  1. I have been abused for not feeding my dog before People suck
  2. Why are they dangerous? Benson can't drag one, but not through lack of trying. Even if he could flip it though, he'd just tip the water out and it would run down the footpath and away into the gutter. The empty clamshell would then be nothing more than a toy he'd get bored with. But nothing dangerous there that I can see. If it flips over, and lands on the dog, they may not be able to get out from under it, in the heat, not a risk i would be taking, bit different with a bigger dog, but still not one i would take.
  3. I wont use clamshells, not when i am not around - my bitch can drag and flip a full one, too dangerous for her to have when un supervised. I have some water buckets that clip onto the gate to their runs - i put it up high, so she can only just reach with her head - she cant get in there to dig
  4. 8 months of it - every night without fail. My vets did everything but cut him open. The option was there, but i went to a natural vet who after talking to me for an hour, gave me some drops, she some how worked out he was stressed, and gave me things to fix it - No idea if it was all real, but it worked. Good luck
  5. if my dogs cry to go out, even if they dont want to goto the loo, they still go out, i dont lock them inside all day, they are free to come in and out as they wawnt
  6. Crate train, when you cant watch the pup, put it in a crate. my dogs both bark/cry to go out - when i got them i crate trained, when they were in there, if they barked or cried, i would pick them up, and take them outside, wouldnot play, nothing. Gave them 10 mins, and back in - i did this for weeks, all hours of the night with my Bull Terrier. Hard work, but now they know that if they cry or bark, they get taken outside - At night if i am asleep they will bark at the back door, if i dont hear them they come and poke me with their noses My dog has never had an accident inside, he is now 5 (he has gone to the loo inside once, but he was VERY sick and not his fault), my staffy is a different story
  7. Got the first assessment back before i did my first block trainig - had to redo a part of it, and have yet to find out if i passed that or not Got assessment 3 yesterday, and emailed them asking about assessment 2, and got that back this morning.
  8. Hey, can i ask if anyone has found somewhere dog friendly to stay? We have 3 people, 3 - 4 dogs in a trailer, and cant find anywhere
  9. either, i used both, i now rather crates, but cant fit two in my car, so usually use harnesses.
  10. He is actually giving me that look because he wanted to go inside, and i wouldnt let him I have many others with him looking happy, but they are not on my computer Do you actually think the dogs know they have been coloured? At LOVED the extra attention he got when out walking, he got more when he was pink Cant wait to do something christmassy on him! And, my dogs have no problems with their skin
  11. Thanks guys. We do grooming at work, but i was thinking i dont have his vacc certs, so i cant take him in - then realised i am in contact with the vets, so I can easily get them Will wait to talk to the owner tomorrow and see what she wants - I am wondering if i am better to wait till the end of next week, after he has been back at the vets before doing anything, no point getting him all nice and tidy, only to have him go back in again and end up the same. He is so skinny I dont really want to get him clipped as he has NO meat on him at all ETA : Sorry, i did post in the first post - i have rung the owners and cant get onto them - they wont call me back till tomorrow night now, just wondering if there is something i could do tomorrow
  12. Hi all, I am looking after a Standard Poodle at the moment. He has been very sick and spent a week in the vets (he was sick before i started to look after him, i was on strict instructions to take him to the vet if he missed even one meal) Anyways, they bathed him before he came home. No idea what they have done to him, but he is now FULL of matts I gave him a huge brush (coat king) this afternoon, most of his back is now fine, he has some clumps around his side and front legs he wont let me touch - they are around the edge where he was clipped for tests and is a bit sore there. He also has some huge ones around his ears. I am looking after him for another 3 weeks, and in that time he may need to go back to the vets for a few days (booked in for the 2nd for a day and maybe over night stay) Should i attempt to cut them out myself, or am i better off to wait and tell the vet what has happened and get them to fix it? I dont 'do' grooming, but am worried that if the vets do it, they will just clip him right back, the owners are over seas and i have left them a message, but i prob wont hear back till tomorrow night. Thanks all.
  13. For my dogs, i put peanut butter on it - but mine are such pigs for food, if they think one is getting something, they will eat anything given to them! I went to sedate one dog, dropped the tablet and the other dived in and ate it Boring night with 2 dogs knocked out I am pet sitting a standard poodle at the moment, he is on tablets 2 times a day, i just open his mouth and pop them in, no problems at all. Can you crush them up and put in his food?
  14. the Springer, Steves dog? He was one of the ones we got to handle
  15. Ring the vets, if something serious happens dont bother posting on here, get onto your vet first
  16. I tried to give her a comb over, but didnt work. All her back is done, and still abit on her legs to do (only cause we ran out of time) but the head is the part we are having trouble with. Poor girl She will be all better tomorrow
  17. She will be finished tomorrow One of the girls at work clipped her back and ruined her coat, we are hoping now we did this, it will help it go back to normal!
  18. Jen - using dogs other than your own is an advantage and something IMO to make the most of. You can always take what you've learnt and apply it to your own dog any time. Grabbing the opportunity to gain experience with different dogs is invaluable. Oh yeah I completely agree it was really awesome ;) Got a springer spaniel, golden retriever, cavalier. All different training levels. I just felt bad about my dog sitting in a crate for most of the day because we where told to bring them. did you get joe??
  19. Thanks for the tip - We rung the lady who showed us yesterday, and she is coming in on Tuesday to help us finish her.
  20. Ok, sort coat no problem, just rub it in and make sure it is even, you are meant to put foil over it (i think?? I am sure i read it, was a while ago now!) but i just let it sit there for a while, than washed it off. Paw Prints Step One: Get a few printouts of paw prints Step two: Laminate (sp??) paper Step 3: Stanley Knife and cut out paw prints Better to have a few, as it is a pain to was between each colour Step 4: Place stencil on dog, get a paint brush and paint away. Step 5: Wash dog The paw prints did smudge a bit we did it in a very rush job, but the bones looked really good. ETA: We did the same with the logo, that was the hardest part of that, we had to make a few stencils and it was hard work!! Thank god she is such a good dog!
  21. Can you post a photo? To show stripped and unstripped? I'm still bamboozooled! Will try to remember tomorrow to get a photo for you
  22. That's the only reason I would agree with as well, otherwise it says more about the owner than the dog - you may as well go play with dress-up dolls. And i think its a bit different to colour a dog, than to dress a baby up in clothes that turn men on.
