  1. No worries - a good cause. If it can go ahead, would you email me [email protected] and I can then email you a picture of the items to put up and advise you of the individual value of each. And good for you Dyzney, for supporting as well. Not to mention all those who have already donated in their various ways (financially, physically etc). And of course all of us who donate emotionally as well, with thoughts of strength and recovery. They count as well, and do much good .
  2. As per other thread, lit candle and raised glass will be happening here at 9pm for Jed and her dogs - the ones who are still with us and also those who are sadly .
  3. Sway - are you able to run an auction? Pro-K9 can donate one of its special 6' leads and also one of its special 7m long-lines. Combined value would be $111.00 (including postage) but you can auction separately or together, whatever you think best? All proceeds to the MDBA Pacers "Jed" fund. More info on the leads and long-lines HERE . Also willing to donate for auction purposes, Pro-K9's favourite Food Treat pouch. Info on THIS page. Value is $43.00 (including postage)
  4. There'll be a candle and a raised glass at 9pm from here as well.
  5. I hope that Jed can somehow know that Magnus has been seen alive, or at least to make sure that she knows this. It might help her. Steve - I presume you have been able to let it be known to Jed that MDBA Pacers is looking after her animals? I don't know if Jed is in a conscious or unconscious state, but even getting a hospital staff member to pass this on to her - whisper in her ear, if necessary, I'm sure would be a huge comfort and help.
  6. There's a photo of an older Golden Cocker with a claim that it is Magnus. Then I read in a post that Magnus is a Black Cocker. I'm confused .
  7. We were all over-reacting - with good reason. But yes, Dyzney .... your response is exactly what I felt when I was able to confirm.
  8. Spoke with Steve. No change to Jed's condition that we would be aware of. Next 48 hours will be critical. But for the time being, as best we know it, Jed is still with us.
  9. Gulp. Sway? Please comment one way or the other. Your tears might be for the fact of this tragedy as we know it thus far. But we're all scared for worse.
  10. Me too. I would have thought that it would be payment enough and then some, to know that her dog has found a loving forever home. Shame on her for putting a $ value to her dog's life - it makes it sound as though she is completely unremorseful for not being able to meet her responsibilities this dog deserved. Hope she never owns a dog again in her lifetime. That's so shallow.
  11. Channel 9 Brisbane News Office are now aware that MDBA Pacers is caring for the animals and is involved in support for Jed. I hope THAT is ok, Steve .... I don't mean to veer away from the tragedy of what has occurred to Jed and her family, and I am here hoping to hear news of an improvement in her condition soon. But I think she would be pleased to know that credit might be given where it is due, and that is to the MDBA Pacers. Channel Nine News person seemed quite interested.
  12. The pup ("Oompah" would be a very appropriate name, LOL) has a pink nose. It must be a pitbull.
  13. I think I recall posting in your earlier thread about the possibility of it (now 'them') being interdigital cysts. I thought my boy might have had Furunculosis (in which case, whilst called interdigital "cysts" they are not 'true' "cysts"), but the opinion of a Vet and Naturopath suggests otherwise - their opinion being that it was another way of my boy expressing toxins that his liver was unable to cope with (instead of hives, which was another of his symptoms). Apart from the remedies/treatments of the Naturopath and Vet (holistic, chinese herbal) to help try to straighten out his digestive system and support liver function, I treated the cyst symptoms by : Bathing each foot in Calendula Tea or, if I didn't have as much time to organise that for the moment I wanted to treat them, I used an antibacterial wound spray. Rubbing in Aloe Vera Gel (liberally) once a day every day, or more often as deemed necessary. The main thing to guard against is infection. In my boy's case, the cysts did become quite large and some would bleed with the pressure of opposing toes, especially after he'd had a run. Consequently, when they were at their worst, I didn't take him out for walks or runs. (There were 2 x periods of about 4 days a piece where we didn't do anything, and only then went out because he so needed to get out.) As they began to at least look a little better, I took him out for on-lead walks, but avoided allowing him to tear around our local park, as this tended to prove a little too much and would make the cysts raw and painful. The cysts were in their multiples. One would appear and another would come up next or under it. Some cysts were small and didn't grow large before they disappeared. Others were large and whilst they improved in appearance (ie stopped looking angry/moist) they took a while to actually completely go away. In my boy's case I think it has been about 2 months since I first saw the cysts appear and they are only now almost gone. He developed them first in one foot, then another and before I knew it, they were in each foot.
  14. News (via "Off Topic") is that Jed's condition is listed as "critical".
  15. I too have enjoyed conversing with Jed, and reading her often informative posts. Tragedy like this is shocking and all the more so when you *know* the person. I must admit to a feeling of relief knowing that Jed got herself and children out and away from the fire, as much as I am sad for her dogs who didn't make it and the devestation of those losses that is going to add to Jed's grief. Condolence and healing wishes coming to you from here, Jed. MDBA - fantastic that you are onto this, I am certain that must be an enormous relief and help to Jed, both in the responsibility and emotional department. Well done and I will do what I can to assist from this end.
  16. That's all sounding good and headed in the right direction, but the part I've highlighted bothers me a bit. In the absence of Buddy feeling pain when you go to pick him up (it's not your fault, per se) then he should be allowing you to pick him up (whether he likes it or not) without moving to snap at you. Glad he didn't connect and that is indicative that he doesn't want to, because if he did want to, I expect you would have known about it. Beaut that there has been improvement and continue exhibiting leadership skills. Don't do anything you think might get you bitten, but do call someone in to help you in the event that Buddy does have goes at you when you're doing things he doesn't want to. Unless you're very certain that you can handle it all yourself without making things worse.
  17. Nylahbones aren't food - they don't get digested, to my knowledge?
  18. My understanding of them was that the dog will ingest little bits and pieces of the Nylahbone as it chews away on them and that apparently is supposed to be ok for them - that's what they say, I think. But if the dog bites bigger pieces off them, I've heard of problems occurring. Probably no different than a dog chewing and swallowing large' ish pieces of a ball, for instance. All fourth hand stories, so can't quote you from reliable sources. But if they are flavoured up, then to me it could encourage more than just chewing .... with some dogs.
  19. My highlights. Don't wish to rain on the parade, Mita, but do wish I could have your good fortune. My two dogs - same breed, different lines, both purebred - both with papers. And I've had countless (different) health issues with both of them. There will be many different stories - many more to support the purebred fraternity and many more to support the other. But, with the purebreeds and with purchasing through a breeder of good repute, you at least have a chance of knowing the parents, their parentage, and potentially having a base to return to for information and/or help.
  20. Your story with Charlie would make a good one for the media, I think. Not so much about Vet bills because I agree with the other poster that it shouldn't be thought that purchasing a purebreed is going to absolve one from needing a Vet at any time. But a story on not knowing parentage etc. etc. and that things aren't always roses, and so on.
  21. Excellent, Stormie and well done to your veterinary practice for getting up to speed . Are you able/allowed to give indication of price here? If not, would you mind PMing me please? I'm trying to get my local Vet to do this too - if I can get an idea of cost it would be helpful.
  22. I'm a worrier. Not sure I like the idea of something being 'flavoured' (by us, or made that way) yet unsafe for our dogs to ingest. Problem with these things is that if pieces are ingested, they aren't going to be consumed by the dog's intestinal enzymes so that they can more easily pass without issue.
  23. I go to Jacqueline at Natural Animal Solutions . She visits a couple of areas (or more). One of the places she practices from is at All Breeds Boarding Kennels 325 Westernport Highway, Lyndhurst (which is really handy because that's also my formal training grounds and also where I do B&T). I'm not sure where you are located, but if it is not around my way in the south eastern suburbs, then Jacqueline might have a different location where she can meet with you that might be more convenient. But don't quote me on that - just worth checking with her. I actually met Jacqueline at the All Breeds' Christmas party. My boy's issues haven't been easy to conquer and he continues to be a work in progress, but there has been excellent improvement and so far I've found Jacqueline to be quite on the mark with her suggestions, advice and treatments. If you have pet insurance, get a referral to her from your Vet. Depending on the terms of your insurance, you might find that you will be entitled to claim your consults with Natural Animal Solutions. I'm with PetPlan and they have confirmed to me that they do cover homeopathic consults with Vet referral. I just have to lodge my claim now. I didn't have the easiest run with PetPlan regards my initial Veterinary claims, but they did get sorted (via review) and I'm hoping that it won't be so difficult this time around.
