How Important Is First Week Of Puppy School

I fly back to QLD with my pup on Sunday 18th. First day of puppy preschool is Monday 19th. I had hoped it would be the 26th as my 4 yr old two legged kid has a minor operation on the 19th.

I presume it wont make much difference if I miss it. Is that right? They said I could attend a couple of extra classes to make up.

Hi

I got Angus the day off class one or the day before - the trainer told me it was best to wait a week to allow him to settle in and become used to you as the dominant 'dog'. This extra week allows him to become more responsive to you and also any tummy/ bowel upsets from the change in environment have passed.

Good Luck!

Oh - and congrats on new puppy and good luck for the operation.

You will get alot more out of a puppy school if your pup is a little more settled- especially after a flight. As for missing the first lesson- it depends on what the instructor covers- i tend to cover some really imprtant things first week and wouldn't want a client to miss it without catching up in some way before the second session
