the car?
  2. I would of given the JR a boot, some people amaze me.. I would be horrified if my dog did that to anyone, well actually he wouldn't get the chance, control control control why is that so hard..
  3. I was thinking the same thing Christina sounds a bit odd must be a reason they are so determine and to just be trying to let them out very odd.. I second the camera even if you can pretend your not home and use a hand held one.. If they have a problem with you and your dogs why can't the talk to you or leave a note, weird.. but then some people are weird lol..
  4. That's good to know .. Ginger tablets it is and I'll make a chiropractic apt.. I also used to spew my guts up on trips to the coast every year for Xmas blah yuck. I also grew out of it so fingers crossed he does, we plan to do lots of camping in the near future :-)
  5. We don't go in the car that much mainly because I work and weekends we do things around the house in the yard.. He first vomited on the way back from his breeders after his puppy clip then yesterday when i picked the Kids up.. I searched dog sickness and the signs are drooling, yawning and uneasyness well that's what he has always displayed in the car pretty much from once we drive out the driveway, der I should have thought more of this behaviour from the start.. Anyway I'll try the tablets and get some ginger crystals to keep in the car. The one I found from the US looks good, it is expensive and not sure if it can be brought in anyway it is called easy travel solutionfrom petalive ( sorry can't put a link up from my tablet) Persephone I doubt if I gave him to much it would matter hey since it is ginger but I will ring anyway thank you :-)
  6. Hi guys, my little man gets car sick and we are going camping for Easter a 2 hr drive :-( so I need to get something to try before we go.. Does anyone have any recommendations, I would rather a homeopathic one.. The only one that comes up in a search is located in the US..
  7. No probs here, what a shame I love seeing dogs eat bones :-)
  8. Than you coogie, I did a search but could only get mobile ones..
  9. Hi guys, I am after a holistic vet but so far have been unable to find one.. Does anyone from QLD use one or could recommend one.. Thank you in advance
  10. I buy leading raw guide dog patties and this time had to get Dr B's.. unfortunately it was quite rich so Rogue got an upset tummy although it did smell and look good..
  11. Thanks sheena, I was hoping you would say no paralysis ticks around during Easter lol.. I have tick protection but I will be vigil.. We can't wait to go camping it's out Rathdowney/ white swamps way, 2 hrs from brissy in that direction anyway lol..
  12. This worries me as we are going camping at easter but the campsite say more bush ticks but not bad. I can't find any info on paralysis ticks where we are going.. So bush ticks I know I still have to check him and gosh I will every second lol but do they make them sick? or is it only the paralysis ones..
  13. I see so many off lead dogs around our area and I would say most if not all have no recall silly owners wanting their dog to be free..( fine if you have 100% control) Next doors dog was attacked the other day by 2 off lead dogs although in this situation he got the better, but the owner still walks his dogs off lead.. I will add this terrifies me as I was attacked as a young child and tense up when this breed is around me especially.. I walked Rogue the other day on my own and I was petrified, I hate feeling vulnerable and boy did I ever.. We had a few dogs but saw none outside the yard.. I read the artical thanks for posting it and the riding crop sounds like a good idea thanks for the suggestion not sure on the pepper spray, I would prob get it in my eyes LOL
  14. I wanted to crate train as we are intending to go camping a lot with him and also for agility so he is happy to be in a safe place ie the crate.. Rogue is in his run during the day he now holds on till we get home at 3.30. When he was little in his run I had a cat litter tray with sand in it.. His toilet spot outside has the same surface but he would only occasionally use it prefering to wee on the deck.. No big deal and he would do his poos outside so that was fab.. I like you worry if I'm doing ok bit we got a trainer which has been gold :-) I ring him when I have a concern and he has been very direct with me which I like :-).. Good luck it is early days i'm sure you will do fine..and I'm happy rogue is content and really if he doesn't sleep on his bed then it's only me that is making it a big deal lol I just want him to be comfy and happy .. I think we read to much, I have so many puppy books and it does get confusing, you want to do it right but I think in hindsight following my instincts would have been better :-)
  15. Hey MissB my little man did this for a couple of weeks then he got back on track.. I feed raw, I was thinking maybe it tied in with his injection but who knows.. My man is eating like a trooper now at 17 weeks maybe it is just a bump in the road, I kept a watch on his weight which even though he was only have half a meal a day he was gaining.. Just don't get in the trap of leaving his food down for ages hoping he will eat it, I leave Rogues food down for 15 mins then take it away, this is hard when they are being fussy but if you don't you will set yourself up with a fussy long term eater.. I think I offered more food during the day but he wouldn't touch it and I gave him frozen kongs as well with sardines and Greek yoghurt sometimes I would come home to it touched which was also frustrating.. You can lead a horse to water but :-) Don't get down about it he will eat when he is hungry :-) I am sure more experienced People will have more help :-)
  16. Hi miniizzy, we have rogue who is now a 17 week old Airedale terrier. Rogue sleeps in his crate at night but is in a run during the day. When we brought him home we made a run on our deck and it was big enough for his crate as well. I would feed him in the crate but when we were not home he would sleep on the deck not inside the crate. That's just where he would sleep.. He also started to wee in the crate so ( we have a trainer now also) the trainer said to not have the crate in his run so now we have moved the run to under our steps and he has a raised bed and his water bowl. I think he sleeps squished up under the steps lol not on his bed .. The crate now is still on the deck and he sleeps in that at night. I initially fed him in the crate closing the door until just before he finished eating.I would give him a bone in it and leave the door shut longer and longer. Then we shut it at night and he carried on but not as bad as i thought. We gave him his water after tea then took it away and made sure he toileted before bed, then he wasn't needing to toilet all night lol. He now goes to bed 8.30 and sleeps through till 5.30/6am .. Crate training clicked for me when we got a trainer as I was babying him and letting him fool me. I was sleeping in the lounge and taking him to the toilet every 2 hrs " Stupid Me! He loves his run , happily goes in even when we are home' his crate he tolerates it lol but he sleeps all night so he must be comfortable in it.. I think your pup maybe young to be in a kennel they do love being with the family.. Anyway good luck it is hard work but if you make it through these early days it does get better :-)
  17. I try to be confident and forward but so far been shot down in flames by the vet.. I know how you feel it's hard when you don't know enough to be firm lol .. I hope the slides come back OK..
  18. Rogues nails are black also.. The vet did his first snip he is going to his breeder for his puppy strip on sat so I am going to get her to show me and i will have a go, but that does scare me..
  19. Tilly is this produce store the pet store like pet barn ( I can't remember the name) across the road a bit from the shopping centre..
  20. I am interested in what reasons the vet gives for being so keen? What is the real advantage to this yearly injection besides convenience? Mine was keen also but I think it was more convenience and maybe if it is more expensive they get more in the end.. Although mine said it was a cheaper option.. Who knows I am disappointed in the 2 vets I have been to thus far.. I didn't think finding a vet I trust and doesn't come across wanting me to keep putting my hand in my pocket would be so hard... I feel like I have to have a degree and worldly product knowledge of everything vet related. lol..
  21. Like I said in my earlier posts it boils down to the parents and how some people choose to raise their children.. No boundaries, very little discipline, they want to be their child's " friend". In some ways it is a shame we have moved so far away from how we were raised ( we as in 40 plus) now parents are either scared to be firm or have no clue how because of busy work life, no support or simply no energy... Parenting is hard work, being a good parent/role model is even harder.. Dxenion: after working in child care for many years and having my own children, now when coming into contact with other peoples children I find most of what you mentioned annoying( vomit I cannot stomomach) I enjoy well mannered children :-)
  22. Hey Paula89 I think the comment re your child having boundaries was not meant to be a personal one re parenting. You said in your original post that you were not sure what to do if pup does a motion inside re taking baby downstairs or what..Having a seperate area for baby to go when you can't watch 24\7 if pup is inside would be what I would do also, not only for toilet accidents but puppies have sharp teeth :-) Ha reminds me when the twins were babies we had a gunea pig and one of mine stuck her finger in the wee and straight in the mouth they are so quick :-) It is great to read that your pup has not had a motion accident inside, we have been lucky also that Rogue actually hasn't had an accident at all inside but I am very happy about poos :-) Sounds like things are coming along well for you all..
