Putting too much oil into a dogs diet can make the skin flake MORE, so maybe stop the oil suppliments for a while. When you wash Micci, do you make sure you rinse off ALL traces of shampoo & conditioner? We find our Amstaffs get bad dandruff if they are not rinsed properly, and even then they still get some - the OH has discovered if he blow dries them (high speed no heat) that they dont get the dandruff.

I only just bought some Eagle Pack to tempt a bitch with puppies to eat. Seems a nice food but its NOT cheap! I got it from Healthy Pet Foods at Castle Hill, if that helps. ETA - I just had a look at http://www.pookinuk.com.au and they are dearer than I got mine for. Oh and Pets On The Park also sell it, and they do free delivery if you are local (Hills District) http://www.petsonthepark.com.au/category108_1.htm

It could be sun bleaching, urine bleaching, coat dying..... You can get sunscreen spray for hair from hairdressing places, I used that successfully on my black Lhasa to keep her black. But some coats will stay black and others will bleach/fade out regardless of what you do to it.

The Best Shampoo To Retain Beautiful Long Coat
Rysup replied to MaddieMoo's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
A friend of mine used to work in the shampoo industry and she told me that the pet shampoo was no different to the human one.......so who knows. I have been using human shampoo on my dogs for 16 years, never had an issue yet. I do know that Pantene not only works wonderfully on my own hair, but its done my dogs as well, for years, without any damage. Something I think hairdressers are full of you know what, coz they want you to buy the expensive stuff they sell. Oh and I wash my Kees in wool wash......again, not a problem with it. -

Different coats take different shampoos. My gold Lhasa was always done in Pantene. My black Lhasa was better in #1 All Systems. I think it is more important how often you bath them, rather than what you use - the more often the better on a long coat like Lhasa/Shih Tzu. Dirty coat breaks, clean coat doesn't. -
Ive seen plenty not grow coat back at all, or if they do its really patchy. I agree, dont do it!

Considering A New Career
Rysup replied to I love dribbly dogs's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I did it for 5 years. You can make good money if you are happy to work hard, long hours in the blistering heat and freezing cold ;) Mine was not a franchise, I think you would want to be careful and know ALL the ins and outs before you buy into a franchise situation. Good luck! -
I used to use a check chain attached to the hook in the bath. Only once did a dog manage to get out of the bath, and I had to very quickly unclip the chain before the dog strangled itself. If I was still grooming I would have had the hook moved back to the back of the bath rather than on the side, as then no dog could ever have gotten out.

Nah doesnt really mean anything.....for years I have had pretty pink, flowery type websites and I just wanted something really dramatic and different! Think I managed to get that! Thanks Sivaro! I will keep working at it, but I guess its not bad for something I learnt in here! You like my crapola? lol

LOL its harder than it looks to get decent pics with colours that work! Couldnt use any of my dog pics because they just arent colourful enough. But thanks!! I am practising!

Here are a couple of my hopeless attempts! I tried this one in B&W first, but it made his eyes look bloodshot, so tried the Sepia and I think it looks better.

I feed 11 dogs for $30 a week - I go between a few different brands, but all are dry food. Coprice, Great Barko & Uncle Elmer's are all around $30 a bag (20kgs) and my dogs do well on them. When I can afford it, they get a variety of raw foods once or twice a week.
