  2. Still learning to use the new camera...but heres a few i took today
  3. My black GSD had a white chest spot when a pup, tis now only a few hairs and you really cannot pick it out at all
  4. Awww i love black dogs, and have one at present But i will say when out walking people give her a wide berth and i have had many ask if she's nasty. I dont really find the blacks much harder to photograph than any other colour...
  5. Yeah well after today i got some doubts on her intellegence...it was pouring, not just a little bit of rain! She does really like water though, obviously! Nika is a german shepherd
  6. *LOL* Nika loves water. Its not at all cold here, just very very wet. But still you'd think she head into the kennel eh. She's been out there all day silly pooch
  7. Nika has a lovely dry kennel and where does she choose to sleep Heard me at the door
  8. Awesome news! I'm with you, can't wait for longcoats in the showring. Just love them! Not that my current girl would be there, but that maybe an option for my hopefully future longcoat GSD
  9. The blacks a very striking looking. I personally wouldnt have anything but a longcoat black now, but they are hard to find. I've been looking for a male up here, but so have not been successful
  10. Blacks can be shown, so black is acceptable. Nika would not be permitted though as she is a longcoat. That is how i understand it
  11. Thanx guys Yeah many think she's belgian, not that many black sheps around, and most public dont even know its possible to get them in black *L* Nika is VERY popular here...everyone just loves her
  12. New pics of my gorgeous girl Arnika
  13. I've used a static bark collar, it worked brilliantly, but then she could not bark at all, i wanted her to be able to bark, but not to go on and on with it. So we changed to an e-collar type thing, she wears it most times now, she can bark, but if it continues (probmatic type) she gets a vibration warning 1st, then a small zap if she continues. Very very rarely does the vibration not stop the barking. The best part is i can do this with the remote from anywhere in the house. Going out to tell her to shh, was not working. She'd only learnt to bark bark bark then run to the door with a "where are ya mum" look on her face.
  14. I cant see anything wrong with the ad personally. Plenty of others to look through, if the breeders dogs weren't what you were after.
  15. Swf or not, you were doing all the right things...the other owner should take responsibility for their dogs behaviour! When i used to walk my 80kg bullmastiif x rott, i used to get bailed up by all sorts of size dogs and believe it or not, i found the small ones the biggest problem. Thankfully he was not a dog that fired back when attacked. Sadly the owner of the other dogs is usually an irresponsible owner, and no amount of talking to them will make them think their dog or them has done wrong. Very very frustrating. Very very dangerous. Some people just should NOT own dogs!
  16. My girl heels on my left when out on a walk.
  17. Yep she's nearly a grown up lol Time definately flies, i can still remember her arrival, a little black furball, cheeky as lol
  18. Some pics i snapped of her today. I could take pics of her all day, so there would have been more but this time my batteries went flat *L* Anyway onto my girl, who will be 2yrs next month. Snoozin'
  19. Yes well, that sorta snowballed eh *L* I was gonna add some more pics to Nikas thread, but i think i might just start a new one
  20. I bought one yesterday from Aldi, hope to get it all set up tonight all going well
  21. The halti is part of our walking routine at present. When doing short lead work it is a must at present, i have hurt my back and cannot take any pulling at all, which she has picked up from lack of work (my fault not hers), Nika needs to get back into training, to calm back down after her forced break, hence the halti at this stage. The lead is 20metres long...Nika would be lucky to be 10metres away from me at any time when we do recall training (as stated above i took the pics while training). I use it because it is a bylaw that dogs must be onlead at all times plus the fact as stated her recall needs work, hard to do recall training if she can only go a very short distance away on the normal short lead dontcha think? I'd rather me within council laws & her safe than not, incase she decides not to come when called, but wander onto the road that is just beside the area the pics were taken. The fact that she has to have it on does not instantly mean she is a nutcase that runs off at any instance resulting in major jerks to her neck/head. If she was she wouldnt be in either the halti or the check chain, both are dangerous and can do damage if she ran off and got to the end suddenly *LOL* who would have thought showing a few pics would result in having to explain everything. Anyway, rest assured she is in no way at risk of damage. Once we get back into a routine and my back is fully recovered we will go back to just the check chain.
