Smelly Paws

Do dogs paws generally smell a little funky due to the sweat glands?

I've noticed our dogs paws are a little on the smelly side and are a dark red colour in between his toes. i soaked his feet in an apple cider vinegar/water mix and then applied Apex cream for a couple of days but the smell is still there.

is this normal, or is there something else going on? no change in diet or surroundings.

yep, diet is good... Artemis and raw, plus sardines, eggs, yoghurt.

I think Apex is the generic version of Neocort and is an antibiotic cream which was previously prescribed for hot spots.

Am i wasting my time with the acv soaking?

is the dark red colour normal?

The dog has Tinea, just go to the chemist & buy tinea cream

The vet will sell all sorts of useless stuff which won't deal with the issue

If you want to use vinegar just buy plain white vinegar

You can also use 3% hydrogen peroxide from the supermarket

i got some malaseb and applied it the other day... the directions on the bottle say to only apply it twice a week. how many treatments before i see an improvement in the condition?

they are still smelly after one treatment.

Every 2 days until it clears (generally) - it'll clear up when it clears up :coffee: Different for different dogs and depends on how bad the area is.
