  1. A very interesting (scary) article.
  2. We now go to Avonsleigh Vet, 441 Belgrave-Gembrook Road Avonsleigh, near the corner of Macclesfield Road. Bit of a trek ( 30 mins or so ) from FTG but we think it is worth it, we live in Belgrave. We have Deerhounds and they understand them, not all vets do....... Dave
  3. We imported a puppy 3 years ago through Melbourne, very happy about every aspect of his treatment. Dave
  4. I would like to see more research into the causes and genetic links to DCM, osteosarcoma , bloat and auto immune skin problems, all of which I'm sure are problems in many breeds. Pam
  5. In my experience in importing from the UK the airlines go the size of the crate the has have so the older the dog the more expensive it becomes, I would think this would be the same from the USA .
  6. Definitely avoid Yarra Ranges, one of the least dog friendly councils around. Pam
  7. Considering the amount of rain we have had this week I hope the Park isn't flooded again. Pam

  13. Thanks for the weather forecast, only entered on Sunday and the weather sounds great.
  14. There must be some of these dog washes round you. Down here lots of servo's with car washes have a dog one attached. I'm a bit wary of using them as a friend of mine's dog picked up fleas from one, but maybe she was just really unlucky. Pam
  15. racing is not what greyhounds were originally bred to do, they were bred to hunt and yes some still do so, race and show bred. Not all greyhounds live in backyards plenty live on farms where there are rabbits, hares etc. eta to fix my spelling - again! Yes, I know originally they were hunting dogs, but they've been bred for racing now for many years and many generations. I've always had trouble accepting show bred greyhounds as the pinnacle of perfection in the breed, I feel a succesful racing dog that is sound would be the better expample, but I think I'm alone with this opinion so I stay away from showing. The Greyhound was originally bred for coursing hares and until the hunting ban in UK were still used for that. The modern day show Greyhound is nothing like the coursing dogs, the racing dogs would be a much closer type.
  16. It would be interesting to know why these two breed failed the vet test. Pam
  17. Got mine Tuesday, very helpful with the class entered on the No. Pam
