  1. ;) Congratulations t-time!!! Congratulations too to all the winners
  2. OOps just read this. Sort of - I was wondering if the judge was investigated as a result of the exhibitors comments which implied the result had already been worked out.
  3. Seriously, you are starting to appear a bit silly now. They are two completely different threads. Yogi's win - great, fantastic. I saw it on a news post and thought, "Nice to see a HV win", nope didn't post in the congrats thread... I also don't post on birthday threads, on 'what is my dog' thread and hmm...about 5 million other threads that are on DOL. The co-owner making a tool of himself and being reprimanded. Yep, it happens to lots of people and should happen more often too. He is being discussed simply because he's "high profile" for now. Nobody in this thread said a single thing about the dog or the breed, merely that he's a co-owner then suddenly you're in here telling people off because they didn't offer congratulations to Australian connections but they will have on opinion on something other than the dog's win?? Go back to the start and read your posts. You almost look a little unhinged telling people off about having an opinion that they are entitled to have. and no, it doesn't take away from Yogi's win. I'm another who thinks the dog is a very nice dog but if the owner did indeed do as the article says, he most certainly is a bit of a twit and people will naturally discuss it. Ashanali get in and give me a serve too Who did I tell off? Don't need to read my posts I know what I have said What did I say that has caught your interest? I'm unhinged...thanks..I didn't tell anyone off. He is not an owner or even a co-owner! I am not defending this man!!! (for the 100th time) Why do you all come on and say what a tool he is and then have a go at me? we have established that he did wrong, I just mentioned in passing there were not a lot of congrats.......no big deal, the point that captured the Vizsla people were the one or two posts where the Judge of BIS at Crufts 2010 integrity was bought into question which was very unfair on her and Yogi's win, nothing else matters Yogi won, he deserved his win Mr Armstrong did wrong he deserved his suspension I spoke up because a couple of people questioned the Crufts BIS judges' integrity and thats where Yogi was linked to it all, not fair I didn't see any mention of the integrity of the BIS Crufts judge, there were some comments in regard to the expectations of Moray from the judges at a prior show when he was expecting to get BIS with yogi. The Crufts BIS judges integrity was questioned during this thread, that is the reason I joined the discussion You are reading everything in this thread deliberately as an attack on this dog's win, when no-one but you has mentioned the dog. Likewise I did not question the judges credibility - I said I wonder if he was investigated (seeing as this exhibitor publicly claimed that he would get BIS before it had been judged, and therefore by his own comments brought doubt as to the judges integrity) ETA: I didnt mention the Crufts BIS judge - only the judge who the exhibitor claimed was going to give him BIS at a show last year
  4. yes that was fantastic, plus the young boy with the borzoi, he did a good job too. As did Poodlefan with Fern, running around for the aspiring judges and then in the run off for BOB for me. It was great to meet a few Doler's, even the lurkers I didn't realise that was you Rebanne. It was nice to meet you in person (even though I didnt realise till now ) PF had a great handling day, getting BOB with a Havanese, RUBOB with a Borzoi and BOB with a greyhound!
  5. I'm allowed to post Diva's brag Her girl, Shikata Miss Katerinka was 7 points away from her title. She took out Bitch challenge, getting 7 points and TITLING, then got BOB, and then went on to win BEST IN GROUP ;) Congratulations Diva!!
  6. I know nothing about this case so can't comment on it specifically. Speaking generally as someone involved in show admin, it's nice to see a KC taking this kind of thing seriously. It happens here, and while most judges are ballsy enough to deal with post-show bullshit, it still needs to be dealt with firmly by the controls providing they have sufficient evidence to go on. Someone who tries to bully a judge isn't going to hesitate to attempt to bully a fellow exhibitor, club official or administrator. Being a secretary I often see what happens after a show. There is bugger all point going up to a judge after the fact and being pushy about the fact that they dumped Gr Ch Kafoops Foobar or whatever. Firstly, the judge gets a catalogue, and secondly, get over it. agree (stop posting what I am thinking SSM, or I will become one of those people who only ever posts "me too" ) Interesting though that the KC didnt manage to discuss the case until just after Crufts had finished .... Friends in high places maybe? Or an amazingly lucky co-incidence. Love too that he knew already that he was going to win BIS (if he got through breed and group). I wonder if the General Specials judge was investigated too?
  7. Oh MM I WISH you were over here. I could seriously use help in working out show outfits. Being 'larger' doesn't help as I have so little choice.
  8. Dont forget your straightener too - you know what Howie's headfall goes like when it gets the frizzies
  9. Well, Howard is finished so that's one dog prepped and ready for Tumbarumba. I think Poodlefan has been spending a bit too much time with the Havs though ....
  10. ~Erin~, my OH was exactly the same! After a few months of buying gazebos, trolleys. grooming equipment etc, he asked "so when do you start to make the money back" :D . Oh dears
  11. If the breeder didn't put Nickojoys address on the paperwork, he could not have been sent the white page . I think the fines are excessive, but unless they are wrong, you need to pay them.
  12. A bit neurotic, homebody, prone to sulking, would do anything for you and very sensitive to the moods of others, puts on weight easily, curly untameable hair .... yep, I think Blossom (Maltese) and I are twins
  13. Hmmmm .... tempted to post a shot of the time I was happily doing a triangle and my pants had fallen down somewhat ..... Lesson - dont wear shiny pants over shiny tummy-sucker undies. Shiny pants will shimmy down!
  14. Never thought about going that far south west but I like Swan Hill so who knows? It will all come down to accommodation. Maybe the Canberra Sighthound Mafia need a road trip (with Havanese hangers on) Oi! I'm up for a road trip
  15. I didnt know about the Sunday show either, but when I talked to the show sec early last week I got the impression it was too late to enter Sunday (or I would have!)
  16. I'm devastated BMB hasn't asked me to handle a Hav. Perhaps its because I beat her one time. A dog trailer.. you lucky thing! Hem Hem! I consider you a "hound person" . Or should I be calling for a Poodle person with Houndy overtones? When I showed in Sydney over summer, I had to get help handling in Challenge and/or BOB. For the first lot of shows, no matter which dog I gave to my helper, that dog won . It wasn't my handling, as a few times the handler didn't even get to step foot in the ring before they were awarded . So I am used to it now PF .
  17. We could take .............. MY NEW TRAILER :D
  18. I'll be there. Only 42 others in the Toy group I hope you hound people are going to get there early, in case I need a handler
  19. LOL at the trialling and obedience stories. I have had some severe 'bag on head' moments with mine in agility. Blossom the Malt will take off to sit with the stewards under shelter if the weather is a bit too hot or too cold. If the weather is 'just right' she will pick her own course, usually consisting of each tunnel done three times, then take herself out of the ring . Peebs is a bit of a worrier, and if he thinks he has made a mistake he will go up on top of the dog walk and wont come down .
  20. She's Victoria Stillwell. I think a general problem with televised dog training shows is the impression they leave that these 'difficult' dogs can be turned around very quickly. Sometimes they can but what the owners of such dogs who are watching the show don't see is all the footage that ended up on the editing floor AND how long it takes for some of the methods used to impact on the dog. There are few miracle cures to a problem dog. It can take a hell of a lot of time and effort to turn one round. I worry that those owners who find themselves in this situation and that don't see miracle results will feel frustrated or inadequate and offload the dog. The other aspect of Victoria Stillwell's show I liked (apart from the gawd darn sexy boots and car ) was that they did followups. So the viewer did get to see that after X weeks there was a certain amount of improvement, but there was still a way to to. They also covered a followup where the dog was not responding to training and the decision was made to euthanase. Very sad, but it did show the viewer both the positive and negative outcomes, and the time taken to achieve them. I thought it was a brilliant show for teaching the general public about training their pets, and the consequences of not doing so. Or maybe I just liked the boots ................. :D
  21. So sorry to hear this Bellatrix. I didn't realise you had lost Lucy Such a short time, but I bet it was a great time for her
  22. No, it is not the whole point. The point is that people want to use his methods for problem dogs on ordinary pets. The steps missing when you do that are having the experience that Cesar does to diagnose the issue and to know just how far a dog can be pushed. Most pet owners simply don't have that much savvy. As Patricia McConnell (who believe me, does not need to feel jealous) explains, Cesar's methods often take dogs up to and over their bite threshold. If you think inciting ordinary pets to bite you is an acceptable biproduct of a training method, then you have a different approach to dog training than I do. Personally, I think Cesar tends to perpetuate the myth (not directly but by inference) that most issues with dogs can be solved by dominating them. Ah, if only it was that simple. I've read Cesar devotees on other forums explaining that any disobedience can be resolved by pinning a dog to the ground. I tend to think training a dog is a better option. I think some of his messages are great - particularly on the importance of exercise. Others, are far more problematic. Agree wholeheartedly. What works for Cesar, works for him because of who he is. Take away his uber-confident persona and his experience/skills, and you are left with a method that the average pet owner has no hope of making work for them. Cesar was televised at the same time as Victoria ??? from the UK. I believe her methods are infinitely much more suited to helping pet owners. She gave them excercises to do, changed their routine, and used positive reinforcement (ie showed them how to train the dog!) - most people would easily be able to do what she has shown them to do (except the one woman who couldnt cope not having the dogs on her bed LOL). Cesar walks into a home, chest puffed out, and basically says 'turn into me and your dog will behave'. There's a rather large flaw in that plan ......
  23. I hope he is found safe and well soon James
  24. OMGawd this is so spot on!! I thought I was the only one who didn't like Cesar's methods. Guess I was wrong
  25. What you prefer to happen and what does are different BMP. Competition brings out the best in some folk and the worst in others. If people cannot rationalise that without concluding that it's a conspiracy to drive them from the show ring (as a few do) then they probably won't last and they certainly won't enjoy it. I think it takes stamina and resolve to stick at dog sports, especially when its not going well. That's what I mean when I say "tough". I partly agree . Are there not also people who, despite not winning a lot, keep coming simply because they enjoy the activity with their dogs (or because their dogs love it)? I have always assumed that there were - maybe I am wrong! I dont enter agility events to be competitive - I do it because my dogs love it (even the ones that just do zoomies though each tunnel twice then retire to the stewards hut ), and I dont need stamina and resolve to keep coming back to something that gives my dogs so much enjoyment. Maybe the toughness got me to this stage though as I do remember leaving a few lessons in tears over the years. Edited to put quote tags in correct place
