  1. I accidently called Fern to put her to bed last night.... I vacuumed and mopped and everything last night as well. Cant quite bring myself to put away Fern's bowl and bed yet. I tried but Abby has always come with me in the car to my mum's or to Karate or other places I go. Karate has finished for the year now, but I will make a few special trips just to take her out. I have just asked the lady next door if she has heard Abby during the day and apparently she has been howling nearly non stop the last 2 days. So much so that she has stuck her head over the fence numerous times to make sure she is ok. So glad I have a good neighbour who doesn't crack the shits with all my doggy stuff.
  2. Some of you will know that I lost my Cav Fern on Wednesday. It is hard enough for me to cope, but my Rottie, Abby, isn't coping either. Abby and Fern weren't like some dogs who are joined at the hip and dote on each other, but they had a quiet bond and clearly loved each other. Since Fern passed, Abby has been howling every afternoon when I get home from work. When she comes inside she just sits and stares at me. She's always been pretty cruisy and not really run around inside or anything like that, but she is just so quiet now. And since before Fern passed Abby had bumped her trying to get out the door and this was ultimately what caused her to be put to sleep, abby is very funny around doors at the moment. She doesn't want to go outside in the morning and refuses to go out unless I walk out the door first and call her. Does any one know of anything I can do to help her? As much as I want Fern back, I dont want Abby to suffer and I want her happy as well.

    Fern

Today it has hit me again. Bawling my eyes out and wondering if I should have done something differently. Abby howls every night when I come home from work. I think she is missing Fern too. Does anyone know if there is anything I can do to help her? She has her other doggy companion, but they have never been close. Abby and Fern, while they weren't overly outgoing playful dogs, their quietness is something they bonded over.

    Fern

It doesn't feel like home anymore. Abby is miserable, she just sat by me all night last night looking up at me.

    Fern

Even in so much pain today and unable to walk, she was happy in my arms. She looked up at my face and tried so hard to reach up and lick my face, something she knows is a no no. I lowered my face to hers and let her lick my nose. Buried my face in under her ear and then she was gone.

    Fern

Aust Ch Daventri Regal Delight "Fern" My beautiful Cav girl Fern been givin her wings this morning. She has been with me though so much, She was my rock when I left an abusive relationship, she was there sitting on my knee when my ex smashed all the windows in my house to scare me, she slept with me when I moved back to mum's house, She adored her big sister Abby when we brought her home. I brought Fern home at about 5 and a half years old and loved her right from the start. How could anyone not? She had the sweetest dispostion of any dog I have ever met, she let all my kittens and my Rottweiler and Amstaff dribble all over her, the kittens would love playing with her big dangly ears and ever wagging tail. To see Fern was to love her. She loved kids, my step grandkids were so frightened of dogs when they first started coming over, but they loved her as she was so gentle. She knew those who were frightened of dogs and would wait and watch. She knew when to approach them and would do it so slowly, sidle over to my grand daughter and just sit in front of her, eventually she would reach out and pat her ears, Fern just loved it. She loved any attention she could get. If you were patting her she would sit happily with you for hours. She would always sit and watch everyone eat. Never touching you, just silently begging with her eyes. She always sucked me in and usually ate more of my dinner than I did!! She was suffering with a heart murmur for quite some time and this was being managed, but in a freak incident this morning she hurt her back or hip, one of which was more than likely broken. The heart murmur made surgery very risky so the decision was made to not put her though that and have her pass in my arms instead of an operating table with strangers. Home wont be that same anymore baby girl. I love you so much. I haven't stopped crying since I left you. I hope there is a Bridge and that you are there and happy and healthy and whole. Goodbye my angel.

  15. I feel really terrible, like I'm a bad owner cos they have fleas. My yard is all dirt at the moment, with 3 big dogs in there, and the cav inside all the time, so it is just like a mud pit. I will flea bomb the house this weekend too. Do you know if it is one of the ones where you have to leave the house for a few hours???
  16. My dogs have never had fleas. This year, I dont know, maybe cos it is so hot and wet and humid here, they like those conditions or something. all 4 dogs have them so I treated them all and the cat. Saturday is a big bath day this week in my house. All 4 of them and then try to do the cat as well.....
  17. My dogs all have fleas. I have treated them with frontline and powdered their beds. I have to wait 2 days to bath them and will be doing so with flea shampoo. Is there anything else I can or should do? My old Cav is really suffering with it. I had her in the bath and so much blood was washing off her I was horrified and so angry at myself for not seeing it earlier and letting her suffer.

  20. Thanks, me too. PLease if there is anyone in the area, keep an eye out for him. Photos on my facebook page.
  21. Never done it before PF, never had an interest, far too lazy. But if something really interesting was on the other side of the fence, then I couldn't say for sure that he couldn't do it.
  22. Just had a phone call at work to say that the OH's 1 year old Amstaff is missing from our yard. Rotty and Cav still in yard. No possible signs of escape. Feared stolen, though 16 year old son was home and didn't hear anything. Fingers crossed everyone for the safe return of Tua please. And if anyone is in the Fleetwood drive/Golflinks road area, please keep an eye out for a white amstaff with a big blue grey patch on his bum. Very friendly dog.
