So sorry to hear about your girl. Hopefully she can be managed with oral diuretics for the long term at home.

both shelters would accept them, just drop the coats into the shelter at either charmhaven or erina

Thanks for all the input. I am taking everything with a bit grain if salt as I don't know this person but have sent her the link for team dog. Thank you the owner sounds like she dearly loves her poochie but costs could run at $5000 + and will require specialist care.

I have been contacted by someone who is desperate to get help for their 2yo Pekingese who appears to have bulging spinal discs. according to the owner she is a pensioner who has leukemia and cannot pay for treatment. She is willing to surrender to a rescue who can offer treatment. Dog is currently on pain meds and unable to walk.

try asking Gail Hudson, she has a very good reputation locally. http://www.woofsandwags.com.au/index.html she isnt local to you but its worth a drive if you can end up avoiding 4 months of unneeded classes.

Just read about this online. They will be leasing the Katoomba facility might be an opportunity for a rescue/boarding business similar to Londonderry.

Katoomba RSPCA to closeBy Jennie Curtin
May 28, 2014, midnight
Katoomba’s animal shelter and pound will be closed.
The RSPCA told staff last week they had just six months of work before the doors were permanently shut.
Eight staff will be made redundant unless they can find positions within the organisation at other shelters.
Staff were shocked at the news, which came out of the blue.
The CEO of RSPCA NSW, Steve Coleman, said he had the “unfortunate job of advising the staff and volunteers last Wednesday that it was identified as one of our operations that is to be redundant”.
He said financial circumstances meant the RSPCA could not continue to sustain the Mort Street facility.
“Ordinarily charities have been relatively well supported by the community in tough times but it is now starting to impact on charities like the RSPCA,” he said. “We just had to make some really tough decisions now... or face a black hole in two years’ time.”
The shelter takes in surrendered, abandoned, injured, neglected and stray animals. It has
found new homes for more than 1300 animals over the years and its office wall is lined with photos and letters from people grateful for the happiness their new pets have brought to their lives.
Mr Coleman said the Blue Mountains branch would continue with an online presence and he hoped animals could be fostered or adopted that way.
He said Katoomba was to be axed because of its “proximity” to other shelters, notably Yagoona and Orange, and because of an increase in vehicles driving through the Mountains which would be available to transport animals to new homes or other facilities.
"It is also a very active branch and we are very confident we can still fly the flag,” Mr Coleman said.
He hoped the shelter’s volunteers would continue to work with the RSPCA.
Mr Coleman said the RSPCA owned the premises and would be interested in leasing it out for other ventures.
The RSPCA is also closing its Dubbo facility and the animal adoptions component at Tweed Heads

the white stuff is probably bowel lining coming away. Never forget parvo faeces and your description sounds spot on. vet or likely dead pup tomorrow.

try asking Hunter animal rescue, if they cant help themselves they will be able to point you in the right direction.

I would want to know WHY it is unlikely to stick. I would want quotes of the current law as to why it won't stick!
It is bullshit, contact melza.
I agree, its absolute bull. These dogs have clearly done enough by their actions as proof. The rangers have to abide by the current legislation, they dont get to pussfoot around it to appease this individual owner. Like others have said I would be making a meeting with the Head Ranger and demanding action.

OMG you poor thing what a horrifying thing for you and your babes. Please tell me you got the owners details and they will be paying for this. Otherwise the financial blow is going to be so hard on top of the grief. I am at work at the moment and holding in the tears
please let me know which vet you are using and i would love to help a little.

Maybe too far for you, but for any other terrier lovers.....
Here is the gorgeous Racey approx 4yo male Foxie x
Racey came to us as a stray with no microchip and unfortunately his owners never came forward to reclaim him. Racey is a small-medium dog he weighs 11.8kg.
Racey gets along great with all dogs, and he can sit and shake on command. He will also dance on his two back legs for a treat, and he is an absolute pleasure to walk on a lead. Racey will also high five on command, will even high five with both hands :).
Racey doesn't get along with cats, so he needs a home that doesn't own any cats or pocket pets. He is a very inquisitive boy, and prefers not to be alone, so would most likely require an owner who doesn't work full time. Racey would probably suit a family that already has a dog, so that when he is left alone he has someone to play with. If he goes to a home with no other dogs, then we would prefer a home with no full time workers, so he can soak up lots of attention and play time.

I would love it if no showies need it. :)
