  1. Aww she beautiful I love those pretty black girls. Happy Birthday Jane, time to stop chewing now your a big girl.
  2. How Many Dogs Does It Take to Screw in a Light Bulb? Golden Retriever: "The sun is shining, the day is young, we've got our whole lives ahead of us, and you're inside worrying about a stupid burned out bulb?" Border Collie: "Just one. And then I'll replace any wiring that's not up to code." Dachshund: "You know I can't reach that stupid lamp! Rottweiler: "Make me" Boxer: "Who cares? I can still play with my squeaky toys in the dark." Lab: "Oh, me, me!!!!! Pleeeeeeeeeze let me change the light bulb! Can I? Can I? Huh? Huh? Huh? Can I? Pleeeeeeeeeze, please, please, please! " German Shepherd: "I'll change it as soon as I've led these people from the dark, check to make sure I haven't missed any, and make just one more perimeter patrol to see that no one has tried to take advantage of the situation. " Jack Russell Terrier: "I'll just pop it in while I'm bouncing off the walls and furniture." Old English Sheep Dog: "Light bulb? I'm sorry, but I don't see a light bulb! " Cocker Spaniel: "Why change it? I can still pee on the carpet in the dark." Chihuahua : "Yo quiero Taco Bulb. Or 'We don't need no stinking light bulb.' Greyhound: "It isn't moving. Who cares? " Australian Shepherd: "First, I'll put all the light bulbs in a little circle... " Poodle: "I'll just blow in the Border Collie's ear and he'll do it.. By the time he finishes rewiring the house, my nails will be dry. "
  3. OT could you please most a pic of the over bite and how it has improved, I remember seeing a photos of it when he was younger. My old JRT had a massive one as a pup and it as totally corrected now, it took until he was about 3 to finally settle. I work in Dentistry (human) and its so interesting how the jaw and teeth will continue to move after adolescence, I'm pretty sure canines would be the same.
  4. This poll has jinxed me, I usually have perfect dogs considering that the oldies are 19 and 18 ( there too old to have any issues) and my 5 year old Flat Coat is a very good girl. So I smugly ticked out the perfect dog boxes. Last night my good girl chewed up a pillow from my bed white fluffy stuff every where.
  5. Thank you for all kind well wishes. Craig was such a good boy and never caused me a moments trouble (apart from 2 ops on his patellas) he fitted in so well with the other dogs they all loved him. The day he died was such a blur we had 5 year 10 old boys here all weeping and wailing (Craig went to all their soccer matches and training) the boys all wanted to stay and helped bury him. We let the other dogs see his body and they all had a good sniff so I'm pretty sure they knew he was dead, my old female dog was the most interested she tried to push him over and kept licking his face. Goodbye Craig everyone you met thought you were the happiest dog in the world and you were just delighted with life.
  6. Can you put some curash powder on it. You can put it on babys with really bad open nappy rash and it provides instant comfort. I use it on hot spots and they dry up straight away with causing discomfort.
  7. My special boy Craig (he's in my avatar) has gone to the bridge today under the wheels of a car. My 10 year old son had friends over, an excited dog and doors left open kids running from house to house our, normally quiet street a bit busier than usual, it was all a bad set of circumstance and Craig was dead within seconds of the car hitting him. Craig was 5 years old, he came to us as pup who had broken his leg and left at the vet was friend was working at, because the original owners could pay the bill. He was a great dog, super friendly and good natured we never even heard him growl. I hope the picture worked http://img22.imageshack.us/my.php?image=29dec08076.jpg
  8. My dogs get sardines about 3 times a week they have done for a long time in fact one is 16 and one 18. Keep feeding the sardines
  9. When I am feeding dry I now use coprice, we have tried almost everything and coprice is my pick for best quality and value for money. Add home brand sardines and chicken wings the odd red meaty bone and you have a reasonably priced diet that you can feel good about.
  10. I'm very sorry Griff, terrible for you to loose your special girl.
  11. IMO being a people oral hygienst this is the only thing that will work especially if the dog has anything other than a perfect canine dentition (wolf shape). When plaque is left for over 24 hours it hardens to calculus when this happens nothing is going to get it off except a scaler. No food can knock off calculus its like barnacales on boat. It seems to me that small dogs terriers, cavs, pugs etc over react to calculus not all, but a lot. I have a 18 year old Mini Foxie who has had a few teeth removed due to gum disease. My 17 year old JRT has worn teeth but no signs of gum disease. I think the best thing to do is monitor your dog as a pup if you can see yellowish staining on the the gum edge of the back molars then you shoud commit yourself to having a dental done at the vet every few years and cleaning the dogs teeth daily. A lot of dogs don't build any calculus at all this is more do to with genes than diet. But feeding raw is the best for dental health.
  12. Try Sheridans in Boomerang place near the station in Seven Hills she's very experienced. They won't let you stay with dog though, its a bad idea for a lot of reasons.
  13. I have a Wahl single speed that I've used for a couple of years. I actually prefer the whal to any of my other clippers, I have never tried the Andis so I can't comment.
  14. We have Kennel Cough at home. This is the first time in 18 years my dogs have had it. It’s strange how they all seem to get it in varying degrees. Craig 4 year old tentie mild cough not bothered over in about 3 days. Wallace 16 year old JRT, mild cough over after just a few days - not bothered. Moraig 3 year old flatcoat massive coughing fits, spitting up, and super sooky can’t let Mum out of sight must come over to Mum as soon as coughing starts and stare desperately at Mum willing her to fix it. Ailsa 18 year old mini foxie heavy coughing loss of appetite - might take her to the vet for some AB's as her age is a factor in recovery. I can't figure out where they caught it Moraig is the only one who's been near any other dogs latey and she was last to show symtoms.
  15. Just get the 1 speed - cheaper ans you won't use the lower setting on the 2 speed.
  16. I use a pair of roseline curves - great I love them. I also have a pair of wahl shears which are pretty good.
  17. I use Wahl KM SS I have 2 sets one 2 speed and one 1 speed. I think most people would find the 1 speed enough. I've used oster in the past and there hot and heavy but OK I like the wah; alot better.
  18. Whilst Im not arguing that onion and garlic are toxic to dogs in large quantities. I will only mention that I and all of my family have had very long lived dogs (currently mine 18 and 15 ) living on occasional left overs of stew with onions, curry with onions etc. Maybe its the individual dogs build up tolerence to the plant in question.

I'm really sorry, he was much too young to go, and such a lovely dog. Look after yourself, time will help.
  20. I'm very sorry, what a sad day for you sammy
  21. The only way to remove calculus from a dogs teeth (or a human for that matter) is to scale or chip it off no product is able to break it down.
  22. I'm so very sorry , he was such a beautiful boy.
  23. My JRT, Wallace is 16 he also pants alot I notice if he has put on a bit of weight there is an increase. I also have an old Mini Foxie she's 17 and is not a big panter. I think the weight is the issue. My old boy is very greedy always on the hunt for treats and left overs so his weight is a harder to control. He really enjoys his food and I think it would be a shame to deny him this pleasure at his stage of life.
  24. we had a plaugue of these last year, curash or zinc powder is the best remedey we found quick and easy
  25. Ailsa had her op yesterday all went well - so much stress for nothing She had a few teeth out and a good clean. She was happy and bright when I picked her up, jumped out of the car before I could lift her when we got home, ran inside had a big drink and a can of sardines (her fav). She really is very good for such an old girl - and no more stinky breath .
