Lure Coursing

July 16

Breed Comp/Lure Coursing (to be confirmed)

I'm going to be going again to the Feb 12th weather permitting

Last time I got there really early and they started selling the other breed run tickets pretty much after they made sure the RRs had theirs. Worth getting there before 4pm, i'm gonna try and weedle an umbrella and make a couple of dog tie stakes like the ridgies had. Fabulous idea as mine hates crates.

Thanks for posting the dates. I'm putting them in the diary with a RED PEN!

My younger dog who only came for the socialisation (he's a little on the shy side) ended up having 2 runs at the suggestion of Hedds (Good Girl!). He stumped me with his keeness! I only put him in at the last minute thinking he'd run around a little and do lots of sniffing. Looks like I've found a good outlet for him.

I also arrived at 4pm being as I had to bring friends and they didn't want to turn up early. Next time I'm going on my own so I've got plenty of time to set up & get tickets. They can come later in their own car.

After all... IT"S ALL ABOUT THE DOGS! ;)

I'm not sure if I'll be there on Feb 12th, but Jyra probably will be. I work on all the Lure Coursing Sundays. I work every second Sunday and the Lure Coursing always falls on the Sundays that I work! I took the Sunday off for the last Lure Coursing, but I might get my Mum and Dad to take Jyra on Feb 12th. In April, well we'll wait and see what I do then.

Hi there lure coursing fans,

The Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of Victoria is always working towards providing a better service on our lure days. We are currently putting together some guidelines for all participants in an attempt to help the days run more smoothly and ensure everyone attending has an opportunity to give their dogs a run or two. We would appreciate any feedback or ideas - send your thoughts to [email protected]

Once we have prepared the guidelines we will make them available through the RRCV lure coursing e-mail list and also at each event.

February 12 will see a sausage sizzle and cold cans of soft drink for sale at $2.00 each.

We propose to increase runs to $2.00 for 2 laps and we will be regulating the number of tickets sold so as to ensure there is an opportunity for all dogs to run.

Owners should note that dogs who get along can run together in groups of two or more - that way we will get through the ticket holders much faster - just a thought.

Come and have a look at our new shed and give us some ideas of what to do with the old one - perhaps we could have a working bee to fix it up and utilise on lure days.

The RRCV committee appreciates all dogs and owners who attend our lure events and we love to hear ALL feedback. This is not just for ridgebacks - it is an all breeds event - including crossbred dogs. Fun for all! And as so nicely put by 'Feral Sam' - it is all about the dogs!

Don't forget - if you are not a VCA member, and Feb 12 will be your first time, you will need to pay a $6.50 insurance levy which covers you for 12 months.

Sorry I missed the last one but I am looking forward to Feb 12.

Hope to see you there and please, come and say hello and share your thoughts.

Darren Stebbings

President RRCV.

Hi Darren,

This was my first visit to lure coursing and I doubt it'll be my last.

Thanks for your feedback and communicae. Personally, I appreciate your comments as they reinforce the welcome and comradery which essentially, is what it's all about. Although being a dog owner, I have never integrated into clubs or associations so this is a new ball game for me.

I have contemplated scenarious of rosters and formats to maximise the number of dogs/runs that could be held in one day. As yet I haven't come up with a plan that makes sense (it's in my mind somewhere!) so there's no point presenting you with gibbersih nonsense. Nevertheless, if I can sort it into some form of logic I'll email you my suggestions. (Promise you won't laugh if they're silly or unpractical!)

Looking forward to the chance of speaking in person.

Sam

Looking foward to it.

Good idea to get the dogs to run together (who get on) - that would get through more goes.

(That means you Banjo  )

And now that I have my portable HD, I'm gonna take more piccies!

Yep, my two will run together this time - might inspire them after they both refused last time.

And foster pup if she is still here - will need Banjie assistance - he is the only thing that can attract her to move more than 5m from my side.

Awwwwwwww DD, thats coz the little monster girl  you so much.

But her 'uncle' Banjo will take her round, as long as he gets a run with his best luring mate Reilly as well.

I am hoping a mystery interstate DOLer and her gorgeous dog will be there for you all to meet. I'm sure you can guess who it is  .

Gosh rosie, so sorry to hear that you'll be losing Smitty! That must be so hard for you.

Yeah.. it's the hardest thing I have ever had to do :D

On the bright side - nothing stopping me from getting a big cuddly dog now  All I need is Ashley's address... ;)
