Ok im not sure what they are called (other then measuring sticks)

When you get your dogs height taken for trials etc, what is the measuring item called and can i buy one?

Im thinkingit would be easier to meaure the dogs at home, then a tape meaure or measuring tape,

Thanks

I think it's called a wicket, but I don't know where you'd get one, maybe ring an obedience club?

Thank you :)

I would'nt bother. You will only need one once.

Ask your dog obedience club. Most have their own. There is one at most trials. Take your dog down and measure it.

It's for home use :)

Not if you're tracking a pups growth...or get a new dog etc. :)

I've only been able to find them for sale from the US, I'd really love to know of any selling in Aus.

ETA: There are (US) instructions here to make your own.

ADAA Shop Order Form lists a measuring stick for $120.

:) Hey Sway if you get one can you bring it to a show so I can borrow it? :)

No seriously I'd love an accurate measure of my dogs, the tape measure method just isn't accurate whichever way you do it.

Edited because I put the wrong emoticom

Not sure if this would do the same thing???

http://www.sportstek.net/phm.htm

I wonder how that one will work?

A very simple and portable way of measuring a person's height, without relying on wall attachments and markings

The ones they have at the doctors are attached to the wall and pull down.

Don't know anything about the device, but I've found sporstek excellent to deal with :)

Hi,

I have a measuring stick for my ponies [shetlands] which goes from 14in up to 39in. It has the level float thingy on it.

If you contact any saddlery shop they would be able to order one in for you, from memory it cost me around $80.

Bye,

Cherokee :D
