I do not have a Doggy First Aid kit, but the thing I use most on my dogs is Aloe Vera gel.

Add a bag of "Lectric Soda Crystals"

It can be used if your dog swallows something it shouldn't.

Causes the dog to vomit instantly (within 30 secs).

Where do you buy Lectric Soda Crystals ?

Woolies, coles etc.... Look in the washing powder area. you buy it in 1kg bags.

I keep a small bottle of hydrogen peroxide 3% to induce vomiting - it takes up way less space than the crystals and can also be used on cuts etc so it doubles up which is very handy especially when travelling.

Oh perhaps a soft muzzle as well, a dog in pain can bite someone tending it. If not a muzzle in the kit then a soft strong cord so you can make a J loop around the mouth instead.

1 needing first aid, is better than 2 needing first aid

You can actually buy moulded plastics muzzles for that sort of thing and having used both types, I much prefer the plastic ones. The dog can still pant freely but even if it tries to nip, you're protected. The problem with the nylon muzzles is that a dog can still actually nip with those on.

I got mine from VetnPet (this one http://www.vetnpetdirect.com.au/MUZSH ) and it's so much better than the nylon muzzles I have.

I use this the other night on one of my dogs - nice gentle vomit.
