  1. That's what I thought, similar to a puppy pyoderma (which is common but usually after 6wks). That's just a staph infection. Pretty unusual in 1 week old pups though?
  2. Has anyone heard of "milk rash" in puppies? I have 1 week old Whippet puppies, only 2 in a litter and they have scabby, purulant lesions on them. They will be taken to the vet but another breeder told me it is milk rash, their hair falls out and it just has to run its course?! Ive never heard of it? Sounds like a Staph or Strep infection to me, i cant see how mums milk can give them a rash?
  3. What a perfectly balanced litter! I tend to use probiotics on the bitch and the pup, if I have one that's weak and fading. Along with all the usual other supportive care like tube feeding and warmth. I just put the probiotic powder in the milk. Good luck with her and fingers crossed.
  4. That's what I thought but I thought they were little dogs .... Better go off and do some research on GPs!! Woohoo Liz, looking forward to news ... German Pinschers!
  5. How are all the mums in labour this morning?! Angelsun what breed do you have? That's a huge litter!
  6. Oh how exciting!!! She looks like she's doing well. :) I love a parti colour. Crissy is doing better than me! Last night she cuddled up on the bed next to me and when I awoke to go to work she wasn't there....she'd gone and lay down in the whelping box (which is bedside). She has the whole house on "High alert". Today is day 59, just needs to simmer a bit longer. :)
  7. I do too, ive never had a parti colour before, only all brindles! Hows Chrissy doing?! ... She looks like she's doing well. :) I love a parti colour.
  8. Not a great photo but this is my little girl
  9. Ooohhh yes i do sorry! We had 4 babies born 17th May (not bad for an 11 year old sire and an almost 7 year old bitch). Baby boy number 1 born with a cleft palate The first one ive ever had. Baby boy number 2 born with stiff hind legs and breathing difficulties. He died shortly after. Baby number 3 is a healthy blue and white parti girl Baby number 4 is a healthy blue brindle with white trim boy So, not a terribly successful litter, but a precious girl for me and a precious boy for Julie who is looking after my girl in QLD. This litter was very important because Scarlett is the only Whippet i have left after losing most of our property to fire last year. She is my foundation and this will be her last litter. So i am praying my baby girl stays healthy. Ill post pics when i have some good ones! I am so excited because i havent had dogs for over a year and not only do i have a Whippy baby joining me soon, i am also waiting for another special baby to be born, fingers and toes crossed! .... :D
  10. Whhhheeeeeeee!! Cavvy bubbas! I think she is proud of that belly!
  11. Hmmm OK, it sounds more complicated than i thought and it sounds like it could get ugly. My initial view was that I would acquire the bitch on breeders terms, I show the bitch and she is a part of our family, she stays with me to whelp and raise the puppies. The co-owner/breeder of the bitch gets first pick of the pups and I get second. We go halves on all vet costs. I would guess this would happen for 2-3 litters. It would benefit me by not having to pay the initial cost for a show bitch, I get second pick of the litter. The benefit for the breeder - first puppy pick .... and im not sure what else! Clearly im an amateur at this!
  12. A Frenchie! Both Pugs and Bostons are fantastic, i would own both (and a Frenchie!). Good luck in your search and photos of your new baby are a must!
  13. Gorgeous!! not a whippet but a blue brindle greyhound approx 2 weeks old 4 weeks 10 weeks old
  14. Check out my website, my Georgie and Gracie are blue brindles!
  15. Yes im a bit of a sucker for the solid brindles, good job because that's mostly what i get! I always wanted a red and white parti colour, but that aint ever going to happen! Hows your mum to be?! :D Probably a bunch of boring blue brindles with white trim! But i love my blue brindles! Lovely, that's the colour we chose when we bought Granny her whippet puppy. Turned out it was the same colour as Grandads very sucessful racing greyhound and they were so pleased when we brought her home as a surprise (don't worry they had hinted mercilessly  )
  16. Probably a bunch of boring blue brindles with white trim! But i love my blue brindles!
  17. A bitch most likely. Is it a dog or bitch?
  18. I have a friend who is doing a paper for her dog club on singleton litters. She is a sports person so cant come in here to the breeders section to ask. Does anyone have some links to research, resources or articles that i could pass onto her please? Thanks
  19. Do breeders still sell puppies on breeders terms? I am asking because I am considering buying a puppy on BT, not selling one. What sort of things should I ensure is in the contract so that the terms benefit both myself and the breeder? I would want the puppy to show and do agility and obedience with, but also to be a part of our family, it would be an inside much loved family member first and foremost. Are there any pitfalls I should be aware of? I am guessing no money is exchanged unless I buy the dog outright at a later date?
  20. Ultrasound showed at least 4 Whippet babies here, Due around the 17th May! Soooo cant wait! Its been a over a year since ive had a Whippet in my life.
  21. I just want to take my hat off to all those who are involved in rescue. You are all wonderful and I have since discovered you need a thick skin to do it, as well as all the love and time. Its harder than i imagined, especially when the outcome isnt always a good one. I have seen in a very short time how rewarding it can be but also how heart breaking. Well done to all of you, you have my utmost respect and admiration!
  22. Oh good god I am so glad they are in good care now. I so wish they were here, id have them in a heart beat and at least get cost price vet treatment for them so they dont cost a fortune for you. Well done to all involved.
  23. Hehe thats OK, no offense taken. I too love Greys and have been in contact with GAP to do some fostering and rehab with them. As soon as we get the proper fencing on our acerage. :D Sorry Whipitgood I disagree.I have known greys to run away screaming from a cat and almost poo themselves when they have seen a chook. My own two greys are scared to death of my friends one eyed foxie. Can't speak for other large dogs but there would be plenty of Greys that could happily live with an Iggy, a chi and even rabbits. No it's ok whipitgood I hope I didn't offend.I don't think you are wrong,I'm just too quick sometimes to jump on my greyhound soapbox
  24. Oh OK, ive never had the two together, I know Greys are not vicious as such, thats not what i meant, Greys are beautiful and big softies. I meant more in terms of an Iggy getting accidentally trampled in excitable play or running. They tend to break easily and i just wouldnt risk an Iggy with any large dog. But ive never had the two together, so i could be wrong. :) Sorry Whipitgood I disagree.I have known greys to run away screaming from a cat and almost poo themselves when they have seen a chook. My own two greys are scared to death of my friends one eyed foxie. Can't speak for other large dogs but there would be plenty of Greys that could happily live with an Iggy, a chi and even rabbits.
