Confused As To What To Do Next?

Ok I might look into him then Ness, since he does work Sats !! least Michael gets sats off.

We have noticed all the driving back and forth lately (with the eye specialist appts) has not been easy on Joey, probably been uncomfortable for him.. Perhaps also thats why hes been extra quiet too confused.gif

Thank you :) I'll ring him up during the week and talk to him about Joey.

I don't think the eye specialist is keen to see him again, he thinks its the best its going get.. (even tho its still not 100 percent) He does know about Joeys other problem now. Michael and I personally think its because Joey's immunity system is probably low and thats why its not healing as well as it should be..

Matthew is great and certainly worth having a chat to. He isn't one to push unnecessary surgery or testing either. Fingers crossed for Joey. Have you considered trying him on any supplements? Might be a long shot but wonder if something like the Rose-Hip Vital Canine would help with immune system.

I've tried him on quite a few natural supplements, the current one I have him on apparently worked miracles on a great dane that could barely walk, but i have not really seen any real results from it, but perhaps if I hadn't tried and had him on all these things, he could be worse? The cartrophen injections certainly didn't do much that we could tell..

The only one we haven't tried him on yet is the rose hip oil, its something I'm thinking of ordering and trying. However 'if' this problem is neurological, I don't think any of these things are going do much tbh..

I didn't mean in the absence of anything else persephone but just wondered if it might help with the immune side of things. If it does nothing all Jule's has lost out on is trying it. I of all people know full well they aren't a miracle cure.

Glad to hear he has perked up a bit today Jules.

The neurosurgeon says he doesn't have to be, we have still been giving him his mild ones (just low dose) as we think hes worse not on them.. will ring the specialist monday and check with him again..

Joey just had another accident inside (no 2's) so unlike him ! we are taking him outside a fair bit.. frown.gif

hes not yelping in pain .. but he does pant a fair bit now(which we told the specialist)

:( - might be worth seeing if something like tramadol is of use in his circumstances (if you aren't already using it). A quick google seems to suggest not only is it useful for chronic arthritis pain conditions but in cancer type situations. Kenz has some for when she has an extra bad patch.

i've actually got some here for myself but too nervous to take them (for my spine problems) as im super reactive to meds..

Well i will ring the specialist Monday just that he wasn't convinced Joeys is in that much pain going by all the diagnostic tests he did that day on him and he put joey through heaps frown.gif

I have read tramadol is often used on dogs for pain.. i wouldn't give it to him without specialist/vet approval

Definitely worth asking the question and agree wouldn't do it without specialist/vet approval. Its easier for us to know if they are in pain - they can be remarkably stoic at the vet even with all the tests.

There is also potential for pain levels to vary across the day. He also suggested I could leave Kenz there for a day for observation but I did mention that she seemed to struggle more towards the end of the day.

Seeing him through all of this that he has been very one sided with the way he walks .. meaning hes been very weak in one side of his body, makes me keep thinking if he's had a stroke at any stage in the past..

He threw up a little last night and my husband said it was frothy..

We really dont like the look of how this is going.. but despite it all he even tho quite listless a lot now, he still wags his tail. The ironic thing is even tho hes getting worse, his eye is finally starting to heal after all this time !

I know Pers, thanks..

none of them have ever wanted to do any blood work on him, our vets or the specialists.. should I be requesting one? usually they are the first ones to want to do extra stuff when you present an ill dog.. Hes seen 2 different vets now, an eye specialist ( a few times) and a neurosurgeon ..
