  1. Yes - normal price is around $400 but he has an early bird price. Can't remember as I booked ages ago but it was around $200. This is the one I did: http://www.koukei.com.au/#/workshops/140316_Melbnl These two are still coming up: http://www.koukei.com.au/#/workshops/140322_portrait http://www.koukei.com.au/#/workshops/140323_beauty
  2. Peter didn't say anything but I think the concrete would have been acting as a giant reflector. Not long after this we put the girls in the middle of a whole lot of really light gravel and he did tell us to note then how the light was reflecting up off the ground and giving us a really even light on their skin.
  3. Nope, absolutely nothing at all. Here is the image SOC: It was honestly so bright that I couldn't see and wished to god I had sunglasses - we were standing on top of a concrete car park so it was all light, really hot and so so bright. It was really horrible actually and the poor model in the pic got a headache from the glare. What Peter told us is that when photographing in full bright sunlight, position your model with the sun directly behind her or directly in front of her, no side on. These were taken at 1pm so the sun was right overhead. In this shot, the sun is behind her. We were spot metering but because her face was in shade, we could meter off any part of her face. The one on the previous page of the same girl side on was also taken in full sun - she had to stand with her eyes closed as it was too bright for her and then as soon as she opened them, I took the pic lol. We also made her stand in some corners of Hosier Lane that men had obviously used as a urinal. I don't think she was getting paid enough lol.
  4. Thanks all. He was really great Huga and I think the workshop was very reasonably priced. Just a small group of eight photographers plus two models so that made it really nice too.
  5. Thanks guys :). Snook, he's a great teacher and if he comes to Adelaide for a workshop, go if you can. I really hope to do more with him in the future.
  6. I attended the Peter Coulson workshop on Sunday and it was brilliant - I learnt so much (interestingly, he always has his camera set to monochrome (the raw files are still colour) as he finds it easier to see blown out bits in black and white). Here are some of the pics: The image below was taken in full sunlight in the middle of the day. Prior to the workshop, trying to take pics at this time of the day would have freaked me out but he showed us it is possible if we set up our model correctly :)
  7. Thanks KA, took it yesterday at the Peter Coulson workshop - it's the only pic I've had a chance to edit yet. This was taken in an car park. There was light from outside shining on the models face, and we positioned her directly under a fluro light which put beautiful catch lights into her hair. She's gorgeous and was lovely to work with.
  8. Aren't they cute? They are my cousins kids :)
  9. Ouch KA!! 11/52 - Maggie, Gus & Will
  10. Congratulations!! I'm jealous - think I'd rather the new tamron than my bigma sigma :)
  11. Lol thanks Bertie - perhaps you and I have a slightly warped sense of humour :)
  12. I came across this on facebook and, for me, found it very funny and I love her photos. Thought I'd share :) http://suzanneheintz.prosite.com/7996/135487/gallery/life-once-removed
  13. Yesterday I went along to a photo walk in the city of Melbourne organised by Creative Photo Workshops. It was the first time I've worked with a model and she was brilliant. It was a long day (started at 9.30am and finished at 4.30pm) but I learned a lot and it was a nice group of people. Well worth going along :). Photos here
  14. Yesterday I went on a photowalk run by Creative Photo Workshops. Learned some new stuff and had a good, if tiring, day :) 10/52 - Natasha
  15. Thanks everyone! It was pure luck I had my camera with me - I don't usually on a work day. When I was walking down to my car I looked across at the paddocks and thought wow, how beautiful the light is. Then I stood and tried to make up my mind if I'd go back to the house to get my camera or not... stopping to take photos would make me late to work. The light won  . This is what made me go back for the camera: Kirislin, I think that's one of the lovely things about liking to see the world through a lens - it tends to encourage us to take note of the beauty and joy all around us. Like you, I often keep driving when I see something beautiful and think I should stop and try to capture it in my camera. But I'm trying hard now to pull over, turn around, go back and get out :)
  16. As I turned out my driveway this morning I was lucky enough to see this. What a beautiful way to start the day :)
  17. So very sorry to read you've lost your dear girl Kirislin. RIP beautiful Kibah.
  18. No problems - I thought it sounded fun and it will be nice to walk around the city in the dark without worrying about safety :)
  19. Just read about this and it sounded fun: http://photographynightwalks.com/ I've signed up for the one at the State Library. They have them in other capital cities too :) . Tickets are just $30.
