Anyone Keen In Melbourne?

I thought I might try and organise a get together in melbourne.

I haven't thought about exact locations, I thought I would gather some interested people and then try and pick a place central to the majority.

Obviously a doggie play date if possible.

Anyone keen?

Kepala is in Diggers rest.

It is a pet resort that has runs and pools to let the little monsters off leash and run around. We meet there every month. The next day is this Sunday. Here is the thread for it http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...199557&st=0

Some photos from time there.

I am happy to come to a meeting but prefer a fenced area as mine have no recall and play better off leash.

Just had a really good look at the website......................

i think I want to move in  :crossfingers:

Hey BellaDonna-

We do Kepala every second sunday of the month - its lots of fun for both the dogs and their humans, we all get to have a great lunch and talk dogs for the day and you go home with tired but happy pooches. Sorry you can't make this one, but we do have them regularly, so if you think you can make it just let us know on the Kepala thread here on DOL when we post it up for that upcoming meet.

There are some other places around Melbourne too, but like Echo I'd rather have it fenced if dogs are offlead - esp if its in an area where you get lots of general public (and their pooches!) coming through. The good thing about Kepala is that all the dogs are well behaved and everyone who comes is dog-aware, so you don't have the potential for problems that happens in doggy parks.

But how about a bush walk? That could be fun - you will just have to pick the right weather for it!LOL

Not sure why it says Qld - have never lived there - will have to fix it :crossfingers:

Always up for a play date - might I suggest somewhere fenced...

Are you in Victoria?

Your profile suggests you are in QLD.

You're welcome to come, but your trip maybe expensive.

I will definately try and come to Kepala sometime soon although it is a loooooooooooooooong way from home.

It looks well worth the trip.

A bushwalk also sounds good, but that is a spring time activity I think.

Plenty of bush near my house.

For some reason QLD is the default location, you have fixed it now :D

Hello!

I would love for Genevieve to have a play date (or several)! We don't have any friends with dogs, so other than the brief interactions she has when we walk her, and the four weeks of puppy school (that she finished weeks ago), she doesn't get to spend much time with other dogs!

I am keen to have her well socialised with both dogs and humans, I just feel is makes for a more well rounded pet. AND.... she is less likely to go feral when she sees another dog or person!

The regular DOL meets look like fun, but are the puppies too little still? How do you know when they are ready to come along? I wouldn't want her to ruin it for the older, more well adjusted, dogs!!

You can bring puppies to Kepala at any age - maybe just bring a crate or something for when they have had enough, it really is just about you monitoring your dog and those of us with bigger puppies monitoring ours as well (I have a rather boisterous boy).

In terms of a play date apart from kepala the most central dog park that is fenced that I know of is in north melbourne (near lort smith), I know that there are a few others around but this is quite central for people on both sides - or when the weather gets a little finer there is a fenced dog beach at brighton.

My suggestion is just pick a place and time and who ever can go will - it can be hard trying to cater to everyones needs.

CF.

I think she will be fine.

We usually have some bigger dogs come around but there are little ones as well. My Maltese cross is very gentle with puppies. There are other runs you can use if there are to many in the one most people are in You can just do what is comfortable for you.

I second that!

I think a bush walk would be cool!

I can't wait for nicer weather to take the Pointers to Hanging rock again, or a river in Werribee.
