  1. If you're looking for a grain free food with NO potatoes/legumes, this is the only one i have been able to find in Aus https://www.healthyeverydaypets.com.au/
  2. Yes, I've given it to him here and there, but not on a regular basis, maybe i should add it for a few days in a row.. Excellent point! I'd say he would ingest bits of seawater when he grabs his ball from the water.
  3. No, I've never tried one meal. He is ravenous when we get back from our morning walk. Same thing when we get home from our evening walk. I'll keep plugging away until we get that perfect afternoon poop!
  4. Usual softer poop last night, and he just did his normall perfect poop this morning, so i think it was too much probiotics. I'll hold off on the probiotics for now, and if i do add them again, I'll sprinkle a tiny, tiny bit in and if it happens again i wont give him any more! Someone advised adding a teaspoon of whole oats to his breakfast that may help firm him up. His afternoon poops arent puddingy, they're just not solid and well formed like his morning ones are. His walks are the absolute highlight of his day! We go to the off lead beach for 2 hours in the morning, but he looks forward to his evening walk the most, as we meet the love of his life named Wanda, they play, smooch and chase balls on the oval for 90 or so minutes. If they're late, he just sits there staring at the car park waiting for her to arrive.
  5. Well, he had pudding poop last night and bloody diarrhea this morning. So obviously i started with too high a dose. If these probiotics dont help, i'll just take them myself.
  6. I just gave him his first dose, I can't wait to see if it makes a difference. His afternoon poops are always done while we are out on a walk, I know there's a word for exercise induced pooping which can sometimes cause them to pass soft stools, is it peritonitis??
  7. He gets fed twice a day, morning and evening. He gets a rmb every second day, usually Lamb ribs, I am trying to get him to eat chicken necks/wings but so far he has zero interest in raw chicken bones I also just bought an expensive pack of proudi premade raw beef patties (added ground bone), and he Reeeeefuses to touch it!!
  8. For some time now Nugget has a perfect morning poop, but the afternoon one is always soft and never well formed. I have tried cutting down his food as well as adding pumpkin to his meals, but it doesnt really make a difference. I have also rotated through different kibbles with no change either. So, this morning i went out and bought him some probiotic powder, but seeing as he is only 7.5kg i decided to go for the children's powder, it has no added flavours, colours etc. The one i chose is lifespace probiotic powder with 15 different strains, and is recommended for kids between 3-12 years. https://www.lifespaceprobiotics.com/product/probiotic-powder-children/?gclid=CjwKCAiA9K3gBRA4EiwACEhFe0jndVvXv62QfT2fW3CkKmo-l9VMS-8qabaIhAcJ6VcC_ZjAMA0J4RoC-dsQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds Would a regular probiotic powder for adults be ok, or would it be too much on his system?
  9. It's not going to hurt to try it. I haven't used it because i doubt my dog would eat anything with that powder added, and I'm not sure how much a (expensive) bottle of vitamin C would help.. I've always used 4cyte with good results in the past, and I'm using it now as a preventative with my 1 year old Jack Russell.
  10. Yep. The puppy Orijen has 16% carbs, and the original has 20%. I'm going to be feeding the puppy version, it is an ALS food, and i think the less carbs dogs get, the better.
  11. Good point @PANDI-GIRL . I would much prefer the protein my dog gets comes from meat than plant sources!
  12. I'm thinking of alternating between bags of grain free and grain inclusive kibble. If i could find a high protein/meat kibble that contains oats as it's only grain, then i would for sure feed that, but it seems there is no such thing.. Nugget only gets 1/2 a cup of dry food a day, the rest is fresh meat and rmb's. I've never fed any of my dogs exclusively on nothing but kibble. One of the grain foods I'm considering is earthborn holistic puppy vantage, but i dont like the protein of 28%, the fat is good at 20% though. The extra meat i add to his diet will bump up the protein anyway, so not such a huge deal.
  13. I like the meat content/sources (85% MEAT CONTENT) and the protein/fat content. I do have issues with the beans and lentils in it though... A 2kg bag will be $50, and the largest bag will be around $180 Here's the ingredients for the original: Deboned chicken, deboned turkey, atlantic flounder, whole eggs, whole atlantic mackerel, chicken liver, turkey liver, chicken heart, turkey heart, whole atlantic herring, dehydrated chicken, dehydrated turkey, dehydrated mackerel, dehydrated chicken liver, whole dehydrated egg, whole red lentils, whole pinto beans, whole green peas, chicken necks, chicken kidney, whole green lentils, whole navy beans, whole chickpeas, lentil fiber, chicken fat, natural chicken flavor, pollock oil, ground chicken bone, chicken cartilage, turkey cartilage, mixed tocopherols (preservative), whole pumpkin, whole butternut squash, freeze-dried chicken liver, dried kelp, zinc proteinate, kale, spinach, mustard greens, collard greens, turnip greens, whole carrots, whole apples, whole pears, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, thiamine mononitrate, D-calcium pantothenate, copper proteinate, chicory root, turmeric, sarsaparilla root, althea root, rosehips, juniper berries, dried lactobacillus acidophilus fermentation product, dried bifidobacterium animalis fermentation product, dried lactobacillus casei fermentation product. Ingredients for the Regional Red: Deboned beef, deboned wild boar, deboned goat, deboned lamb, lamb liver, beef liver, beef tripe, wild boar liver, deboned mutton, beef heart, whole atlantic mackerel, deboned pork, goat meal, beef meal, lamb meal, mackerel meal, whole red lentils, whole pinto beans, beef kidney, pork liver, herring meal, mutton meal, whole green peas, whole green lentils, whole navy beans, whole chickpeas, natural pork flavor, beef fat, lentil fiber, pork kidney, pollock oil, whole yellow peas, lamb tripe, wild boar heart, wild boar cartilage, beef cartilage, whole pumpkin, whole butternut squash, mixed tocopherols (preservative), dried kelp, zinc proteinate, kale, spinach, mustard greens, collard greens, turnip greens, whole carrots, whole apples, whole pears, freeze-dried beef liver, freeze-dried beef tripe, freeze-dried lamb liver, freeze-dried lamb tripe, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, chicory root, turmeric, sarsaparilla root, althea root, rosehips, juniper berries, dried lactobacillus acidophilus fermentation product, dried bifidobacterium animalis fermentation product, dried lactobacillus casei fermentation product. 38% protein 18/20% Fat
  14. Would any of you feed Orijen dog food if it became available here again? I don't want to say too much in case i jinx it, but keep your eyes peeled toward the end of January next year on Mypetwarehouse and Budgetpetproducts. Also, there will be no irradiation this time!
  15. Yep, I rotate between the Original and the small bites (different protein sources). It's one of the very few kibbles my dog has eaten plain, with no toppings. he loves it and does really well on it.
  16. I wouldnt be giving her anything that will boost the calcium (fortified rice milk) in her diet further than it already is. You have to be so careful in getting the calcium/phosphorous levels right in large breed pups, an overdose or imbalance of these can create bone/growth problems. Raw meaty bones are the best chews/teeth cleaners. I feed a mix of kibble/raw/cooked, pretty much a huge variety of different foods. The dry food i feed is stay loyal (small breed formula), they do a large breed puppy (are labs considered large or medium?), with calcium 1.1-1.3%, phosphorous 0.7-0.9% https://stayloyal.com.au/large-breed-puppy-grain-free-dog-food.html
  17. Also, Blackhawk has changed ownership and isn't as good as it used to be, so wouldn't be my first choice.
  18. I feed Stay Loyal Kibble, but mostly add fresh meat to it. https://stayloyal.com.au/ When feeding canned food, i use: Ivory coat Wellness 95% ziwiPeak
  19. Does anyone give this to their dogs? If so, do they eat it, is it palatable? What were your results? I've just ordered a bag. I chose the hip and joint version to use as a preventative measure and because it has better ingredients, beef liver etc which would be much tastier than their vegetarian formula. I've also hear it does wonders for their coats.
  20. Usually when i see a puppy coming, i redirect him or put him on a leash. Lately though, i have been giving him extra special, tasty treats whenever a puppy is in the vicinity. I want him to associate other pups with good things. Telling him off does absolutely nothing! So, i'm leaning more toward the positive training side.
  21. He's up and down @PANDI-GIRL . Some pups he's fine with, others he's still doing the bullyish behaviour. Ironically we were at the beach a couple of days ago, and there were 2, 8mth old Jack Russells there, which were Nuggets mini me's He displayed his aggression and the little Female gave it straight back to him! Thereafter he was a perfect a little angel, and played nicely lol Pretty much 100% of the time, the other dog rolls over on it's back which just makes Nugget worse. I wish they all had a go back at him, as this pulls him onto line quick smart! I have another theory why he is like this... Quite a few times when he was little, larger puppies jumped on, squished him and hurt him etc Just were far too rough with him. His behaviour could be linked to this??
  22. Oh Jeez, No i didn't see it Well that's bloody off putting! I'll Google it now.
  23. This is more of a curiosity question, as i don't feed my dog my cats food regularly, other than leftovers my dog gets, that my cat leaves in her bowl every now and then. The main reason i have read discouraging giving dogs cat food, is the too high protein and fat in cat food. However, both their foods have the same % of protein and fat, with the cats food have 150 more calories per kilogram. Are there any other reasons cat food is not good for dogs?
  24. Haha, No i was born in 1972 He had a nibble of the Pete Evans on the first day, and completely ignored it on the 2nd day. Stay Loyal is still number 1 in Nuggets book. Frontier Pets you say... I'm expecting a delivery of the chicken version today I think the bag my mum gave me was old and just not stored properly. I'll be giving it to him for dinner tonight, i'm interested to see how this one turns out.
  25. I had the same thing with my cat. She wouldn't eat the fish flavour and vomited up the chicken flavour a few times. But she's a sensitive sod, and i didn't transition her over slowly from her other food.
