  1. I know this has been done before, but a search hasnt come up with the thread. Can anyone let me know a camping area close to Erskine Park that will allow dogs in trailers ? (powered site)
  2. bummer - I would have entered if I knew it was at Nimmitabel
  3. I need so many parts (after the weekends storms) that I could probably buy a new gazebo for cheaper than buying the parts retail, which is why I am hoping for some cheapies from someone elses trashed gazebo!
  4. Does anyone have parts from an Oztrail compact canopy for sale? I am after cross-braces and a roof Thanks Gail
  5. I voted "maybe" for pulling a dog out so another could title, and "no" for expecting others to do this for me. I may not enter a dog to help out a friend if the reasons were right. Not everyone has endless time and opportunity to title against all the big winners. That said though, I would not expect anyone to do this for me, and so far they havent LOL.
  6. I had two good results over the weekend. On Sunday (all breeds show), my baby Havanese, Cubana's Barbados Buzz (Imp NZ) got Baby in Group And on Saturday at the Toy dog club show, the Pug I handled (Ch Kabova Afraid of the Dark) got Runner up BEST IN SHOW Buzzy:
  7. Sorry to hear about the puppy you bred . I hope you are able to get a nice photo of him for you and his owners
  8. +1 I was told that double handling was when a person outside the ring tried to get the dogs attention etc. Given that this case is a dog outside the ring, would it still be called double handling? ETA. Also wondering how a complaint would work. The other person could just say they were watching the judging while hanging on to a dog. And of course deny the noises they were making to attract the exhibit.
  9. Last year it didnt get up at all . ETA: Just rang Estelle. Babies up to Thu ARE getting bench space. She doesnt know beyond Thursday as that is all they have done so far. Gail
  10. Its simple if you dont want your nany on display all day dont take it! I dont take nanys to shows. I dont even know what they are. I dont think it is *heathy* for a baby to be on display for 9 hrs. The Royals have decided to run the baby puppy class, presumably to get more entries, so they should have the responsibility for creating rules that look after the welfare of the babies. wt Sydney, they did the right thing and babies only had to stay for half the day. Melbourne are making babies who are entered in the sweepstakes be on display for longer than adult dogs entered in breed classes!!
  11. The Melb Royal rules this year say that baby puppies must be on display all day too. It is the first year they have offered the baby puppy class, and I really think they should not force the babies to be on display for 8+ hrs! Even those only entered in the evening sweepies must be benched and on display all day.
  12. I have seen an exhibitor do what people have described as sparring, but with a dog outside the ring. A cohort brings the other dog to ringside in a position that faces the terrier in the General Specials line up and they become alert and eyeball each other etc. It would be interesting to know if this is allowed, or if it is double handling?? It is very unnerving being the toy between two terriers who are doing this!! Especially when the terrier exhibitor keeps moving right up behind the toy, forcing them forward, so that the two terriers can get closer together.
  13. Have the people who had probs at the Melbourne Royal last year let the organisers know? I had the same probs - couldn't get to the ring, no trolleys allowed in the assembly are ( where or earth are we supposed to keep our dogs while we are in the ring with one?? ), nearly missed my call while pushing through the crowd with my Open Bitch held over my head etc. I did write to Estelle Nix, but apparently I am the only person who has voiced concerns about the difficulties last year. Things wont change if people dont let the organisers know
  14. How awful ;) Someone on another forum has blamed the owner for not supervising her dog . Seriously, it is not possible to watch your dog like a hawk all day! It only takes someone asking a question and you turn your back on your dog. I hope this dog is found soon. I have wondered why there are no staff on pavillion exits at Royals, to stop dogs being taken out. Christina, what happened with the cattle? ETA the dog's profile has been removed from DOL :D Maybe to stop the thief accessing information about the dog?
  15. The new benches were put in last year, just prior to the Royal (they were still assembling them the day before judging apparently).
  16. Some really good points made in this thread. I have jumped from one view to another upon reading good arguements, and now dont know where I stand. But I thought I would suggest that if you decide not to show this dog, there are plenty of other ways your daughter can get involved with her dog. Joining a dog club and doing obedience training would be a good start (she is old enough to handle in obedience classes I think) and can eventually compete if she wants to. Bites are not important in obedience! There are also other ways to get involved in an Ag show - does the one you are going to have cooking or art competitions? If so perhaps your daughter could enter those. Just going to the show and watching the breeds being judged can be great fun - and perhaps your daughter can introduce herself to a few local exhibitors and let them know she is interested in handling. Good luck, whatever you decide :-)
  17. The silver mesh walls let air through, so when used overhead would allow hot air to rise above the wall, and when used on the side, will allow breezes through. As well as this, I'm not sure how much heat a tarp would reflect, so may not provide a very dense shade.
  18. Hi Coloora, It was actually me who started this thread, asking if anyone else was in the same situation of having entries for two of the three shows returned There is definately something odd though, as if the entries arrived 18 days after the closing date, that means it took them 8-10 days to arrive, but only 0-1 days to be returned . Are you in an area that only gets post delivered irregularly? I was told that entries were being accepted at Wagga. Could you let me know if this for all three shows? This is a bit harsh! Neither Yarrowfell nor I have said that the committee acted inappropriately - if you check back on the posts, it is only other posters who have mentioned this.
  19. Interesting .... Which breeds were accepted and which were rejected?
  20. Thanks Cath! Anonymouse works . Now just got to find out why his photo isnt there ....
