There is a new outfit here in Perth who do elimination diets, and wellness diets. Get it from bassendean petfood supplies, chicken necks for seriously cheap and fresh. Also a good selection of raw meats. Which also has ground bones etc in it. Very friendly staff too. I think my choices were goat, camel, emu, horse and one other which I can't remember. After a couple of weeks when the itches have ceased do you then have to add a new food every 10 days?? These come in 600g Trays On the tray of food it says - Hypoallergenic Complete Camel and Sweet Potato. We are going to leave him on the camel and s/pot for 6 weeks and see what the outcome is and decide where to go from there. We have tried most other meats and as he came to me aged 2, I have no real idea of what he may have had in the first two years of his life. Now the food elimination diet will help if your dog is allergic to foods, however if it is something else it will be tougher to work out what it is. My vet is very good, and I am very up with pred and its side effects (I had a dog with Cushing's). Have a dog here atm that has been ripping himself to shreds, removed a great deal of coat and had the reddest raw inflamed testicles I have ever seen. Didn't respond to Malaseb, natural anti-itch washes, Missing Link, fish oil etc (altho these last 2 are longer term things) and I was about to get him a cortisone shot in desperation when I put him on the ProPlan sensitive skin formula only yesterday. Today the redness has gone, the testicles look heaps better, the heat has gone out of his skin and the chewing and scratching has gone down by at least 50% - the first meal was lunch yesterday. so the effects have been in less than 24 hours. Zedley flares even worse when bathed in Malaseb, I am using the EPO, but at the moment he is resistant to all of my ministerings He is also regularly on fish oil and EP oil. This itchy thing has been ongoing for a long time, every time I think we have beaten it it comes back and this has been a bad one, hence the cortisone tabs (which makes him very hungry, put on weight and become a food thief :p Maybe this year is going to be a bad one for the itchies, I hope your dog has found some relief. No they don't take weeks to kick in. The Capstar will only kill fleas on the pet at the time it was given the tablet.
