This is just to clarify for our clubs sake where we stand if an APBT was to come down to the club. As I have said I would not turn away any person or dog who comes down to the club to seek advice and training. I in no way took offence to your previous post and did not think you were bagging out the VCA. In fact last time I spoke to them on this matter they were pleased that owners of the breed were seeking out training for their dog. As a result, and given the VCA rules prohibiting PB types from training, I can't help feeling that the VCA is in favour of BSL ...... or is at least indifferent enough to it NOT to fight it more openly If this is correct, I would have to say I completly agree. I 'pulled' that piece out of your quote, I guess only in a poor attempt to highlight the point of my post. I apologise that I'm unable to 'speak' more clearly tonight. Commitments to looking after "foster" pup permitted me 4 hours sleep last night and it's been a full on day work-wise today. Please also note that when I speak of the VCA here, I'm referring to the VCA itself .... not necessarily the member clubs, even though they are bound to the regulations and policies the VCA sets down. If the VCA are encouraging of those who seek to train their APBT ( ), I wonder why they are politicking to make it difficult to do so (assuming that is the case). So sorry, W. We would really love to be able to get our little guy into training without having to falsify what breed he is (i dont like doing things illegally) and in falsifying a breed I believe that can contribute to peoples confusion re what breed looks like what but we just can afford private training and private training also defeats the purpose of being able to socialise him with other dogs and prove he is not 'dangerous' Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

If you have a look at the link from my previous post on this thread... advertise away your dogs origins, if you are refused by an affiliated club inform canine they will be sorted PDQ. It's that simple. I know of two DogsNSW clubs that have no problem assisting owners of "restricted breeds". BTW.. Great thread. Alpha Posted December 8, 2006 Share Posted December 8, 2006 yes would love to know who gave you grief so i knoe never to let anyone go there I remeber a few years back we had a gorgeous pitbull at our club however he joined up as a staffy cross ridgey lol What a Catch 22...like Erny stated Dogs not allowed to train because they are deemed "dangerous".Dogs are dangerous because they're not allowed to train. It's because the clubs go to the governing bodies "authorised" insurance broker for insurance, if they shopped about , or one ot two clubs pooled resources and employed their own broker they'd get a better deal on insurance with other instances written into their policies than they are'nt getting via the state governing body. I did it a decade ago for a club I belonged to I saved the club over $150 a year in insurance, got other episodes added to the policy, decreased the XS all for the cost of two days research. If everyone took a stance and moved away from the "scratch my back I'll scratch yours" policy of the State canine authorites; the clubs, members etc would be better off. No governing body can make any club take insurance from its "preferred agent", that is restirction of trade and illegal; the premise for my argument for outsourcing my clubs insurance which stood.
