  1. Rexy, seems you have two Issues here. One the Dog being Fearful and the second the Whinging at night. With the Whinging, he knows if he keeps it up, you or somebody appears and that means attention.I would prepare myself to ignore his carry on.Might take a few Nights as he has already had sucess in getting you doing what he wants. So ignore and sit it out. When he no longer gets the result he wants, he will abandon the old Behaviour. Rexy, with the Fear Stage one will find many different views and opinions on this Topic.I myself, keep going but at the same time with a Pup I make sure I am not reinforcing any Fear Behaviour. When I see any Sign of Fearful Behaviour I basically ignore the Pup and adopt a very Calm and casual manner.I am showing the Pup through Body Language and response that it do"s not Matter. It helps to for the Pup to clearly understand I am Number one or Head of the Pack as that way he or she look to me for guidance in any Fearful Situation. 2. Haven,Haven,Haven have at look at your Posts and answers my Friend. Many are also very similar to Mine and Erny"s so join the Club!!LOL LOL Tony
  3. Erny, this is becoming a real Habit as again I have to agree with you 100%!!!Heidley my Friend stick to your Guns and if you think bad Manners was on the go, call it as it as, which you have done!!! Tony
  4. Yasimum, theres the Key to the whole matter.Without realising it you are reinfocing this Behaviour in the Pup.He lays down and you try to get him up or even carry him.He has learnt this will be your response to his Behaviour of laying down.I would be breaking this Conditioning down right now before it becomes more ingrained. You mentioned his Health is fine so we will rule that out of the Equation. This would be my response to his antics. You will need Patience and need to change your own Behaviour. When he decides to lay down, do not try to get him up and do not carry him!!!!!Stand there and ignore him altogether, do not even make Eye Contact. It will take Patience but sooner or later he will get sick of laying down and will get up.When he gets up then praise him and move off.if he lays down again repeat the same Treatment. Might be easier if the walks are kept short till he is older too. Tony
  5. How long does he lay down for at a time?
  6. how far into a Walk before he decides to lay down?
  7. Yasimum, how far are you walking this Pup? Tony
  8. Dust Angel, one remedy is to Put a Strap around your Dogs Girth which is just behind the Front Legs. This Strap go"s right around the Dog and is done up.Midway down the Side of this Girth Strap you have two Smaller Straps one each side, running up and attatching to the Collar. When the Dog trys to slip the Collar, it will pull the Strap around its Girth up against the back of the Front Legs. The Front Legs then become a Barrier to the Collar coming off. Tony

    Milk

Arley, if you must give Milk try Goat"s Milk. The Molecular size of Goats Milk is much closer to a Bitch"s than Cows milk. Tony
  10. Bullygirl, take no notice of those having a go at you!!!Its like sorting the Wheat from the Chaff.Take the information from those like Erny and some others and disregard the rest. Sadly on Sites like this Many do not wait till they have all the Facts before jumping in. Tony
  11. Bullygirl, exactly thats the core of the problem. Tony
  12. Bullygirl, I say this to help you not attack in any way. From where I am sitting it seems like you need to evaluate your Leadership.Seems like the Dogs has the Idea he is Leader. This of course tells him he has to protect you all and take charge. Bullygirl, there is some good and informative material out there on Pack Leadership and so forth.Do a Google on Dog Leadership,Cesar Milan,Kevin Rebane,Jan Fennel. Bullygirl,if you Pm me a Postal Address I will send you a Copy of Cesar Milan"s Book as it may help you. Tony
  13. Nekhbet, well said, you took the Words out of my Mouth. tonymc
  14. Poodlemum, you have overlooked one little detail in your post.A Dog"s head is connected to his Neck. Tonymc
  15. I am starting to wonder if this Thread is a Windup? Tonymc
  16. Forget about the Headcollar!!Headcollars,Halters are fine on Horses but not for Dogs in my Book!!!I would invest some time and money in training yourself and the Dog. Tonymc
  17. Get a reality Check Folks especially Molasses!!!This is the very thing being talked about in another Thread "Horrible People on DOL". Samoyedman was asking a question, to get a bit of an Idea about feeding not a full on Lecture about what he should be doing with his Dog!!!I could see from where I am he was throwing a bit of Humour in his Post!!!Its a bit sad when somebody is accused of Lying and being indoubt about their Sexuality when all they did was ask a Question!!! Tonymc
  18. Sonic I have to agree with you.I cannot see how a Dog chasing Stock would be stopped without Channeling Prey Drive in another direction and using some aversive action. Tonymc
  19. I use a combination of positive and correction depending of course on the circumstance and stage of learning of the individual Dog.The biggest problem I see with corrections are People applying them well before the Dog even understands what it is being asked. That in itself is not a problem with Correction, but lack of knowledge or awareness on the part of the Human concerned. 20. Briged, notice how you said once its Dark she does not do it, as she knows its a waste of time.Thats the key.Daylight of course is different of course as you have unknowingly taught her the Habit that now is a Problem. She soon learnt,She barks at the Door and you come running!!!Now to break this habit your are going to have to initally put up with some Barking.you are going to have to ignore her more than you have so far.Let her Bark and Bark and ignore her. When she settles and has been quite, then go to the Door. You have to now link the reward to being quite and not to Barking. 21. Koliz,I wonder are you treating this pup like a Pup or like a Baby?Like everybody else said I would simply pick your Clothes up and keep them out of his reach.I would certainly do an analysis of your management of this pup. tonymc
  22. Many Vet"s will use a Local obvisouly depending on the individual Circumstances. For example I had a Pup with Entrophion and the Problem was dealt with under a Local. Tonymc
  23. Pawprints a Dog basically lives in the moment.Forward thinking is a Human ability not a Canine attribute.Your Pup is only 10 Weeks old and Behaviour is not at this stage set fast. A Pup or Dog does not see any type of Behaviour as good or bad.So it is up to us to shape his Behaviour the way we want it. I would persist with what you are doing but be a little more Patient. As your aware to stop or disrupt any Dog behaviour, we need to actually catch them in the Act not before or after.Catching the Pup in the Act I would make a noise such as Clapping and a loud and firm NO!!!I would then take him straight outside. As you are doing when he relieves himself Praise greatly and or give a Food Treat. This Time though after the Praise leave him outside whilst watching him.Leave Him giving him the Opportunity to relieve himself a Second time before going back inside. When he relieves himself a second time praise and reward him as per usual. You must be persistent and consistent.
