Last feed here is at 7.00pm, this morning they didn't wake up until 5.50am, sheer bliss  They have had x3 sessions outside today of between 15 minutes-1/2hour.

They LOVE a run.

They sure do like to run! Wow look at them go.

I'm a bit concern for my blk/tan miss she is very sleepy today, currently curled up in the far corner of the puppy pen next to the food bowls. Her siblings are all playing loudly so its a case of odd puppy.

Please don't take this as a criticism BUT reading about how some of the pups are spending most of their day away from Mum I'm wondering about the fact that we all say that they can't be rehomed until 8 weeks, primarily because they need to learn about being a dog from Mum - bite inhibition etc. Well that was always how I understood it. Is it more that they learn that from their littermates?

Sorry - been really sick for a few days and my thinking isn't working very well

Ours do not spend most of the day away from Mum. She stopped feeding them at approx. 5 weeks so we have taken over and are feeding them. Ours are all inside in their playpen and Mum plus the other adults (x5) can walk around the pen. Depending on the weather they are taken outside three times a day for a run and play with Mum and their rellies who are teaching them their social doggy skills.

We have people here every Sunday for herding training and since last weekend when they turned 5 weeks old we have asked several of our friends to come into the house yard and interact with the pups so that get the human socialisation as well. :happydance2:

Although ours are not necessarily with mum all day, they spend lots of time with their Nana and Uncle and they interact with them. Next week when mum's milk has dried up she will no doubt be happy to be with them again. She still has some milk but is not that interested in feeding them so we do and when they stop chasing her she will play with them

Pretty much what everyone eles said above is what goes on here...

She has free entry to the room but goes n comes as she pleases.. but not much...

She comes outside with us when its outside time.. They try and feed off her but she tells them no.. After awhile when they get over it lol she will play with them..

Pups eight weeks old this week. Ours were weaned off at 6 1/2 weeks, we have interaction with mum & dad every day for 30minute sessions x 3 times a day. Have to be careful though mum still has milk and pups will go to all means to get on the milk wagon. I'm home all day so they get lots of human interaction and enjoy playing with my kids too.

Thanks for explaining guys :( .

I've always made such a point of making sure that our rescue pups get time with their mums each day up until 8 weeks of age to do what I can to ensure they get as good a start as possible that reading this I started to wonder if I had it arsed up.

The rescue litters will hopefully be good practice for my own first litter :)

No worries here, actually a good question to ask.

This morning 5.45am my pups were woken by the cat....grrr. Let them out for toileting and interaction time with mum & dad as they were rather loud. However mum comes flying up rolls onto her side and demands that she is allowed to feed them. They have been weaned for 2 weeks, she has a tiny dribble of milk left in her and so I've got to lock her up which then starts the barking and wakes the entire house up.

I've spent the morning freezing my bum off outside watching little puppies play, poo and wee. Came back in and cleaned the pen and now sitting down eating breakfast.

All in a days work. :)
