  1. I tried calling rspca with not a lot of luck

Called, finally got through. They said they do not know his history and that he was fine when walking past a cat and didn't react when cat hissed at him. Then I started to ask more questions and was cut off somehow and they haven't answered when I have tried calling back

This house is so small that I could not separate him from the cats at all, there just aren't enough rooms here.

I might go down tomorrow (working today unfortunately) and meet him.

GB does he still have it in him to chase the cats?

they are always super busy when they open. I think his chasing days are well over but he does have a nice set of teeth for his age, so of course the safety of your puddies needs to be paramount. :)

  2. I just need to make sure any dog we take is good with cats. I work from home so they are all indoors together most of the time and when I am not home, they all tend to stay indoors.

I won't ever take on a new one if it could possibly endanger the existing ones.

I will call them tomoz and see if they will agree to trialling him. My two boys are fine with any other dogs, so he only needs to pass the cat test, and be OK seeing horses through a fence :)

Let us know how you go. As long as he is definately cat safe, I think you would love him. :)

  3. is he any good with cats or small dogs?

I dont have much info atm on his background, but he should be too rickety to cause much trouble. His listing says ok with cats and dogs

This is his adoptapet write up:

Dog Shoesmith is an elderly gentleman. He would love you to come and spend some time with him and then adopt him. He is very easy going , loves short walks, loves his dinner and loves a nice pat. He needs a lovely warm heater to be able to stretch out in front of on these cold nights. He is also housetrained. If you think you could find a place in your home for Dogshoesmith please come and meet him.

OK with cats? Is that the green lisiting and how is that tested?

He could possibly live out his days here. No heater, we have a wood fire

Els has always wanted a greyhound and we have soft spot for the oldies

I dont know about his history unfortunately I can certainly call tomorrow, he may have lived with cats before as he is housetrained. The shelter would only take into consideration past history and do a walk up to the cattery. He is a lovely old guy WP, poor babe was ready for a laydown after his short walk to do the pic. I imagine this winter will be his last :(

  5. I met this lovely old gentleman today with the unlikely name of Dog Shoesmith at Somersby RSPCA.

While he isnt in danger of PTS this poor old dear needs to be out of the shelter ASAP!! He is bewildered and sad, the shelter is no place for such a rickety old man.

He needs a warm cosy place to rest his bones, and while he has lots of blankets and a coat the shelter is far too cold for this old man.

I can help with transport if needed within an hour of the central coast. This boys adoption fee is a very negotiable $100.

  6. Gosford Dog Paws is in desperate need to find this guy a rescue group to go to. Lance is a Great Dane x Bull Arab, he is 18months-2 years old. He has already been desexed, vaccinated. microchipped etc. Lance has under gone significant training for the past 3 months he has been here and he has made such an improvement. We can no longer go any further with his training. Lance sits on command, lays and rolls and walks well on a lead. Lance is great with other dogs, he loves to play and tackle and chase. Lance is wary of men, this is his last issue that he needs to overcome. Unfortunately we have no men here to help Lance with. We believe he has been in a home where he was neglected and had a very dominate male in the home. Lance needs to go to a rescue or foster carer where he can get used to men. We are in absolute desperate need of this! We cannot adopt him until his fear is conquered and we cannot simply do this for him. PLEASE any help will be immensely appreciated! We need this and Lance especially needs this. 4304 4350

  7. Legal support officer, anyway.

Wonder how her employers would feel about that email.

I'd report that. I personally wouldn't want someone like that working in the legal field and representing my generation. Especially bad taste considering one of their much loved volunteers has just passed away in tragic circumstances. BAD taste :mad

unfortunately that fundraising opportunity isnt being let slide either. Surely there is a time to stop rattling the tin.

  8. Its nice to see RSPCA working with rescue and acknowledging the benefits that it can bring. Great work as usual Iggy Rescue

Like many of our residents, Cyclone was surrendered to us as his previous owners were moving and due to unforeseen circumstances could not take him with them. All his notes from his previous owners stated that he was a well balanced dog and other than not liking his nails clipped - he was generally a happy-chappy. After a number of days at the Yagoona shelter it was clear that Cyclone was not coping with his new surrounds (which was to be expected for breeds such as Italian Greyhounds, they are quite a sensitive breed).

Cue Tara Deevy, Senior Manager of Animal Care Services (South) who sprung into action and contacted Iggy Rescue (Iggy is an affectionate term for Italian Greyhounds) a breed rescue group who were more than happy to take little Cyclone into their care. Iggy’s Rescue found a foster carer for Cyclone and we organised a premise inspection and drop off of Cyclone the very same day. Huzzah!

As you can see from the images, Iggy Rescue happily reports that Cyclone (now called Cosmo) settled in very quickly to his new foster carer’s home and is now patiently awaiting adoption. We can't thank enough the brilliant advice, support and kindness shown to Cosmo and ourselves by the amazing folks at Iggy Rescue. Thank you guys and good luck Cosmo :) http://www.iggyrescue.com.au/on-trial-in-their-new-homes.html
