  1. Any vet who tried to force a diet on my dogs would be getting a smackdown from me no matter whether the diet was kibble or raw.
  2. And also streaming here: http://www.ustream.tv/wkclive1
  3. No wheatens. Good news that there's six kerries and two glens, though!
  4. I know someone who taught his wheaten to free stack. The dog was also a CDX. He'd stop in the ring and just boom, autostack. It was a marvellous thing to see.
  5. Grumpy has enormously stinky breath now that he's not allowed even to have the occasional bambi, sheep, pig or beef ear. He's not getting anything to clean his teeth so I'm thinking of getting some of the add-to-the-food Proden. I'm concerned about tummy troubles though and it seems from those in the thread who have dogs with health issues that it may cause an upset? Am I reading that right?
  6. I've also seen people in front deliberately stop short of where they're supposed to be so that the person behind runs into the exhibitor in front.
  7. Yes, and sometime when one has had advise and training help in the past they apply what has been learnt, but sadly, sometimes it is an individual problem and a "one size fits all" solution isn't going to work. And sometimes people 'ask' for advice but it is really just confirmation of what they already subconciously know they should do. Also, some people ask for advice and then get annoyed when it isn't the advice they wanted.
  8. Thanks, Mita. I'll let Catherine know. Thanks to everyone else who has shared.
  9. A lot of people, I suppose, think they can resolve issues on their own and only as a last resort asks for advice. This, of course, applies equally to asking for advice on dogs and seeking to resolve their own owner issues.
  10. Thanks both, hoping others will be equally as generous given this thread has had 169 views but only two responses.
  11. Was hoping those with Facebook and Twitter accounts could help out a FB friend. Catherine is a Junior Handler from Ireland. Her dogs, Tipp (wire fox terrier) and Bullet (welsh terrier), were stolen from a backyard in Enniscorthy, County Wexford, Ireland. Catherine does really well showing Tipp and her friends are trying to get the word out. If you have a Facebook and/or Twitter account, can you share the Facebook page link about Tipp and Bullet being stolen and ask your friends/followers to also share. I know Catherine is not Australian and no one here will know her but she's kid who wants her dogs back and social media can really help get the word out. You'll need to log into Facebook to see the link. Facebook link
  12. I imagine that finding accommodation is somewhat difficult in New York.
  13. He was very annoyed that he didn't get an after dinner treat but health wise, all is good. I have worked out that it's probably the cheese biscuits. I'm going to swap these out for the fish treats I got the other day and see if he still has a wobbly tummy.
  14. The kerry blue terrier has been put on the endangered breeds list in the UK. This article from the Irish Independent discusses the listing. I noted in the Irish puppyfarm topic that although the Irish didn't have a lot of their native breeds, they are very patriotic about them. Notably, the Independent gets the name of where Michael Collins was assassinated wrong. Doh. One of the videos on the British Pathe website (which has lots of lovely dog show videos from the UK and Ireland) actually shows Collins with Convict 224 (Collins' convict number when he was interned at Frongoch in Wales post the 1916 Easter Rising) and has a video of one of Collins' kerry puppies.
  15. What type of dogs have been stolen around Geelong?
  16. No charcoal tablet, everthing's been poo-ed out it it seems (well put, Boronia!). He seems to be okay now but he didn't have a tablet last night so he's a bit wobbly. If it's not one thing ...
  17. Will have to see what comes out, so to speak. He's very puffy but it might be the heat. I tried him on a new fish jerky treat yesterday so it's probably that.
  18. Oh dear, arrived home to a horrible sounding Grumpy tummy.
  19. It wasn't a big group unfortunately. But it was nice to see a nice young Kerry Blue, that won RUIG, and also a Wheaten! It's been ages since I saw one down this way! A wheaten? Wow!
  20. I've heard good things about Hair of the Dog in Tuggeranong but haven't taken my dog there. If it's just a bath then Dog World (I take the Grumpy man there). Used to see Heather in Red Hill but haven't for some time. She did a great job with Mini.
  21. What can I say? He's a spoildy man.
  22. Can you attach lengths of chicken wire to the bottom of the fence then bury it under the ground so it's in an l-shape, coming out from the fence? About a metre would probably do it.
  23. And some dogs don't get shown at all, some of whom are brilliant examples of their breed. I don't want to get into the regular round of 'if you don't show, you're a puppyfarmer' nonsense because that's precisely what that argument is, but showing doesn't indicate brilliant dogs, it indicates what dogs show up. Sometimes they're brilliant dogs. True, better examples might never be shown but I would choose from a line of winners for a show prospect. The dog show system is not without flaws, like anything human. Shows always produce more sour grapes than sweet ones too. It may not have anything to do with showing at all. It may be something else entirely, the dog not liking showing, for example. Doesn't mean the dog isn't a good prospect for breeding.
