jess95-06 Posted September 2, 2006 Share Posted September 2, 2006 Well after hijacking Sammy Ballerina's thread i though i would start my own!! (Thanks again Sammy...) I have a female GSD who is six, I have only been living with her for 10mths as my OH had her previously to meeting me. However i love to bath my dogs and keep them beautiful. OH is a mans man when it comes to dogs and he thinks i spoil them... hehehe. What can i do about all that hair that just comes out all the time, i use a coat king brush on her and that works really well. Is there anything else i can do??? I wash approx. once a month depending on weather and that kind of thing, she is an outside dog when i'm at work and when i'm at home there welcome to come in or out. JENCOL Posted September 2, 2006 Share Posted September 2, 2006 GSD's being a double coated breed shed twice a year (generally) at these times they require thorugh grooming almost daily to keep up with the hair that is dropping. In between times a weekly brushing should be more then adequate, I haven't tried the Mars Coat King however I have had others tell me that it works well on a GSD. Unfortuately that is the best that can be done with almost all double coated breeds, shedding hair is one of the ?joys? of this wondeful breed. ish Posted September 4, 2006 Share Posted September 4, 2006 What you do is, get yourself a good slicker brush and an undercoat rake and invest in a few acres of land - I have 6 acres, one for each GSD and thats usually enough room to get rid of all the fur This is Cindy after one good brush during her moult. She had a hydro bath in the morning and the hair just kept coming out all day so I tried the garden blower on her and she loved it!!! She kept sticking her bum out and then she'd show me her neck and all the places she wanted me to direct the blower. There was hair going everywhere . She gets a blowdry after her bath anyway but she definately preferred the garden blower, and it got rid of a lot of loose hair. She looked beautiful when I finished too.
