He is getting quite big and will be hard to handle in no time. I want to get on top of this with some professional help. Can anyone recommend a particular business in adelaide. I'm in the same boat with my 15 week old labby bitch but i don't go to training club to teach her obedience; i do it for the exposure to other dogs and the certificate for the small council rebate on registration. I train for obedience and general manners etc at home and then generalise out in public. PM Ness, she may have some ideas about private trainers around Adelaide. One of the common failings of the dog obsessed - the sort that like to compete with each other to show off their dog training skills... is they usually get a long much better with their dogs than any other people. I think I'd have to dump myself in that category too. I actually have to think about how a person will respond to what I'm doing but most of the time I just do - which causes misunderstandings and problems and arguments. don't even get my started on my old dog club. The new president refuses to own a computer. She thinks she can live her whole life without one. No computer, no email, no facebook, no word processor, no printer - ARGH. Looked on the website yesterday and saw a different head trainer I'm thinking of putting norty brown dawg into the CCD classes as well as the new girl in grade 1. Sure it's probably not aimed for people wanting to get into competitive obedience or anything but for everyday manners I found it great, positive reinforcement and clicker training plus the trainers are wonderful people. We really enjoyed it all and I miss them a bit as we can't attend anymore after my move overseas. Megan offers home consults and private training sessions too. They resume on February 4 2015. If you're in the TTG council area it's $25 a year outside the TTG area, it's around $40. It's run by volunteers, but a lot of them are breeders and people who have many years experience in dog obedience/sport/showing etc. and has been going for around 30 years. See how that goes. Not sure what I will do about the old club - I like the new chief instructor but given the old guard are still there - I don't know what her chances are of fixing anything are.
