  1. Got my boy home! My breeder has given me a desexing voucher which expires when he turns six months. So I'll get it done as close to that as possible.
  2. He's pretty much slept in his crate since we got back from my haircut 90 mins ago. I was expecting getting him to go in his crate to be hard. But it was the first thing he went for in his pen so I threw some treats in. Now I can't get him out glad he feels comfortable in there though.
  3. Oh my lord I am in love... He's being so good. Currently chilling in his crate (we threw some treats in and have been praising him while he's in there). He's peed on the floor once - my partner was looking at him and said I think he's peeing and didn't pick him up straight away and put him on his pad. Hopefully we can get him going on the pad... House smells like vinegar again! So happy! He came with me to my hairdresser and slept and chilled in the courtyard. He's so relaxed! Touch wood he stays a good boy...!
  4. Oh God so this is was it felt like when I was a kid at Christmas. 3:16am and too excited to sleep. 5 hours and 44 minutes...! Must... Sleep...
  5. Just went and got my money from the bank to pay tomorrow morning. 18 hours to go!
  6. I would try to get him used to being alone (for short periods of time) before you go back to work. This is a great video for it: http://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=plpp&v=LGxhcb-itO4 At the 8:30 mark she also shows you how to condition the pup to get used to you leaving (opening the door, etc). (She has great videos in general, you can find the full list here: http://www.kikopup.com/Dogmantics/Free_Video_List.html ) Thanks! Yep - we will smother him tomorrow of course! But Sunday / Monday I will let him spend some time alone in his pen (at first with me in view) and also completely alone. Tuesday my friend is staying at our house with him so she will follow the same rules. Then Wed/Thu/Fri my partner is working from home but might go into the office for a couple of hours. Then another weekend where I can control things again! I'm going to be a bit of a control freak... I already get ANNOYED when other people try to tell me how to raise my puppy - I feel like I know it all after reading these forums for the past few months! I said to someone yesterday "I wouldn't tell you how to raise your daughter" I hope it didn't come off that way! I wouldn't try to tell someone how to raise their pup, and I also get really annoyed when people assume I haven't done any research. I just thought that video list was a good resource to have :-) No no! I meant random people who don't even have / have never had dogs. Especially people who've never raised puppies. I'm like erm... Not exactly qualified to give advice now are we... :) Those videos are great - I like getting lots of ideas and diff perspectives

  8. Yeah I'm definitely crate training but then my partner and I work full time so he has to get used to spending time on his own (of course I will try drop in each day to check on him). I won't crate him during the day , but his crate will be open for him to use in his pen/room. He will sleep in his crate next to my bed but of course can come up for cuddles before and after sleep time! I just need to try to avoid separation issues somehow and am hoping crate training will help...! I figure he will know its a safe place he can go any time.
  9. Scrap that - on the Pet Loo website they're $220 (63cm model) and $250 (83cm model).
  10. I've already spent waaaaay too much money! We might look at The Pet Loo in a few months - our breeder said they're kind of a waste of money initially cos Frenchie pups have small legs and don't like getting up on The Pet Loo. They're pretty pricey... Might sign up my partner to Pet Barn's loyalty program to get the 20% voucher. The normal size is $299 and the mini is $279. Not sure what size would be best for a Frenchie! 20% off makes a good difference I guess ($239/$223) but still pricey...
  11. So... Tank is going to be an apartment dog. He will have puppy pads in his room for when we're not there during the day. For toilet training while we are home and while we're crate training, should we take him to the pads or should we take him downstairs and outside to the footpath ( ). We are on the second floor, so not a big deal. I assume if I grab him while he's peeing he will stop and I can run down outside. Or should we just stick with inside training so as not to confuse or overwhelm him?
  12. OMFG ONE MORE SLEEP Delirious with excitement here...
  13. Nope... I haven't picked a vet yet. I have been recommended by a Frenchie owner Vet HQ in Double Bay but that will cost Double Bay dollars... Also another Frenchie owner goes to Darlo Vet on Crown St. I might call then today/tomorrow. I don't really know what to say/do though aside from- "Hi. I'm getting a puppy on Saturday. What do I do besides bring him in in three weeks for his vaccination?" lol true true... not much you can do now other than go in and have a chat to them if they're not busy (that might be rare!) Just wanted to say I have a colleague who uses rose bay and says they're excellent. I used to live on crown st but haven't been to darlo vet, sorry. I did go to the one on cleveland st (at the end of crown) once, they were fine but we moved from the area without needing to visit again so don't really have an appraisal. Okay thanks - I might look into Rose Bay one. I guess a vaccination is a good way to suss out if I have a good feel for the vet - it isn't super serious (touch wood things stay that way!)
  14. I just called Darlo Vet. I booked Tank in for his 12 week vac (which he'll get at 11 weeks and 5 days). She said that he shouldn't really need to come in before then unless I think something isn't right. :)
  15. My friend's have a Frenchie who is two years old and fully vaccinated. Will it be okay for me to take my boy around to their apartment for a Frenchie play date or would you wait until after the 12 week vaccination before he meets other older dogs?

  17. I really don't know how people raise puppies without the advice and opportunity to ask questions on this forum!
  18. He had his first vac yesterday which I'm guessing was a C3? I'm not sure though but will confirm on Saturday when I pick him up. And definitely won't be putting him down anywhere until after his 12 week vac. He has one outing planned for Saturday - probably go and watch my brother play rugby at the Victoria Barracks and then he might come with me when I get a haircut. Monday I have off but will take him to visit my work. Exciting!
  19. Getting the house ready is a mission...! Tonight, tomorrow and Friday night left to vacuum, do washing and get organised!
