  1. As the topic says, when is the last shows in QLD, Townsville specifically? Thanks. :)
  2. I think you can enter online now, is that right? Must get my entries in ....
  3. Hi there, I am getting back into Agility again and since we will be moving to our 5 acre block soon I am wanting to make up my own equipment. Does anyone have any tips, ideas and links they would mind sharing please? Thanks :D
  4. How many pups has she had? I would be feeding a lactating bitch 4 times a day of good quality food, small meals often. If she has had less than 6 pups then they should be getting plenty of milk and you shouldnt need to supplement, if mums supply is good. Is the one thats losing weight very small? I'd be inclined to give mum the extra feed and have them on her more often. Do you mean give her puppy formula too? Or just to bump up her food? I'm feeding her at least two times a day, but usually three. Plus calcium and nutrigel. Do you think it's a good idea to separate the pups into two groups when it comes to feeding? Like let four on for a feed, then swap over for the other three? Or would the first group just get the best milk, and the 2nd lot would be missing out?
  5. I wouldn't expect a puppy of any breed to be losing weight at 6 days old. My whippets gain around 10-100grams per 24 hour period, some days more, some days less. They are around 11-14kg as adults so they are a bit bigger than a Cavvie.
  6. My hubby suggested Flight of the Firefly! Hehe!
  7. Firefly flicker is great too! Flik was also a name i liked. :D
  8. Oh thanks you guys are great! I like all of them and Mystic was high up on my names list too! I also love Firefly summer ... ill have to look the book up ... :D love this
  9. My theme was "fire" for this litter, but since I only had 2 babies - I have loads to choose from! But I really want a name for my girl with the word Firefly in it. My Prefix is Stonegrace .... any ideas please? Im having difficulty with this one.
  10. They are gorgeous fat little babies Liz! Girl number 1 is divine!
  11. Sorry BB, Its heartbreaking losing a baby. RIP little one.
  12. I would be worried if they didn't have very pink faces and feet! My babies have always had bright pink extremeties and noses, especially when they are warm and toasty. Give me pink any day over pale.
  13. No im afraid sewing isn't one of my strong areas!!
  14. She cant poo on it, when she poos it falls to the ground. She would have to have a very clever anus to shoot poo upwards when there is a tail in the way! Missy is very cute by the way, i love her colour. I think Whippets need coats made specifically for Whippets since they have a very unique shape. They feel the cold terribly and need their neck, thighs and bottom covered. Back to the original post - Whippet wear have lovely things, ive never ordered a coat (because ive either ordered mine from the USA or Oso has made mine! :D ) but i love their cocoon beds! I don't think I want one that covers the bum,she wil end up pooing and probably peeing on it. Missy is mainly inside she is outside during the day if its sunny. The coat really only gets put on if its cold out when we go for walks or monday nights when we go to obedience, other then that Missy lays on our bed with a blanket on or infront of the heater.
  15. That Amazon one is exactly what i was looking for thanks, how long does Amazon take to send things? It takes a while doesnt it?
  16. She has a cold bottom and neck!
  17. You just got a small cuddly woofa too didnt you? I rescued a 700gram puppy, Silky x. He comes everywhere with me but he is too small for a coat so i need something warm to take him out in .... and i want to come over all Paris Hilton like! :D Archibald (meaning bold and brave) - Archie for short! For a WSS??! Damn that'd be impressive.
  18. Does anyone know where i can get one please? It needs to be small, for a tiny dog. The ones on Ebay are huge. Thanks. :)
  19. How are the bubbas Liz? Hows that teensy little girl? Congratulation! Well Done! Very civilized timing. I'm still trying to recover from my Friday night marathon with three pups taking 9 hours from waters break at 4.30pm, first pup at 5.50 pm, next at 1.12 am to final arrival at 1.45 am.
  20. Lets just say im not so quick to judge as some! I think a pet owner rehoming a pet dog for one reason or another, is a different scenario to breeders who simply rehome because they are no longer suited to the show ring. What does make me particularly sad, is breeders/exhibitors rehoming their old dogs, some champions, to make way for younger dogs to go in the ring. Ive seen adverts on the adults available pages, that state exactly that - "they did well in the ring and they are an Australian Champion, but we need to rehome him to make way for his puppies". This was a recent advert. That to me, is appalling. I find rehoming the oldies very sad.
  21. Yes they have seen 2 vets and had the opinion from one other, all preferred not to use antibiotics and recomended bathing in chlorhexidine and betadine and treating it locally rather than systemically. If they are still no better after the weekend, then i will strongly recommend they get oral antibiotics. ETA I dont have mum and the pups here with me. After losing most of our property to fire last year, Scarlett was my one remaining Whippet and she had to stay in QLD with a friend and fellow exhibitor while we rebuilt and repaired. Scarlett is the one with the pups, so ill find out how they are doing on Monday. This skin thing is making me very edgy, ive never seen it before and since it has been over a year since ive had my Whippets, i am desperate for Scarlett and these babies to be OK. I want a Whippy on my sofa again! :D
  22. Im a bit of a fence sitter on this one. Its never felt right to me to rehome dogs because they were no longer "fit" for the show ring. Ive done it three times and both times it broke my heart and i vowed never to do it again. Having said that, if i didnt rehome the three that i did, then i would have too many couch potatoes and nothing to show! I dont have multiple dogs, my dogs are not kept in kennels and they are a part of our family first and foremost, show dogs second. So i tend to be more on the side of disagreeing with it. I can understand why breeders do it, afer all, there are only so many dogs that you can have living on one property. If a breeder is showing every weekend and showing is their life, then again, i can understand the big turnover. I still dont agree with it. But then again, i dont like the idea of dogs living in kennels either, regardless of how well they are cared for. Maybe i think too much like a pet owner rather than a breeder/exhibitor. But that is just my opinion and how i feel. I am not a big time show person because i dont get the time with two small children. It is a hobby that i am hoping to get back into doing about once every 4-6 weeks. if neither of the two "potential" show puppies that will be joining our home soon, work out, then they will stay with us regardless. My two kids are also at an age now where i dont think its fair to rehome their pets. They dont understand the world of showing and my daughter still asks about one of the dogs i rehomed and she misses him. I do think there are certain breeders and showies who have a huge amount of dogs and a massive rehoming history where the dogs seem to be considered disposable. I fail to understand how any one person can give that amount of dogs the quality time, love and care that is required and to be honest, i feel quite sorry for their dogs. Suit on!
  23. Wow a parti would be nice! Can all colours go in the ring? I love the blacks! yes we need the blacks, helps keep the colours rich, improves coat. They come in a lot of colours, parti as well! but never should be in merle
  24. Oh look at all the beautiful babies! Congrats! I saw a black Pomeranian today, I didn't know they came it black. It was very pretty!
