  1. With a timid daughter there is no way I would have chosen a Boxer. They are larger than life, bouncy dogs. I would rehome your large breed pup and look at getting a small, quiet breed which will give your daughter more confidence. I am surprised the breeder sold you one to be honest. I'm sure you are fantastic owners but to me, it's a recipe for disaster.
  2. This thread is making me feel so useless. I think I need to invest in a hatchet and find a log!
  3. I took this to mean that you will be mating her very soon - but now I'm thinking dropping her bum coat? Congrats Aziah - she is certainly very pretty
  4. That sounds so callous! I wonder though if they have loads of non payers perhaps this is what they have had to resort to. It is a business after all. Glad you got your money back, they certainly tried to pull a furfy on you, very sneaky!
  5. Yes! I ended up wrapping them individually and will worry about cutting them down as each one defrosts.
  6. LOL. I was saving for the 450D but think I might get one sooner and get one like yours unless someone talks me out of it?? I've already squueeeeed over the pics in the Stafford thread
  7. I would get a crate and have pup in with you for first couple of weeks. I have not ever left water for a pup overnight. My dogs learn to have a drink and a wee before bed time. Letting them drink overnight is only setting them up for needing wees overnight at that age.
  8. Kittens and chickens have totally different needs and wants - apples and orange, you can't compare.
  9. What's the difference between yours and the 450D?
  10. I've been doing that but then I get stuck at the join. I think I'll ask Cliff if I can pay extra to have them chopped and just make do with what I've got now. I'm woosey with an axe too They'd be great Pix! They're a meal in themselves for a large dog but even half of one is too much for my Staffs as a meal. I would give a half one to a Rotti as one of two meals per day, if that makes sense.
  11. Wow, ouch.. Cant believe that you would judge me because I made a joke about not wanting to going through the puppy stage, ie. peeing on floor... Sorry but I know I am a great dog owner, who give my dogs everything, they are very much part of my family and I am totally committed to them! I totally agree with you. I am sure some people feel more bonded with their dogs if raising them from puppyhood, but I have loved both my dogs regardless of what age they have come into my life. I currently have a dog that I got at 12 weeks. My other dog was 6 months before we had her. I cannot tell the difference between the bonding I have with either. I agree. I got my heart dog when she was 6!! I hate the puppy stage, especially 8-20 weeks. 6 months is a great age to take on a dog, also much easier when you have kids. I wish you luck in your search TUPS
  12. Mmmm, sounds messy but might be the way to go. Do you want some?
  13. Because your sig implies that he is pure and that is incorrect. The Mastiff is such a mislabelled breed already. In the interest of protecting it from BSL and further mis identification to the general public and DOL newbies it's not a good idea to imply the dog is pure when they're not. It also gives us a better indication of the dogs growth rate and potential size in order to answer your questions more adequately
  14. It's $66.55 at VetnPet Direct. Has anyone seen it cheaper anywhere else?
  15. No way???? So it would last 6 months? That's crazy - one of the reviews I read was that it was expensive. At the moment I am using Advantage(ix) every fortnight for 6 pets - so Comfortis is far more viable.
  16. It doesn't say how many tablets are in a box? I am guessing just the one - exy if you've got three dogs to treat at $60+ each.....
  17. I got an order the other including 5KG of lamb flaps. I don't have the hand strength to cut them. I'm wondering how other people make them smaller as they're enormous
  18. Oh I'm sure it can be done - but in a rental surrounded by cows why risk it with a dog such as the staffy mixes. I'm sure with good fencing and management it's doable - but staffs are notorious for getting out of fencing and doing serious damage to livestock, rather than just chasing. The OP hasn't mentioned any sort of fencing.
  19. Isn't the pup a cross breed? I seem to recall a pic and he was a lot smaller than a pure Mastiff.
  20. A staffy type would be the last breed I had on a rural property with livestock. If choosing a rescue I would opt for one who has been in a home foster environment for at least 4 weeks in order to gauge their temperament. I would also ensure that you can take the dog on a trial period.
  21. That is gorgeous But Yes! Your poor Mum
