  1. It does make you wonder, doesn't it!
  2. How would you know they are infected? I was thinking a chiro visit just to see if that helped, but they have only been leaking since they were expressed last time so I'm wondering if something else is going on in there. I had to leave the room when they were done, so I left OH in there alone with her (the smell makes me puke, I have a really twitchy gag reflex  ) but she didn't say anything unusual. Max has two scoots, one when she's scratching her fanny, and one when she's butt scratching. I can tell them apart because she air licks when she butt scratches (and also does when you give her butt or tail scratches, it's like her tongue and butt are connected lol)
  3. And when asked, no one can ever explain it - not even the loudest supporters!
  4. How often is normal though? She does it several times a night while she's chilling out on the lounge. We had to get them expressed the first time because she was scooting constantly, same for the second time and that's when the vet said they were unusually "deep set" and that's possibly why they weren't being cleared out properly when she poops. Wouldn't pumpkin or psyllium just make her poops softer and bulkier, but not firmer to actually help the anal glands?
  5. The ad says "that's why my parents bought him for my siblings and myself" so the ad was created by a kid. On one hand I hope the parents knew about it, but on the other hand I hope they didn't know about it and put a stop to it as soon as they found out
  6. Oi I bought the t-shirt  you can't blame a gal for having good intentions. Admittedly I've only had one person ask wtf it was but that's ok. I really don't wear it much because it shows off my muffin tops and currently I'm not wanting FB warriors speaking for me. I'd still really like to know what the actual law is, because there is nothing on the website - even "about oscars law" doesn't say anything about oscars law
  7. I wasnt asking the same question. I knew I would somehow get blasted for posting this thread...I was asking some innocent questions out of curiousity and get patronised for it. I was actually curious about the answers to your question, but I guess people in here can't handle being questioned about why they do the things they do. You'd think they'd be happy to explain what exactly they have against Oscar's Law, seeing as they are accusing OL of not wanting to explain stuff. And as for OL, I have never seen or heard them say anything about reputable breeders. They want to abolish puppy farms, and I can't understand why people in here would have an issue with that. We actually know the people behind OL personally, because we have done several websites for them. They are very nice, caring people. Yes, Oscar was taken illegally, but so what? Did you actually see what state he was in when they took him? And how he was treated when they had to give him back to the puppy factory? And the conditions they found him in 18 months later when they finally got him out legally? I get that people in here are protective of breeding dogs, and of course there is nothing wrong with responsible breeding. But OL hasn't targeted responsible breeding as far I can see anywhere, and there is also nothing wrong with encouraging the general public to rescue a dog instead of buying one. There are certainly enough posts on this forum about how too many dogs are killed in pounds and shelters when they needn't be. I don't get the animosity towards someone who is passionate about dogs' rights and welfare. So if I'm passionate about something you own, it's okay for me to come and take it illegally? Because I'm passionate, and because I can look after it better than you can?
  8. There is a reason many refer to it as Oscar's Flaw.
  9. I wasnt asking the same question. I knew I would somehow get blasted for posting this thread...I was asking some innocent questions out of curiousity and get patronised for it. Call it preparation for asking Oscar's Law to actually explain what they do and what their "law" is
  10. Maybe you should ask the Oscar's Law people? They should be happy to tell you what they are about, surely? LOL. Yes just ask on facebook and see how fast your questions get deleted. I was being tongue in cheek ;)
  11. Maybe you should ask the Oscar's Law people? They should be happy to tell you what they are about, surely?
  12. But HOW are they doing these things? It's well and good to say they will do it, but how are they doing? Apart from the occasional protest, I've not seen them actually do anything? And why do they need donations to hold a protest?
  13. Because nowhere it is actually defined or explained, apart vague emotive "stop puppy farms" slogans.
  14. In your own words, can you please explain their agenda, and explain the law that is "Oscars Law"?
  15. I've asked a bunch of other pug people and they've never heard of it (most of them have never even needed to get their anal glands expressed, let alone have them randomly express themselves!) so I don't know if it's normal. I'm hoping not, as the smell seriously makes me feel like I'm going to puke
  16. One of my pugs has anal gland issues, they are "deep set" apparently, which contributes to them not expressing properly when pooping. I've had her at the vet a few times to have them expressed, but since the last time about 2.5 weeks ago her anal glands have been randomly "leaking" when she's relaxed. I know it's her anal glands because the smell is quite distinct - anyone who's ever smelt anal gland juice probably knows what I'm talking about I don't think it's normal to randomly express or leak, but at the same time as least they aren't full and causing her to be uncomfortable (just causing me to gag and leave the room often). She's on a raw diet of chicken carcass at night, brekkie is a raw mix I make up of beef, some veggies and yoghurt with chicken necks. Any ideas on what I can do to help her? Or at least to stop them randomly leaking and stinking out the house?
  17. "We are sharing a story, told to us, by someone close to Charlie. I believe them more than RSPCA." That is their "proof" (from )
  18. I'm surely poorly bred ones are more prone to health issues, like poorly bred any breeds (especially brachy breeds). But global statements like all BB's have a lot of health issues isn't necessarily correct. Of course working in a vet clinic you see the dogs with health problems - I know I don't take my dogs to the vet when they are healthy and I doubt many other people do either, so your view might be a bit skewed :)
  19. Scary these days that those who prefer to use facts rather than leap to conclusions based on mere rumours are the ones that get accused of things. Shouldn't it be the other way around? People should be more suspicious of things they they "hear from someone" or "see on facebook". Asking for facts or proof doesn't mean someone is affiliated with, or even supports the organisation, it's common sense (or as it's known these days - "EXTREMELY RARE sense")
  20. It's all just chinese whispers. They heard it from someone who "knows" *eye roll*
  21. A woman on the facebook page is claiming to have been with him half an hour before he was put to sleep. "I witnessed this photo being taken. This is at rspca burwood. I knew this dog well. He was healthy. He did not die of parvo. He did not have behavioural issues. He was not aggressive. He was a sweet, gentle boy who should not have been killed." I'm guessing she knows the creator/s of the page or was a 'liker' of the page which was already against RSPCA and she gave them this as another story to use. Nothing to say he is an RSPCA dog or the 'face' of MPW but his picture was definitely used for RSPCA MPW advertising. Now apparently RSPCA Vic have come back with details on the dog.. "we had thought from the limited information provided that Charlie was from NSW but we apologise if that is not the case. The information states that Charlie failed his temperament test in 2010 so that would mean he was still in quarantine and we never take pictures and use them publicly unless that pooch has already been adopted or is awaiting adoption. In both cases he would have already passed his health and temperament test." He wasn't used by the RSPCA for advertising. If a camera came and put a dog's picture in a paper, like they often do for charity events, it's different than the charity intentionally pimping out that dog as "the face of the event". It was one article in a local paper. I've had my photo in the local paper, hardly makes me the face of the event! Interesting about how the dog wouldn't have been out of quarantine if he hadn't passed health and temp test. Does anyone know the truth in that?
  22. Why? We get Media Monitor stuff at work, you can subscribe and they send you stuff specifically related to your company or industry. It just means someone in the industry probably sent them the article.
  23. Well, the paper clearly shows it's from 2010, so it wouldn't surprise me that it's the 2010 MPW. And I've been banned from commenting on the Justice4Max page because I questioned the validity and asked for facts. To me that says a lot...
  24. They have finally posted an article which shows the full picture. Apparently being the "Face of MPW" now means having an article in the Heidelberg Weekly  So it's legit then? Can you please post a link to the article. Sorry, can't link from my phone, but as said a billion times, it's on the Justice4Max FB page. And no I didn't say it was legit, I said he was in an article. There is nothing about him being "killed".
  25. They have finally posted an article which shows the full picture. Apparently being the "Face of MPW" now means having an article in the Heidelberg Weekly
