  1. We love all our toys that Michelle has sold us! They also double up as pillows when all that play makes puppies tired
  2. I have taken Gabby to see Rowan for Chiro when Doc has been unavailable on two occasions and found him to be a really nice man and very helpfull. He is open minded, seems keen on accupuncture etc.
  3. Coast I had the Conmurra Midi hydrobath and sold it earlier this year. I own Cavaliers and the bath was absolutely perfect for them. The largest breeds I ever had in it were Cockers and a few staffies. You really couldnt go much bigger then that. They really are brilliant baths, worth the money but I am far too lazy to groom my own dogs. Hence, I sold it and pay someone else to do it!
  4. Michelle thankyou SO MUCH for BRILLIANT service! The toys arrived this morning by courier and the dogs went nuts over them I am a little sad to announce we already have a squirel missing, but I have faith that he will be under the lounge lol Not bad in less then 2 hours though!!! I will add some photos later today
  5. Really?? I will go over tommorrow then and get some! I dont live all that far away from there anyway. In the past I have never been able to find anyone who just has the tips so id buy the full wings either at Woolies or Lennards, give them the tips and then make 101 different types of marinated BBQ wings for us hoomans with the remainders  Im really not fussed with anything thats on a bone to eat myself so this is music to my ears lol
  6. Huski about 18 months ago, maybe a bit longer I joined one of the yahoo groups that are all about RAW feeding. I got a few different recipees to have a go at making my own mix and ended up with constipated dogs after every attempt. Or, some would eat it and some wouldnt. The other painfull thing is I have some that can only eat chicken, one that couldnt eat any chicken, one that was prone to impactions etc etc I did try for a few months with different recipees and in the end chucked my arms in the air, yelled a bit and decided Id just feed the Dr B chicken patties as everyone but one could eat them (BTW Mr I cant eat chicken has a new home now It isnt cheap but I just couldnt come up with anything that was suitable for everyone on my own. I would like to try again but really dont know if it is worth it now. They LOVE the BARF patties and they seem to maintain decent weights, whereas when I fed more my own mix they put on weight. The money doesnt worry me but im always looking for 'new ideas' and other things to try. Especially if there is something even better available. They currently get half a BARF pattie a day, Royal Canin breed specific food and extras (not everyday) like chicken wing tips, turkey necks, veal ribs (for those who can eat them) and venison when its cheap at the New Farm markets as well as sardines, yoghurt etc etc I would just really like to find another option for my old boy so when the others are eating bones and he is watching longingly I can give him something 'special' too. Its probably more for my sake then his as it makes me really sad (and pathetic). It needs to be soft though as he seriously does have barely a tooth in his head. Im not talking, has a few missing, he honestly barely has ANY! Thankyou for everyones info and advice so far too
  7. Here they are. Andisa thankyou HEAPS for you time in taking the photo! Wowee that is better value then getting the individual patties in the box! I have 8 kids here at the moment and those Baby Barf Chubs would be significantly better value. I really hope my store starts to stock them soon!!! Where are you at out of curiosity, Im guessing absolutely nowhere near me
  8. If you wouldnt mind taking a photo (when you have time) Id really appreciate it. The store I buy my BARF from hasnt mentioned any new products, and there certainly wasnt anything new in their freezer this morning They did tell me it was going to have a fairly decent price rise fairly soon though to over $20 a box. The combo flavour is a mix of all meats isnt it? I have tried a few other flavours and they either refused to eat it, or they got the runs from it. Now we just buy chicken flavour
  9. Andisa do you have any info on why it is apparently better then BARF? Everyone that I have spoken to has made that claim, but none of them seem to know why What exactly are the 'Baby Barf Chubs' that you mentioned??? I am very new to this range of products, but as I said love the DR B BARF patties and feed them daily. I just happened to pick up a pamphlet of this companies today and noticed they have products other then that grain mix stuff and that got me curious
  10. Just curious as to whether or not anyone has ever tried this? I never realised they made a 'wet' food, the only product I was familiare with is there dried 'bird food' like mix thats designed to be fed with raw meats. This product is said to be 'better then BARF', though I think would work out more $$$ then the Patties.... If anyone has tried it and would like to share some feedback Im deffinately interested. I have one very elderly rescue boy here who cant have bones, for a few reasons but the main being he has virtually no teeth in his head! I have been feeding the chicken BARF for quite some time, its the only flavour I feed, together with royal canin breed specific and other bits such as sardines, yoghurt, chicken wing tips etc etc It may very well be a case of 'if it isnt broken dont fix it', but sometimes I look at my old boy watching the others eat things he cant have and would like to offer him something different and a 'bit special' too. Something just for him This product is Kangaroo based so I assume would be suitable for his allergies. If you go to the following link, and select the top option 'Premium choice' there will be info about this product. http://www.vetsallnatural.net/products.html It is apparently around $8 for a 800g packet
  11. Wagsalot I have just PM'd you, but just incase Lou would like the Junior squirel please, and Leo would like one of the egg babies if you have any left. He isnt fussy which one When you get your new stock in could you please keep us in mind for the Bee one please :p
  12. How big is the bee or squirrel toy? Is it too large for a Cavalier?? Wagsalot do you have the bee one?? I will be buying one, of some sort this friday (payday lol) I prefer the bee or squirrel to the egg ones but they look quite large for a delicate little Cavalier ;)
  13. My BARF man delivered me 2 rabbit flavour boxes by accident a few weeks ago and my kids wont eat them. The business owners replaced them with chicken ones for me that same day for the mess up but werent able to accept them back for obvious health and safety reasons. Instead they told me to keep them. I have only opened one pattie and it went into the rubbish in no time!!! If anybody would like the two boxes of them they are free but you will need to pick them up (Brisbane North) and youll need to get them before bin day (lol) which is Thursday. Let me know if youd like them
  14. I go to Pet Stock at Indro too, didnt know there were DOL's there though ?????? Curious now lol I also like Pets Planet at Windsor for boutique style stuff. They used to sell live stock, but I had heard they no longer do. I have to admitt I havent been there though in over a year so im not 100% sure.
  15. I have to say I totally agree wih you Pagaman, it does look like bird seed and it smells like sawdust I did what I was supposed to do with it and my kids just picked the meat out of it and then would run up and down the sofa wiping their chops on it to get all the birdy food off their whiskers I thought it was a terrible waste, and too grainy. I much prefer my BARF patties.
  16. I only ever walk Cavaliers on a Harness, NEVER EVER EVER a collar and a lead. One reason is they are a semi Bracycephalic breed and you can restrict their airways to much especially when they are still learning NOT to pull. Also, take into account how many of them have soft Palette issues. My dogs chiropractor also feels very strongly about this and rouses on all Cav owners that use collars and leads. If you have an old dog that plods along and puts no force on the collar, well it may be a different story, however from one cav person to another, I promote Harnesses all the way. All of my kids are rehomed with a harness and the owners are told NO COLLARS AND LEADS PLEASE!!!! The best harnesses you can buy in my opinion, and my chiros are the puppia soft mesh style. You can get them in pretty prints and lots of funky colours. Check out 'two small puppies' as they have an AWESOME range to choose from and the best price iv ever seen Puppia at. Email Erin from two small puppies, tell her its for a cav and she will give you lots and lots of recommendations. Good luck Kyla
  17. I have had HUGE success with a combination of Sashas Blend and Chiro. I also swim her in a large tub every second day and keep the weight off. Cartro is another option, although in my case I was lucky enough that after the intital shot was given, the other methods have been enough to keep the arthritis at a minimum. Another product I recommend is SeaFlex. Good luck! Kyla
  18. Can I have some feedback on this product, if anyone has used it and what they think?? Iv been using Advocate on my dogs, but its actually cheaper for me to change to this product for HeartWorm and Intestinal worms, and then use the xlarge dog frontline in a syringe and divided up amongst my kids for flea coverage etc. Not going to do the switch though untill I have heard some opinions and thoughts on this product. Kyla (I have 10 permanent residents, sometimes more so unfortunately cost does matter ALOT)
  19. I have a particulare interest in Canine Nutrition, always have. When I was still studying this was always the area I found most interesting, sadly though I dont believe nutrition receives enough focus in Vet Medicine courses. Anyhow, I personally feel that every dog will respond differently to various diets and it is upto the owner to use their discretion and common sense to find what does and doesnt work. When It comes to nutrition in the dog world there seems to be a whole lot of chiefs and not too many Indians! (not refering to this thread) However not enough people understand that what works for THEM doesnt work for Joe and his dog Bob. A few years ago I went on the BARF rampage, basically if you wernt feeding BARF I wanted you burnt at the stake. lol Nowerdays I realise that not every dog will eat BARF, and WHY force them to eat something they do NOT enjoy when there are other options available that they will respond better to. I do not believe in Supermarket foods, and I dont recommend Hills or Euk/IAMS either, however if it works for YOUR dog and you have taken the time to do the research and feel comfortable with the product then why change? Of course you should suppliment with bones etc I currently feed EP Holistic, Royal Canin Mini Sensible, BARF patties (chicken flavour) and a large amount of fish and bones. I also add natural yoghurt, free range organic eggs and various oils to their meals as is required. I do this because I have kids that love BARF and dont like biccies so much and vice versa. I have a cav here that has THRIVED on RC Skin and Digest after coming to me with a severe skin condition. Most foods (within reason) have a place. Its upto us as responsible owners to do as best we can, and can afford to feed them, with a product that best suits their needs. Its also important not to be bullied by the BARF nazis, the HILL's nazis etc either, as I said, what works for one wont always work for another. Kyla
  20. I use the plush puppy whitener on my Tri's and my Blenheims and I dont worry about washing seperate colours with seperate shampoos (although great idea to the person who suggested it ). I dont have any problems at all, and I personally am yet to find ANY other grooming products that compare to plush puppy. We are Plush Puppy snobs here, I have just about every PP product there is just for the sake of having it. Now dont even get me STARTED on that pixie dust LOL Kyla
  21. Hi all, Im slightly *desperate* for some non biased advice on buying clippers suitable to slip heavy coated Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. I clip all of my older cavs, and take them usually every three months to be done all over. Im fairly happy with the service I receive where I go at Dogues Ascot, however the price continues to rise and I find myself with an extra dog quite often! I have reached the point where I think I may be better off clipping them myself. I have been to Pet Hypermarket and a few others to ask about Clippers but I get the general impression that they know little and just point to the most expensive. Im not especially worried about the price as I figure they will be worth it in time, but I would really like advice from people who know and arnt trying to rip me off lol Iv been told Osters are the best and that I need 2speed at least as im doing the entire dog. 1 Speed is just for points, faces, feet etc ???????? Also, what size blades would I need? What brand and model really would be the best for what I need? Im really gratefull for any help or advice as I really dont have much idea (if any!) Thanks again Kyla
  22. If you have any carpet or even just floor rugs a great way to freshen the smell of the house up is to use a foam type product called 'No Vac for fresh carpets'. You need to choose the one that 'Neutralises pet odours' though as they have all different types for different problems. Its not so much a heavily perfumed foam but rather leaves the house smelling fresh. I cant stand bit odours and for that reason, hate alot of those flora toilet sprays etc. Some make me quite nausious infact. This carpet foam is really good though! Just spray it on carpets or rugs, then leave it for about 15 mins then I vacuum over it when its dry. It isnt that expensive either a 300mL/290g NET tin is less then $6.00. I but it at Woolworths, but im sure coles etc would have it. Fantastic stuff im very impressed with it. Kyla
  23. Well, Im not a Greyhound expert AT ALL, but I have fostered them, and have friends with two from GAP that I babysit for a weekend a month, and my Father in Law has two IMMACULATELY kept racers. Based on that knowledge and also being only weeeeeeks away from vet school grad, My opinion is............. (DRUM ROLL) THEY ARE LOVELY! LOL They are a little plump, but I wouldnt have said they are FAT!!! They to me are typical of what happens to dogs in nice adoptive homes with good food and a fantastic spoilt lifestyle post being a racing dog. Imy for what my opinion is worth, YOU know yourself that they cant get any bigger, so just trust your judgement (i think your right anyway) and just monitor them and ensure no more weight gain. They are not dangerously obese, or even fat in my opinion. They are just loved! Wow, you should see some of my little fatties! If your all so narky with Imy about her greys, you lot would burn me at the stake!!! EEEEK! Kyla and her fatties
  24. I have one HOT PINK Skirt suit LARGE size 12 with really lovely jacket for a give away. The skirt sits about three inches above my knees and Im 165cm tall, would be ridiculously short on a tall person LOL I am a small 16 now but it still fits me, just makes my chunky little leggles look like telegraph poles I also have the same suit in Sky Blue. Its a bit bright and offensive though LOL They were both purchased at Harrods when I showed GSPS for a few months in 2001 in the UK. They are lovely good quality suits, but not for the reserved showie LOL Kyla QLD CAVALIER RESCUE
  25. I am a VERY devoted BARFER. This diet applies to both my own CAVALIERS and those that I have in rescue. I must add though, that never ever EVER do any dogs in my house eat ANY food product, whether that be Meat or meat product, dairy or fresh produce that IS NOT ORGANIC FREE RANGE. No meat comes through my door even that isnt organic, same with the goats milk, the eggs the fruit and vedge and yoghurt that all of my dogs eat. It is so so so important in my mind anyhow as I do not put into my own body foods that are full of nasty chemicals and steroids, many of which are carconogenic. Absolutely everything MUST be organic in my opinion. Now I know many people will be shaking their heads at the thought of the cost, however organic food is premium food, concentrated food and a smaller amount is needed. People ask me how the hell I have CAVALIERS that have gone 15 years, well ................I FEED ORGANIC ONLY!!! If nothing else, AT LEAST feed organic offal, afterall it is within the organs and under the skin that all of the chemicals lay in an animals body. Kyla BVSc (nearlly lol) QLD CAVALIER RESCUE
