  1. Now, for the contents ...... dramatic music ....... Bottle on the left - green sand like stuff that doesnt dissolve and smells like rotting seaweed, and cant be used according to the instructions. Bottle on the right - white, slightly caustic smelling, dissolves and works as per instructions:
  2. OK. Have some pics now. First, the two bottles of Laser Lites No More stains that are in my posession. Same bottle, same label, same name, same instructions:
  3. I thought their name was Nagla something?? I cant remember the name or find them on a google search
  4. Hi Italmum, When I was rescuing and rehoming, I would often ask families with kids what their strategies were for managing kids and dogs. So perhaps you could pre-empt this sort of question by telling breeders how you plan to manage the dog/kid interaction. You have already got some things worked out - patio and laundry for down time for the pup. You could also purchase a crate to be in the lounge and teach the kids that they are not allowed to touch the puppy when he/she is in her crate. You'll need to talk about how you will supervise interaction between the dog and kids, and how you will organise time for just you and the dog for training etc. Good Luck. Gail
  5. Thanks for replies. I've decided to go to this show anyway. Just disappointed that, in the break up of breeds between the original and new judge, a breed that the new judge is unlikely to have seen much before was allocated to her. I can get this at all breeds shows LOL - don't want it at a specialty (and I've got the flu so am grumpy and less tolerant than usual)
  6. I've entered a show, and have just received my numbers. There was a big entry, so the judge for 9 breeds has been changed. There was no notification of this before entries closed to let people withdraw if they wanted to (I entered very early). If I ask for a refund of my entry fees, should I get one? Or will the club just say 'bad luck'? The show is a specialty, and the new (extra judge) is from a country that has hardly any of my breed, so I am very disappointed :D
  7. There are a lot of people in this world who will have numerous dogs, (especially in the US,) who can barely afford to feed themselves let alone their tribe, and live from day to day. Personally, I think the vet is somewhat to blame for this situation. If these people went to him and asked that the dog be put down, because of this temperament, even given their financial circumstances, he should have obliged. I agree, the parents should have been more vigilant in their responsibilities to their toddler, and now she has paid the price. As to the father chasing the dog out, and not tending the baby, he was most likely in shock/panic mode. All members of that family have now learnt a hard lesson in life which I wouldn't wish on anybody. Why? Vets are not responsible for every pet owners costs that they decide they don't want to pay. Most of the 180 pounds was probably the fee that the vet would have to pay for disposal of the body. Now if they had contacted the council and said their dog had bitten and they wanted it euthed for free, and the council had said 'no' that might be a different matter ...
  8. This was the first thing I did. They apparently dont give advice on using their products any more
  9. I want those shoes! They'd look fabo with the suit I purchased from Sway!! Sorry Ellz, they are loooooong gone now!! Does no-one else think they look like shoes that a character from a Brothers Grimm fairytale might wear? The whole big buckle thing? Anyhoo, I loved them at the time and did literally wear them till they fell to pieces Yes I did, but I didn't want to speak out against the popular opinion
  10. Congratulations! He looks lovely - so solidly standing for a baby!
  11. It smells like it has a bleaching agent in it (have you ever smelt the peroxide bleach mix at the hair dressers) Trust me, it took a few goes for me to work out that method! OK, the plot thickens . My 'No more stains' *doesn't* smell like it has a bleaching agent in it. I talked to an exhibitor friend about this, and she gave me her container of 'No More Stains' purchased a while ago. Hers is white powder that *does* smell like a bleaching agent, *does* dissolve in hot water etc. Mine is completely different - more like green, rocky, crushed seaweed, smells like a sewer, *doesn't* dissolve. YET THEY BOTH HAVE EXACTLY THE SAME INSTRUCTION LABEL ON THEM :D So methinks the product has been changed from caustic to an enzyme based, but the new instructions have been forgotten :D The white caustic powder works well with the instructions given. So .... who out of those who posted has the white caustic version, and who has the green seaweed version??
  12. RMC, what is the rescue group's policy on pre-existing conditions? You should check this out, as the rescue group may pay for the surgery, or might be able to put your dog through their vet and get a discount. Gail
  13. can youpost the recipe, and I will add it to the Health sticky post ;)
  14. You can also just use water if you dont want to add in a conditioner while you groom
  15. ALL PURPOSE CLEANER In a 1 litre spray bottle add the following 1/4 cup eucalyptus oil (make sure its the real thing) 1 cup white vinegar 20-30 cold pressed Lemon Essential oil (this is expensive but it adds a freshness and helps dispurse the urine smell). mix this together in the spray bottle, shake well and allow to set overnight. The next day top the bottle up with water and shake well to mix. Whenever your dogs wees (works with poo as well) soak up the excess moisture (or pick up the solids) spary with cleaner - let set for a minute and soak up with towel or paper towel till touch dry.
  16. Bummer. Watching Howie have a great time on the Sat, I'm not sure he cared though ;) . I am still going 'awwwww' at Magic and Howie's 'reunion'. It was the most affectionate Magic has been to another dog in such a short space of time. That evening at your place when Magic learned how to avoid the Whippet Shoulder Roll, lost half his headfall, and discovered that if he is on the sofa he is as tall as Howie, must be one of his bestest puppyhood memories :D You mean another male dog don't you? ;) Yeah, Howie isn't to every judge's taste but the dogs that went up were very very nice. You can't complain too much about losing to good dogs. The Whippety folk said he still looks like big gawky baby - he needs time to develop. He had his standard show weekend: * Make eyes at the ladees.. check * Play with puppies ... check * Have his own icecream and more than a bit of my show snacks.. check * Avoid Jas's Borzoi Paws of Death.. check * Scream like a girl when Mum shows other dogs... check * Get a heap of pats.. check * Roll around on the grass at the end of the show.. check * Pee on legs at inoppotune times.. twice * Drop shoulder on Havanese.. fail. Howie had his very own baby Ridgeback to play with.. not sure Zeus's owner will be thrilled with some of the games Howie taught him though It was Howie who had to seek refuge on the sofa to play with a baby Ridgeback! :D Tsk tsk - you are confusing sex with affection Next time I will make sure Magic stays still long enough to give Howie a fair go at the Whippet Shoulder Roll of Doom :D
  17. There was something on this just recently - I hadnt heard of the brand but a few people raved about it. Maybe do a search in the forum? (I dont remember the name sorry) Personally, I have Berli sports bras for agility and showing
  18. What an awful situation FD . I heartily agree with others that this problem has been dumped on you, when it is the owner/landlord and real estate who stuffed up and should be sorting this out. Firstly, does your lease say that you can have have the dogs with you? If so, I would be moving both dogs in with you, and informing the landlord in writing of this, and asking him to sort our *HIS* problems with the Body Corporate. It may also help to write to the BC and tell them that you have a lease saying you are allowed to have the dogs living in the unit, so the dogs will be living at the unit, and they can contact the owner/landlord over any issues. If the lease doesn't say you can have the dogs, I would write to the Body Corporate/Owner/Real estate and explain that as you were given verbal approval to have the dogs, you will be having them live with you until you are allowed to break the lease without penalty, and at that time you will look for alternate accommodation. In the letter to the owner/landlord, I would also state that you will be seeking compensation for moving costs. This is one of those situations where you are so clearly in the right, and it should be the other parties involved having to compromise and work around what has happened. I don't think you should have to hide your older dog nor have the younger one live elsewhere while this is sorted out (even if 'sorted out' means until you can break the lease without penalty and until you have been compensated for moving costs). I really really hope that you can post soon to say that both dogs are with you in the townhouse and will stay there until the situation is resolved
  19. If that is the case, then obedience classes may be just the thing for you as: 1. The trainers will see your dog doing the behaviour you want to avoid and can assess him 2. you will be able to practice around other dogs in a controlled environment, which may be easier than practicing out on walks 3. The more other dogs your dog sees, the less excited he will get by them 4. The more fun you have with him at training (games, treats etc) the more he will realise that YOU are more interesting than other dogs. I would enroll in group obedience ASAP, and explain your problem when you enrol and again to the trainer at your first session. DONT be embarassed! I spent ALL 8 weeks of puppy class in the CAR PARK with my pup, as she got too worked up and barked her head off if she was any closer to the dogs at the club. Each week we got a little closer to the class without her barking, and by the time we went to the next class she was in the ring with the other dogs
  20. Awwww how sweet that his tail was wagging madly while he was having a lovely dream :-). As others have said it is quite normal. A lot of boy dogs I know have a special 'friend' for special 'loving' time - a stuffed toy or cushion. If you train them that this is their one and only special friend, they can go to it when required, and avoid using things you'd rather not be humped

  22. I'm in - it was such a great location and event. But how do we know when next years shows will be?
  23. It didnt cover when she bent over Yes i do have a classic photo of that, but I don't think i should post it... lets just say it wasnt the most flattering outfit... *cough*skunkhair*cough*sheer seethrough tights*cough* (cept I dont know what 'skunkhair' means )
  24. Congrats Tibbiemaz71's son . I was watching his face when he was awarded class in group - it is so wonderful to see awe and joy on a childs face . I liked that the judge gave the junior handlers a good go - I think two of the three got classes in group! (the other was the crested in baby of group). Wasnt the boy with the Borzoi great - very serious but did a fantastic job. Apparently it was his first show!
